Edge sets a record...

Well.. We're 9 months in to 2010, and Edge has yet to ask for time off, or fake another injury. Edge has gone almost a full calendar year without missing a significant amount of time!

It is clear to me that after watching last nights RAW, The "Rated-R Superstar" has no passion for the business anymore. Hell his body even looks like he hasn't been within 5 square miles of a gym in a few months, lately his promo's suck, and what makes it worse is that he is even being booked very lightly. Kelly Kelly takes harder bumps than he does.

Innovator 09-14-2010 12:49 PM

Heaven forbid he got off steroids

Ermaximus 09-14-2010 12:51 PM

In other news, OWEN ULLRICH sets a record for contributing nothing. :y:

What was the previous record?

6 years, 11 months, 14 days, 3 hours, 21 minutes, and 6 seconds set by Val Venis back in the late 90's.

I agree with the thread starter. He looks awful. Hasn't put effort into anything he has been given. Is bland. And honestly might be the next big star to move on out......:/

edge isnt going anywhere but he is old and one injury away from calling it a career but yeah his semi face turn is pretty awful

Lock Jaw 09-14-2010 02:49 PM

Edge actually is starting to look better than he did when he came back from his injury. When he came back, he was really looking chunky. Now he's slimmed back down some. Enough that I'm not distracted by it anymore.

JEPW 09-14-2010 02:54 PM

I've never really been convinced by Edge. He can be funny in backstage promos but his in-ring work isn't that great. I also hate the way he scratches and tears at his hair when about to attempt the spear, putting on that pantomime 'I'ma gonna kill ya' bog-eyed expression with the bared teeth and generally failing to generate any semblance of intensity. Having said that he is over and highly rated by WWE so meh, I can see him hanging around for a while.

The Schlome has spoken... And other than his return I am "meh" about him as well.. He might have had enough of this injury thing and be standing by his word a few months back when he said he only had a couple of years left and he would retire to Asheville, NC...

Next Big Thing 09-14-2010 04:30 PM

Edge is overrated. The best thing to ever happen to his career was him getting heat for fucking Lita and becoming the Rated R Superstar. If that had never happened he'd be nothing more than occasional upper mid card/ mostly a tag team specialist.

You see what's happened to him since WWE has toned down the programming. Unlike a true great like Jericho, Edge can't reinvent himself to stay relevant.

As far as his flabby body, maybe he could use some more time at the gym, but I'm not going to fault someone for getting off the roids (if he was indeed juicing).

My Final Heaven 09-14-2010 05:20 PM

People are starting to realize how much Edge blows....

SOCCER LEGS 09-14-2010 05:41 PM

edge only shines when he's in a program that's worth a shit... his feud with the undertaker was the best feud of 2008... his mini feud with randy orton earlier this year had some great promos too.

i definitely think he's got some lingering health issues that prevent him from getting in the sort of shape he should be in. i hope he gets it worked out and gets back into game shape before he becomes irrelevent.

Th3R0CKSays 09-14-2010 08:02 PM

I agree. Edge shows up and puts his all in when he is involved in a major feud and working a major program. If he is just around for the sake of being around, like he is now, he tends to just be mediocre. BUT, Edge does show up for PPV matches. I will give him that. He might suck ass on RAW, but just watch Night of Champions, he will be back to his old self.

Theo Dious 09-14-2010 09:54 PM

Wow. TPWW doesn't like someone WWE is high on. A bunch of cocksuckers who want to look smart do so by dissing a guy at the top. Big shock.

JEPW 09-14-2010 10:16 PM

Tedious.

BollywoodSingh 09-14-2010 11:05 PM

Speaking of records, Edge most likely won't win either the WWE or World in 2010. If he doesn't win a World Title in 2010, then he'll be the first person since Steve Austin in 1997 not to win a World Title in the same calendar year as winning the Royal Rumble.

Supreme Olajuwon 09-14-2010 11:28 PM

Edge is awesome, he's just lacking direction right now. He's a main eventer but he's just been a role player for a bunch of PPV gimmick matches. Fatal Four Way he was an afterthought, MITB he was an afterthought, SummerSlam he was an afterthought, and now Night of Champions he'll probably be an afterthought as well.

Dorkchop 09-15-2010 12:16 AM

Edge's character has been entertaining the past couple of weeks. I didn't like the "arg I'm angry" Edge. i've always been a fan of him, but I get more into him when they actually have something for him to do. Currently I'm loving the direction he's going in, but at the same time I wish he was putting on some great matches.

Compare WWE bodies in 2010 to 2004/2005. You will notice a significant difference. Not to say there aren't guys on roids, but it's certainly much better. "out of shape" Edge is still in better shape than 100% of the people on this message board. I hate how when a guy is on roids he'll be called out for being unnatural, but when he goes off the juice he's called lazy and out of shape. For most people in this world it's very hard to be huge and ripped without some "help".

Dorkchop 09-15-2010 12:19 AM

Him and Jericho have made the anonymous GM storyline actually entertaining for the past couple of weeks. Mainly Jericho though. I'm sometimes easily entertained, but I liked some of the things Edge did when he faced Khali last week. Edge needs to stay serious, but throw in a little humor every now and then.

Ol Dirty Dastard 09-15-2010 12:37 AM

Why do all of you want wrestlers on steroids?

