Photoshop
I am looking to get a copy of photoshop just to play around with and learn how to use and so forth, but I was wondering if anyone can tell me any major differences in the last 3 or 4 versions of it. Like I said I am just looking at picking up something cheap just to play around with. I have been using an old version of Paint Shop Pro for ages and quite honestly it has gotten to be very outdated and doesn't do what I want it to a lot of the time.
On the other hand I have a copy of AutoCad and that's great for drawing things up, but useless for colors. I also have copies of Google Sketchup and 3dsMax laying around here somewhere that a couple of friends gave me that I never put much time into or learned how to really utilize them, so if they would be fine substitutes let me know, because I have never really used Photoshop so I have no real idea what it can or can't do. |
I made another signature! Oh boy what a week I am having.

I was cracking up for a couple minutes after I first saw it.

CS5 is really nice with the "content aware" feature and other little tools like that that make things easier/quicker, so I probably would definitely try to get that.
There are "other ways" to try it out also if you do not have like $600 to spend ;-) |
GIMP is free and very similar to the way Photoshop works if your looking into a free software option.

Almost everything I do is done with GIMP. It's quite capable. A bit more manual than Photoshop but works.
Also, Inkscape is similar to Illustrator if you're looking for line art/vector art. I use that a bit too. |
3dsMax is awesome, once you get the hang of it. :y:
