Yo so are they gonna do a sequel to G.I. Joe?
I know the movie ended with Zartan taking 'control' of the White House.
So what's the deal here? Do you think they will bring in... http://t0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:q.../serpx.jpg&t=1 ...for the next instalment? Also, I didn't understand why they used Marlon Wayans as Ripcord. Last time I checked, Ripcord wasn't black. I figure Wayans should've been Roadblock or that other black guy (he wore the camo suit and beret) Also, Channing Tattum (Duke), came off more as Falcon to me. While Dennis Quaid should've been Duke |
Cobra Commander will probably be the villain. I don't see serpentor showing up in these movies. Storm Shadow will turn good I bet.
The Rock would be a good serpentor if they used him
Def gonna be a sequel. Gonna get Spider-Man 3'd by stupid(er) writing though.
aren't the guys who wrote Zombieland writing the sequel?
It will get a sequel, but a movie that bad shouldn't
I love Gi Joe but deep down inside I knew a Gi Joe movie would not work.
The political connotations of the cartoon would not translate well to film and would piss people off, blah blah blah, etc. I actually was pretty pissed at how much the film sucked. It was just awful. Everything about it. What stuns me is that Gi Joe has such a rich mythology with such interesting characters and they somehow managed to make so many of them..so...fucking...boring. |

The first was just so horrible though. |
And allegedly, Sgt. Slaughter is gonna be in it. (why he wasn't in the first one is beyond me.)
Oh wait, no it isn't. I forgot he is under a WWE Legends contract and, as a result, having a Hasbro figure would have been a breach of contract at the time (they were under Zakks Pacific at the time). I think the deal with Mattel include a way for him to have a Hasbro figure... Seriously, that week Sgt. Slaughter hosted, I was shocked that they didn't have a Sgt. Slaughter vs. CM Punk Bootcamp match (could have been short and had a run in by Jeff Hardy. I mean, it was RIGHT FUCKING THERE. One guy has a Cobra Tattoo, and the other guy was a REAL FUCKING GI JOE.) |
Cobra Commander will be the main Villain Zartan will use his powers of awesome to get Cobra and Destro sprung from the Slammer.
The one thing that really drove me insane from the film was the whole mind control plot. That pissed me off. Was a cheap ass way out of explaining colorful back stories to characters like the baroness.
I really hope they dont make another movie since the first one sucked so much.
The only problem I had was the Baroness changing sides at the end. The Baroness is very evil and very much in love with Destro.
Yes, there's a sequel coming.
I guess "nothing is sacred." |
They don't need a sequel, they need a remake!
I saw it on Netflix recently (2nd viewing) and to be honest the action was decent and even the infamous Accelerater Suits had the most fun sequence in the movie. Setting aside the raping of the Baroness, Cobra Commander and Destro's origin were fairly acceptable. And we got some zany vehicles to fill the Joe's craziness quota.
The costumes kinda missed the point and certain characters should have replaced people who made it in (no Road Block? Really? Breaker over Mainframe?), but the movie isn't as fail as people make it out to be. Every shot with Snake Eyes was badass. Especially when he rocked the hood. |
Breaker was one of the originals. Mainframe barely rates at all.
Fine.

The origins were mostly faithful, at the very least thematically.
I mean, car salesman Cobra Commander was lame. Hidden biotechnological civilization scientist Cobra Commander was also lame. I've come to 'like' the movie version. Destro was done well, though I hope he doesn't remain in that lacky-type position from the end of the movie. The Baroness was just poor. Really kills the Cobra leadership dynamic. Perhaps she gets a heel-turn in the second movie (which was mostly alluded to in the first movie). Needs more HISS Tank. And was that Jinx during the training montage? |
Yeah.
Also, I want Firefly. |
I assume many Cobra characters were left out because technically Cobra as an organization wasn't in the movie.
And DREDNAUGHTS pls |

lol at Cobra Commander with the cape and then later with the grey hoodie
when he has the shield he always comes off as a whiney penis, but when he has the cloth, he looks way more intimidating
Why did he alternate between shield and cloth anyways? What's the backstory to this? |
The cloth was an early attire and he donned the shield later on simply for 'costume change' appeal (you can only recolor toys for so long, gotta have new molds for the kids).
He used the shield whenever he went into combat.
Pretty sure the dude wore the cloth in combat.
Rarely. Talking about the comic, btw. That's really the best source.
Some of us watched that cartoon from the 80s.
No shit, really?
Watch GI Joe: Resolute if you want a good cartoon.

Kalyx, your g.i. joe knowledge is clearly far too lacking to be of any use to anyone in this thread.
Your right. Later.
