Something in music you wish was gone

If you could eliminated one thing in the general category of music, what would it be? It could be anything you wish like a musician or their influence, an certain instrument, types of fans, an genre, or anything you can think of related to music. Personally, I would like the accordion to disappear.

Vastardikai 11-12-2010 06:36 PM

Go to hell with the accordion thing. The accordion rules for one reason:

And, to answer your question: Auto-Tune.

I forgot he played that. :o

jerichoholicninja 11-12-2010 06:53 PM

I was going to say auto-tune but it's use has become laughable to me so I can't hate it. I hate indy music fans. I don't mind indy music but the fans are pretentious pricks.

El Fangel 11-12-2010 07:16 PM

Justin Bieber

Buzzkill 11-12-2010 07:31 PM

Whiney rock like "Alexisonfire" and anything that sounds like Tom DeLonge

Buzzkill 11-12-2010 07:32 PM

Have never heard Alexisonfire but in my mind they sound like something Tom DeLonge fans would like

Buzzkill 11-12-2010 07:33 PM

Also, what is so bad about Justin Bieber? Seems like everybody hates him for no reason. Never heard any song by him but just seems like a pretty normal tween pop star

And worst of all, his music is so forgettable. It's not good, but it's not bad. So why is he treated like the spawn of Satan?

I'm guessing 4Chan.

Anyway, I'm going to go with Protools. While it has some legit uses, it's mostly used to make shitty people sound "good."

Seriously, Milli Vanilli were more honest than the folks who process their shit through Protools, and they're still mocked. Though they're slowly getting forgotten.

I agree with you except for R&B

Buzzkill 11-12-2010 08:31 PM

Like Justin Timberlake and Rhianna tbh. Obviously it is mostly disposable pop, but it's really really good pop. Same w/ Lady GaGa. Just very good pop music, nothing more really.

I think most ppl just hate the idea of these people more than they hate the actual music.

dronepool 11-12-2010 08:53 PM

I don't have a problem with the people themselves- I just can't stand the music they're associated with.

mitch_h 11-12-2010 08:55 PM

I don't like that pop-country is so popular, I'm not really talking about Taylor Swift either, who is actually okay... more along the lines of Keith Urban and Brad Paisley or whatever. These people are not supposed to be real celebrities, they are suppose to be more like "fringe celebrities" kind of like wrestlers or hockey players or something.

dronepool 11-12-2010 08:56 PM

^ Never heard of them tbh. Ignorance is bliss.

Do you hate it because all of the other 'metal' fans do and god knows metal fans enjoy standing in angry circles together being angry or do you have an actual reason?

CSL 11-12-2010 09:03 PM

Not having a pop at you btw, I just come across this mentality a lot when I'm 'In Da Club' like 50 Cent.

Why would I hate it because others do? I hate it because music like that makes me dislike music. It's so sappy and the topics are annoying most of the time. And the beats/music aren't interesting enough most of the time.

And I'm not even close friends with any metal heads. When I had more friends, I probably was but other people have nothing to do with my taste in music. I always hated that kind of music.

If I had to decide at gun point or something I'd rather listen to bad rock like Nickelback and Limp Bizkit over stuff like Rihanna if that says anything.

Juan 11-12-2010 09:28 PM

People who shit on other people's taste in music. Not singling anyone out, mind you, it's just a pet peeve of mine.

D Mac is the exception tho. I mean, Creed?? Come on now

Justin Timberlake is the man. Don't like his "music" at all but he is such a "cool dude". Huge mancrush I guess

I don't really care about anything in this thread and I think everything about it is really stupid but I will say METALLICA /M\

dronepool 11-12-2010 09:51 PM

^ I saw him on a talk show where he talked about Pink Floyd years ago, he did seem cool/laidback guy. I just don't like his music.

Or the idea of pop in general. Though I don't really like Timberlake (Can certainly admit he's got talent, just don't like him) and Rihanna (strong voice, don't like much else about her music), pop isn't bad by itself. But there's a strong counter-culture deal that goes on. Whether it's good or bad, it's still pop.

CSL 11-12-2010 09:58 PM

Quite like Justin Timberlake, he seems like a nice guy but I think that's the way he wants it. 99% sure he's actually a sly cunt and would try to finger your girlfriend the second you looked away.

To be fair, it's D Mac. The dude should just be mocked in general.

DaveWadding 11-12-2010 10:30 PM

I would eliminate Metallica, just to see how D Mac would react.

Kane Knight 11-12-2010 10:34 PM

You want to see someone kill themselves, go to 2Chan.

St. Jimmy 11-12-2010 10:39 PM

every form or derivative of rap every created, ever.

I love this man, and the accordion because of him.

Funky Fly 11-13-2010 03:31 AM

Excessive use of Autotune. Minor pitch correction is fine. The occasional autotuned bar or phrase can be effective. Entire songs of robot vocals = fail.

This or the aforementioned Tom Delonge/Green Day vocals. One of the few things that truly offend me as far as music goes. I'll tolerate bad music, but I will stab you in the throat if you play this around me.

Arrogant/Ignorant music fans.

A guy I went to college with is totally into metal (stuff like Slipknot, Lamb of God etc), but whenever he meets a girl he'll tell her he's into all sorts of music, I guess just as a way of not puting her off straight away by saying metal. Of course as soon as we're alone and I'm playing anything that isn't metal, he'll be all like 'what the fuck is this shit?', and then go on to play Slipknot etc. :foc:

Also, pretty much all arrogant music fans. Metal fans are usually all 'YYYYEEEEEEAAAAAHHHHH metal is real music, fuck all that crappy pop shit!!!', whereas all those club music people still think metal is just 'distorted noise' and act like it's not real music at all.

Obviously we all have our own tastes, but jeez sometimes I wish people could be more open-minded.
