Batista returning to WWE?

Quote:

When reports first broke that Batista was considering a mixed martial arts debut with Strikeforce, many doubted that the former WWE Champion was ever realistically planning to step into a cage fight. Sources, however, persistently said the debut was going to happen, with fellow WWE wrestler-turned-fighter Bobby Lashley being eyed as an ideal first opponent. The persistence, combined with photos of Batista training with Team Cesar Gracie, kept the discussion alive.

But if a quote attributed to Batista from earlier this week proves true, one can officially table the rumors of “Big Dave” entering the world of mixed martial arts, at least in the near term.

Joint reporting from MMA Supremacy and Bloody Elbow reveals that Batista is no longer planning for an imminent cage debut and is instead looking towards future involvement with WWE.

“I will not be doing MMA/Strikeforce any time soon. So you can see me in the future of the WWE,” said Batista, according to the story.

The news, which comes in the wake of web stories about Batista’s high asking price, should not be surprising.

Would be pretty hilarious if WWE low-balled him on his new contract.

LoDownM 10-07-2010 07:03 PM

He's the "They" in TNA.

The Naitch 10-07-2010 07:05 PM

This is awful news Batista is terrible with the notable exception of his last few months in the WWE and him as D-Von's Deacon.

owenbrown 10-07-2010 07:38 PM

Why Xero? Why?

BizarroKing 10-07-2010 07:43 PM

TNA's newest superstar

Droford 10-07-2010 08:05 PM

He's gonna personally take out The Nexus.

No one walks alone in the WWE but him!

The Unknown > The Pit of Danger.

SOCCER LEGS 10-07-2010 09:58 PM

batista was great during his run in WWE, but yeah that dude is a fucking joke.

VSG 10-07-2010 10:12 PM

As long as he is not the GM. TBH, he was a good heel towards the end.

CSL 10-07-2010 10:18 PM

As long as they don't start taking him seriously again, this is great news.

Calamondin 10-07-2010 10:21 PM

Really liked him right before he left, but not really hyped about him coming back.

To be honest, Nexus' theme song is so completely gay even Dancin' Dave's theme seems good.

I'd rather watch Nexus, but their theme makes me want to punch kittens.

Fox 10-07-2010 10:46 PM

Maybe he learned to wrestle on his break from the WWE.

Nah.

I wouldn't put it past them to low ball him at all... Would knock his large ego down a peg or two...

Nah.

Not like he was gone got six years or something.

Savio 10-07-2010 11:50 PM

Heard he wanted 500,000 dollars for a fight in Strikeforce.

dronepool 10-07-2010 11:52 PM

Damnit.

bigslimjj 10-08-2010 12:20 AM

His best promo ever was his last one there. Plus WWE has to get that philipino market back. They don't do gimmicks now, just different countries. He still looks like Tarzan and fights like Jane though.

By that logic, WWE needs a Chinese guy then.

And have him wrestre in a radder match...I couldn't resist...

D Mac 10-08-2010 02:08 AM

This is fantastic news!

Jeritron 10-08-2010 02:11 AM

I really don't miss him at all. His last heel run was pretty damn good though, and definitely his best work since 05, but I really think he should just stay retired.
I wouldn't mind seeing him come back for an angle or two shortly I guess, but not fulltime.

D Mac 10-08-2010 02:13 AM

He's the mystery Raw GM.

Wow...this isn't surprising at all.

I honestly think their music is a huge part of the reason why they've failed as the "anti heros" wwe wanted them to be. You can't try be all intense and then come out to soft rock.

Mr. Nerfect 10-08-2010 11:07 AM

Batista's heel run was decent, although RAW sucked at the time, and he has only really been interesting before that during his 2004/2005 rise. If Dave wanted a job back, he'd get it. He was one of their biggest attractions and merchandise movers for a while. I just can't think of a place I'd want him creatively, though.

Mr. Nerfect 10-08-2010 11:08 AM

Actually, given thought, I'd like to see Batista in short programs against The Miz, John Morrison and CM Punk. But almost exclusively to put them over. Batista's ego probably wouldn't allow that.

thedamndest 10-08-2010 12:46 PM

He's ducking Lashley.

XCaliber 10-08-2010 12:52 PM

There aren't many Powerhouse style wrestlers in WWE right now so i'd gladly have him back.

FourFifty 10-08-2010 12:58 PM

Not too stoked to hear this, unless he comes back as a hired gun or body guard.

Nasally and whiny, to boot.

WE'LL TAKE ON ALL COMERS! Now listen to our Muzak!

Triple Naitch 10-08-2010 01:03 PM

I actually like Batista, but I think he's run his course in WWE.