Dorkchop 09-15-2010 12:50 AM

Because then they can complain that so and so is on roids.

Tazz Dan 09-15-2010 01:48 AM

Did everyone take their fuckstick pills this morning?

Edge is the goods. His promos have been fine, if anything Ryder has been keeping them down, which the majority of them have been with.

As for his look, stop sounding like faggots and wanting all oily steroid up'd men and just enjoy the fucking program.

Tazz Dan 09-15-2010 01:49 AM

Or watch TNA

owenbrown 09-15-2010 02:39 AM

Tazz Dan for mod

KayfabeMan 09-15-2010 03:19 AM

Edge had already said something a few months back about retiring in 2 years or so. So he's probably playing it safe and trying to stay injury free for the most part so he's not crippled when he does leave - and staying in the ring as much as he can so he can make as much $$$ as possible in that time period.

He's another guy I could see going team TNA in a few years if they're still around. He'd be able to work a real light schedule and still make some money while being semi-retired basically.

Tazz Dan 09-15-2010 03:39 AM

Personally I don't see Edge ever going to TNA, he'd have no need to. He's a WWE guy for life.

Rammsteinmad 09-15-2010 10:14 AM

Yeah, Edge has been like, a lifelong WWE fan or something. Why would he go to TNA?

The same thing we do every night Pinky, try to take over the world.

OR for the same reason that most guys do, money.

I don't believe WWE would offer Edge an Undertaker deal, where he works a handful of shows a year and makes $$$ and is still prominently featured as a 'legend' type guy, etc. - then again, they could prove me wrong, as they will be getting even more desperate pretty soon.

Edge could go to TNA, work a few years on a light schedule - still make cash, put in some good solid matches and leave, etc. WWE would still welcome him back when the time is right; whether or not he's wrestling or just appearing or accepting a HoF award later on.

Exactly this.

No one can make the argument that Edge hasn't been featured on RAW; he's there every Monday night, cutting some promo or wrestling some match, but it's never the main focal point of the show. Right now, Edge is little more than plot thickener for other storylines on RAW. It's no surprise he doesn't seem like he's giving it all when the company definitely isn't putting their all into giving Edge a story to work with.

Haze 09-15-2010 01:23 PM

All this Edge hate really came out of left field.

Guarantee if Jericho turns face, the quarterly "Let's praise Jericho!" threads will cease to exist.

Damian Rey 09-15-2010 01:27 PM

The problem with Edge stems from the show he's on and the writing that goes with that show more so then anything on his part. When has Edge ever been anything more than he is right at any point in his career while on Raw?

Edge was awesome on SmackDown!. He had awesome feuds, awesome matches, and awesome promos with the exception of his latest face turn. But when Edge was on SD, he was the goods.

Raw has a tendency to take guys who excel and are exceptionally over on SmackDown!, and make them out to be nothing more than upper mid card fodder on Monday nights. Same thing with Jericho. On SmackDown!, he's a legit threat and a championship caliber competitor. On Raw, he's a jobber to the stars.

Innovator 09-15-2010 01:54 PM

Edge is awesome, this thread is pointless.

Schlomey 09-15-2010 02:01 PM

Nah. Edge WAS awesome. Now he is just out of shape and irrelevant. Sad really.

The irrelevant part is hardly his fault. It's not as if he gets to write for himself.

Schlomey 09-15-2010 02:23 PM

I agree Damian Rey. Since returning from injury he has been plagued by bad writing. The build to Wrestlemania was MISERABLE with those lame spear chants. Since coming to RAW he has gone from good guy to bad guy to tweener to bad guy and now it seems back to tweener by dancing and frolicking with Jillian Hall.

I'm not saying it is all his fault but his boredom is showing through in his work. He looks lazy and bored in the ring most nights. Which I'm sure he is.

Damian Rey 09-15-2010 02:59 PM

Oh I'm sure it sucks to go from being a safe bet main eventer and title holder to mid card filler overnight. This is why I can't fathom as to why Edge ended up on Raw in the first place. Just made no sense to me.

If this is the plan for Edge for the remainder of his career, I wish he'd just retire. He's far too talented to be floating around aimlessly, waiting to put over another face.

I think this is 100% true. I think it shows that WWE feels Raw is the A show. I think it is almost like people have to pay their dues on Raw no matter what they do on Smackdown.

I do not think Edge sucks. I think he is great, but this is how I felt about Orton about a year ago. He has gotten a little stale and just needs something fresh. I don't know what it is, but once WWE finds it all this "hate" will go away.

I think Edge is pretty much where he will always be when on Raw. For some unapparent reason, the Raw writing and booking team just doesn't seem to care enough about the character to continue to develop and push him. And it's sad because we are talking about a guy who has had great feuds and main evented a WrestleMania against one the biggest stars/draws of all time and was actually booked to have a more than remote chance at breaking the streak.

I knwo I shouldn't take it so personal, but it took me a long time to really enjoy Edge's character and right when he hits a great stride, he gets hurt, has an ill fated face run, and is shipped to Raw where he is being booked as a bland shell of his old self.

He could be doing so much on SD! right now. Feuding with the likes of Christian, Mysterio, MVP (another guy who ended being booked poorly), Kane, Taker, Hardy, etc. Now I'm sad :'(
