I don't see how they make everything out to be a conspiracy. They actually talk to "sources" before they even call something a conspiracy. I'm somewhat of a skeptic myself, but they do raise interesting points on major conspiracy theories(but I have seen every episode). In fact, in most cases, either Jesse or someone on his team starts out as skeptics. Not that every conspiracy is true, but then the name implies you are at least willing to explore the possibility of a conspiracy.
And I never saw Ventura claim to be a member of the press, only a former governor, navy seal, etc. Obviously, when you're dealing with the government, it takes a liar to catch a liar. You think you could question a government official about Area 51(or any other matter)by telling the truth? I'd assume most people know who he is, so why would he lie by claiming to be a random politician?
