I miss Umanga

He was one of the most amazing mid carders that the WWE had produced in recent years. And I wouldn't have mind it if he would have won the WWE strap.

Rest in Piece Umanga :'(

Juan 09-28-2010 09:35 PM

Who?

GD 09-28-2010 09:37 PM

Oh you mean UMAGA.

The Naitch 09-28-2010 09:43 PM

What, he died?

VSG 09-28-2010 09:45 PM

Yup, Drug OD.

The Pope 09-28-2010 09:59 PM

I also miss Andres The Gigante

teamXtremist 09-28-2010 10:19 PM

umaga was a helluva atalent stuck behind a shitty gimmick

The Pope 09-28-2010 10:23 PM

It wasn't a shitty gimmick, they just didn't use him or the gimmick correctly.

I think it was a couple heart attacks, although his drug use may have played a part in it.

I disagree. While, yeah, by the end of his run the gimmick and booking was shit, he was pulling the gimmick off perfectly. He actually fit and didn't feel forced into the setting. And for a gimmick like that to come off so well in today's climate is amazing.

He also gave Cena one of his top three matches in my opinion at the Rumble.

Schlomey 09-28-2010 10:30 PM

One of my favorites in recent years. His feud with Cena was really well done mostly thanks to Umaga really making that match series amazing.

RIP

Ekmo?? His name was Edward Fatu.

Volare 09-28-2010 11:29 PM

Ekmo was another ring name he used.

They should put Johnny Stamboli on Jersey Shore.

I came up with a long, rambling post. I'll just shorten it because I cant make it make sense.

His gimmick wasn't shitty, but I believe it fits into the cartoonish wrestling period of the 1980s.

I dont think that a wrestler who doesnt speak is exactly main event material. Yet, he was. He was a pretty good worker.

What I just didnt like about his character in todays WWE period , rather the time he was there in 2006-2009 is that it didnt make sense to me on why he would be here. Why did he only want to fight faces?

Yes its wrestling and doesnt have to make sense. We did have some background on the Umaga character, but not enough for me to get behind it. I wanted to know why he wanted to fight all the good guys, from his mouth. Not into the silent assassin deal.

He was managed by Arrrrrmando Alejandrrrooooo Etrrrrraaaaadddaaa (I like sayin that lol). So yea the manager is gonna say beat up Cena, beat up Lashley. We get the belts! They were a perfect combo of a heel manager w/ an amazing wrestler. Too bad they cut Estrada off as manager to be ECW GM. I don't remember what excuse he gave tho as to why beat up Cena or Lashley.

The Pope 09-29-2010 11:01 AM
