Rank a Wrestler #33 - Steve Blackman

Rammsteinmad 09-03-2010 07:43 AM

No doubt people will rank him 10 because it's SOOOOOO hilarious.

But seriously, I give him a 4. He had potential in-ring, but was far from being Chris Benoit, and he pretty much had no charisma.

JEPW 09-03-2010 08:52 AM

A boring man. The only string to his bow was that he was believable as somebody who was very, very tough.

Mooияakeя™ 09-03-2010 09:14 AM

I'm giving him a 10 to balance out the people who will vote him 1 because they "don't like that people love him now". In actual fact, 6 for me. He was a legitimate bad ass, wasn't terrible, his music was perfect for him and he could work a hardcore match and not make it look like he got lucky. Also, could do more moves than Cena.

Furious Beardsley 09-03-2010 09:30 AM

I'll give him a legitimate 8. He was seriously one of my favorite wrestlers. He was a bad ass.

SaskatchewanChamp 09-03-2010 09:43 AM

Who?

Xero 09-03-2010 10:12 AM

Broke Kayfabe, gave him a 7.

5. Enjoyed him when he teamed with Al Snow and some of his hardcore matches but without the gimmicks and weapons he was just average in the ring and terrible with promos. He was one of the top "hardcore" guys though for whatever thats worth.

The Pope 09-03-2010 11:13 AM

The people giving him 1's and 2's have only seen him in Playstation's Smackdown games.

jskinnyg 09-03-2010 11:27 AM

Anything higher than a 6 for a guy who had no mic skills at all and was decent in the ring is due to the constant Blackmann raves on the IWC... Now I think that shit is funny, but I still can't put him up there as a God...

The Pope 09-03-2010 11:28 AM

Higher than God sounds good. Good thought jskinnyg!

BigDaddyCool 09-03-2010 11:31 AM

I gave him a 9 because he had the look, feel, and booking of a silent badass that tore up the undercard. Which is great. He knew his place and worked it well.

thedamndest 09-03-2010 11:53 AM

7. Probably being slightly generous, but that's okay. I think he was around for a year or two kind of doing nothing and not really getting over until his angle with Shane. After he knocked Shane off the Titantron he was finally over, and all it took was a thirty foot bump. Head Cheese was funny because they finally realized being bad on the mic could be used as a positive with the right guy. He was great in the hardcore division. But he was never getting higher than he did with the talent that was around at the time.

bigslimjj 09-03-2010 12:34 PM

He get's a seven. But tell him I gave him a ten. I'd like to keep living.

RiX1024 09-03-2010 12:50 PM

6. he wasn't an awesome wrestler, good hardcore brawler, no charisma, liked the Head Cheese gimmick and his match with Shane McMahon.

The Pope 09-03-2010 01:05 PM

I bet you he chews out the guys he trains.

He trains people? Oh shit,a Blackman army. Game over man, game over!

Rammsteinmad 09-03-2010 02:04 PM

I seriously doubt the people voting him 10 honestly believe Blackman is worth a 10.

Lock Jaw 09-03-2010 02:11 PM

The whole Blackman thing is getting outta proportion again. It had a lull, but now it seems in full swing again.

I give him a solid 6. He's no La Parka, but he was great as the hardcore champion (where he'd break out the sticks and yell "ITS PARTY TIME") and Head Cheese. He had great chemisty with Al Snow and had hillarious promos. I remeber there were a few of these promos with old people and another with kids and they piss him off and he stops, grabs his nunchucks then starts walking towards them

In all seriousness though, he did a great job when he was asked about the Benoit, steriods, and overall wrestling deaths

XCaliber 09-03-2010 03:23 PM

Can't give him any more than a 7 common at least Lance Storm showed some personality.

Nicky Fives 09-03-2010 04:00 PM

6..... guy was average in the ring, below average on the mic and had little charisma......However, the guy looked and probably was legit tough and had a decent run in the Hardcore Division.....

Mooияakeя™ 09-03-2010 04:21 PM

This talk of him on the mic, wasn't he one who let his "physical work" do the talking. Like wasn't that part of his gimmick. A no-nonsense fuck. So his mic work is fine. His stare did most of the talking anyway in his matches.

MoFo 09-03-2010 04:36 PM

6, liked his feuds with Shamrock and Shane.

BizarroKing 09-03-2010 05:17 PM

The fact that he never won the WWE Title is the greatest injustice WWE has ever done.

Wow, people honestly think he was a 10? Like I said he was a good in ring worker and at his character, but a 10? I could never see him as the main eventer in the company and he didnt even have that long of a run in the WWE

i don't know man... if you would have asked me back in 2000 what pro wrestler was most likely to commit a double homicide / suicide, i probably would have guessed steve blackman.

Had no idea it would turn into such a big "thing" on TPWW.

McLegend 09-03-2010 10:21 PM

Well if you weren't so witty it would never happened.

The Pope 09-03-2010 11:59 PM

I'm gonna do what Lock Jaw did with Steve Blackman, with The Pope

No, he knew what he was doing. Soon he will start the Church of Steve Blackman, and eventally Lock Jaw will open a convent in North Dakota where he will rule with an iron fist.

rated rjo 09-04-2010 08:04 PM

5 - Why? He had his moments but ultimately a great Mid carder. Can't go above a five for that. I just can't.
