Can someone fill me in as to what led up to this and why people didn't like it?

Started with this...

Then a few months later, Ted DiBiase started claiming that he had control of the Undertaker and that he would return soon...

and not many people liked the match, because when the match finally happened, the fake Undertaker was about a foot shorter than the real Taker and then proceeded to have a pretty bad wrestling match...

Fun fact: when Dibiase debuted his Fake Taker, it really was the Undertaker playing the role.

No, that was a totally different guy. He was in that biker stable during the Attitude era, Disciples of Apocalypse

Summerslam 1994 is one of my favorite PPV's to watch every now and then. You had the awesome Tatanka/Luger storyline, the Bret/Owen cage match, Taker/Taker and Nash vs Hall.
