Colby Lopez, the former Tyler Black, made his long awaited WWE developmental in ring debut Thursday night in Tampa at an FCW Arena live event. Lopez was introduced as “Zack Rollins” in his loss to NXT season 2 finalist Michael McGillicutty.

Rollins and McGillicutty had a solid back and forth match with McGillicutty getting the pinfall. The FCW Arena crowd gave both combatants a standing ovation after the grueling contest.



Update: The first name is Seth not Zack as previously reported.

Tyler Black is only as awesome as the angle he's in.

Don't get me wrong, he's great in the ring, but outside of the ring, if he doesn't have direction, he drowns. Both of his heel runs, in Age of the Fall, and his sold out heel run, were great. During his face run however, there was nothing remotely remarkable about his character at all. He's like Roderick Strong. Nothing about him makes me care. When given direction though, he's awesome.

Seth is not a bad first name for Tyler. The last name is something that I feel could use a little tweaking, though. But hey, Nick Nemeth is doing fine for himself as "Dolph Ziggler." Perhaps "Rollins" can be used to connect with audiences. But yeah, I'd have even given him his first name as a ring surname: "God's Last Gift" Seth Colby. Given that SmackDown! likes the Hispanic audiences, Seth Lopez could have worked, as well.

It sounds like he had a good match with Michael McGillicutty, so good on him. :y:
