R.I.P. Ravishing Rick Rude

Five years ago today, the wrestling world lost a great wrestler. Others lost their father, husband, son, brother and friend.

RIP Richard Erwin Rood 12/7/58 - 4/20/99

The Ravishing One 04-20-2004 09:56 AM

Apologies wrong forum, can someone move it?

The Mackem 04-20-2004 10:03 AM

Would that I could Ravishing One, would that I could.

Doesn't seem like five years ago does it?

Ninti the Mad 04-20-2004 10:04 AM

Wow. It seems like if it was just yesterday.

I cant believe so much time has passed.

RIP

The Ravishing One 04-20-2004 10:08 AM

SuperSlim 04-20-2004 10:10 AM

whitetigerlover 04-20-2004 10:12 AM

<font color=9900cc>I just heard on the news that it is also the 5th anniversary of the Columbine murders too. Oddly, I don't remember these events happening on the same day. It also seems like Columbine was much longer ago.

R.I.P to all. :(

R.I.P Ravishing Rick Rude

I have a friend who used to live in Alfaretta, GA and his family knew the family or something and he went to either the wake or funeral, i'll have to ask him more about it.

Sephiroth 04-20-2004 12:06 PM

RIP Rick Rude, you will always be remembered.

The Greatest, Most Charismatic and Flamboyant Heel Of All-Time. One of the main guys who inspired me to become a professional wrestler. An excellent wrestler and an awesome performer. He may be gone, but he'll never be forgotten.

Yes, Rude was about as great as they get when it comes to heels. You couldn't help but hate the guy. But heelish charisma and excellent mic work aside, Rude was very good in the ring. He carried Ultimate Warrior to decent matches and a great cage match at Summerslam 90. He's also one of the very few guys to hold a pinfall victory over the Warrior. He will also be remembered for his work in one of the greatest stables ever, the Dangerous Alliance. R.I.P. Rude.

The Ravishing One 04-20-2004 01:50 PM

Rude is also the only guy ever to appear on Nitro and Raw at the same time.

The Ravishing One 04-20-2004 01:50 PM

Same week i mean

If I'm not mistaken, he was on camera on both shows simultaneously that night. Because I remember flipping back and forth from RAW to Nitro and trippin' because he was on both channels at the same time.

Loose Cannon 04-20-2004 01:57 PM

^^Wow I don't remember that. That's awesome. Imagine if you didn't know Raw was taped and you're like WTF, Rude is here and...BAM, he's here too.

Yeah, I had read about Rude going to WCW on the now defunct wrestling news site hadeswrestling.com and I knew that RAW was taped, but a friend of mine that was here that night was a super mark and he didn't know what the Hell was going on. LOL, I ****ed with his head by telling him Rick Rude had a identical twin brother named Dick.

targo_the_sho_stopa 04-20-2004 04:50 PM

Lets put it this way, without Rude, would Val Venis have got over as much as he did, or would there even be a Val Venis.
RIP Rick, best wishes to the family.

rockerhud 04-20-2004 04:52 PM

CBright7831 04-20-2004 05:11 PM

So many things happened today:

- Hitler's birthday
- Columbine
- The death of Rick Rude
- Holiday for drug users

Corkscrewed 04-20-2004 05:12 PM

I didn't know he had died either. 1999 was before I got on internet wrestling, and I never heard about it.

:(
