John Cena Cuts A Promo On The Rock, Dwayne Responds

The video is from the show i attended in Perth on Sunday night. Its on the main page but i know jack shit about computery crap so if someone can post it here that'd be great. If not i dont really care cos its two clicks away anyway. I like that Cena called himself a 'Professional Wrestler' and that he mentioned the 'Im back and i will never ever go away again' shit that The Average One spewed. I believe Cena when he says The Rock wont be leader of Team Bullshit again until April 1st when Rock gets his big payday. Does anyone else think we'l see Rocky back before the lead up to WM?

Discuss the video or whatever

Thanks. Kinda made this thread to see would naitch shit all over it again or if i was in the clear. Turns out he spent the last FULL DAY creating a sock and now he's posted his own version of the thread based on a comment i made yesterday. If only he had a life

I agree with Cena here 100%. Though he does come across a bit whiney...

HBPunk 07-07-2011 04:26 PM

He was gettin booed and heckled quite a bit. WWE is huge over here so they are smarky enough

Nicky Fives 07-07-2011 05:36 PM

Rock may come off as whiny, but he gets 100x the reaction than Cena..... and nobody boo's him unless he's heel.....

Well that's not even close to true. The whole reason thy turned him heel during his final run was because he was getting booed.

captaincharismark 07-07-2011 08:04 PM

I think the better question would be when does Cena NOT cut a promo on The Rock? He'll pretty much carry the fued, so Rock won't even respond directly till March. I did however find it interesting that Cena said his match with Punk would be bigger than his match with The Rock. Apparently even Cena didn't believe Rock could draw more in one night than Punk could his whole career.

Depends on his opponents, honestly.

Case in point, Rock looks like the second coming of Christ compared to Cena.

Got booed against Hogan, Austin (mostly), Goldberg.

I'm still pretty interested to see how this situation is handled though. If Cena keeps coming back with the "I COME TO WORK EVERY WEEK AND I WORK EVERY WEEK, 4 U" and Rock just keeps saying random catchphrases, it really won't even matter, the match itself is enough. They should let them have more fun with this thing.

The Naitch 07-08-2011 01:26 AM

Cena should play the heel against The Rock

Aguakate 07-08-2011 04:25 AM

The Rock should play the heel against Cena :shifty:

Or he was trying to sell a PPV that's like two weeks away, while people will have long forgotten that promo by Wrestlemania next year.

I doubt anyone would buy The Rock could draw more in one night than CM Punk could his whole career. Plus, he can't sell a PPV to fans at a house show. If he were making that statement on RAW, maybe but the majority of wrestling fans would be unaware of that promo without internet.

Anybody Thrilla 07-08-2011 03:20 PM

Do they not sell PPVs in Perth? Serious question.

HBPunk 07-08-2011 03:22 PM

Captain, that may be kinda true but aside from the internet fans being the greatest whingers in the world and everything sucking to them they are still the best fans the WWE have. We care enough to be here, we care enough to buy tickets to many many shows, we remember it all and where it all began. little jimmy doesn't remember the night hogan slammed andre, the night the nwo war formed, the night austin cut the 'austin 3:16' promo but we do. all the little jimmy's know about is superman cena and when they grow up and get over him they will move on. I know ill be a fan for life and id say the majority of posters on here will too.

HBPunk 07-08-2011 03:23 PM

AT they do. Also i dunno what that rant i had was all about, im a bit tipsy after working all day n night

Anybody Thrilla 07-08-2011 03:27 PM

So if they sell PPVs in Perth, why wouldn't the crowd there be a target to sell the PPV, captain?

I think you were missing my entire point above. I meant since the promo wasn't televised, no one would see it. So, your point about that promo selling a PPV doesn't make sense. Never once did I say selling PPV's Perth wasn't a target. Two very different points. I'm sure WWE being there proves otherwise.

Aguakate 07-08-2011 09:21 PM

I don't care what anybody says, I'm sure whenever John Cena talks smack about The Rock, deep down inside, he really means what he is saying...he actually DOES feel that way about Dwayne Johnson.

If he said his match with Punk was bigger than his match with The Rock, he was trying to sell the PPV to the Perth audience. That's all.

I never disputed that fact. My point was one promo in Perth that was untelevised couldn't be used to sell the PPV nationwide. If he said that on a RAW taping, he'd be the laughing stock of the IWC right now. Most fans know when Cena said that about his match with Punk being bigger than his match with Rock, he's blowing smoke up our asses so we'll buy the MITB PPV. Cena himself doesn't believe that either, or he wouldn't have tried so hard to goad The Rock into a match...

See, THIS is what I took issue with. Yes he can. You added the nationwide quantifier.

From the beginning I was referring to him selling the PPV to a nationwide audience. Obviously, he can sell a PPV to the fans in Perth if the WWE has live events there. And I added the term nationwide b/c that was implied by me since the beginning, but you clearly didn't catch my meaning. Why would I say he can't sell PPV's to a Perth audience? WWE being there kinda proves otherwise...

Anybody Thrilla 07-10-2011 12:02 PM

That's what the fuck I was wondering, guy.

captaincharismark 07-10-2011 02:01 PM

If you had understood that I meant he can't use a untelevised promo to sell a nationwide audience on a particular PPV, then you wouldn't have had to wonder. But, point made either way...

Yikes.

Shadrick 07-13-2011 01:30 PM

Anyone have any idea what city he's talking about? Where he turned face? Where he won his first title? Where he debuted?

EDIT: He debuted Survivor Series 1996 in Madison Square Garden, won his first world title in St. Louis at the Kiel Center, but his first face turn was somewhat gradual. Somewhat.

Londoner 07-13-2011 01:42 PM

That's more like the rock i know. Said everything that needed to be said.

Londoner 07-13-2011 01:46 PM

Also loved the music at the end there.

Anybody Thrilla 07-13-2011 01:59 PM

I like how they can promo on each other to build the Mania match without even addressing it on TV. WWE is taking full advantage of the internet these days. About time.

Lock Jaw 07-13-2011 02:00 PM

Pretty awesome promo. Shouldn't be wasting this material off of TV.

Also, whoever edited the video for him, needs to center-pan The Rock's audio.

Anybody Thrilla 07-13-2011 02:11 PM

NERD ALERT

Wolfpack423 07-13-2011 02:28 PM

The Rock and John Cena feed off each other so well. That was an awesome video you posted. I thought he was going to hint at possibly being at Money In The Bank which would be awesome as he would realistically have a problem with both Cena and CM Punk.

Lock Jaw 07-13-2011 02:35 PM

I think he was hinting about Survivor Series at MSG, since that is where he debuted. That is still quite some time off though. "I am coming to kick your ass before Wrestlemania! ... Eventually... in November...."

Rammsteinmad 07-13-2011 03:57 PM

Was interesting to hear Rock refer to the 'Attitude Era'.

Yeah, from the sounds of it, he definitely meant this year's Survivor Series. So, tag match of some sort maybe?

The fact that he mentioned "... at that historic arena" tends to sound more like Madison Square Garden than the Kiel Center. Also, he said "his very first night".

It's definitely Survivor Series.

XCaliber 07-13-2011 06:56 PM

Man I hope Vince and CM Punk come to some sort of agreement so he could feud with The Rock between now and WM28 it would be freaking epic.

My thoughts exactly.

This match may be the biggest of all time due to the years worth of awesome hype it's gonna get.

Just letting Rock say what he wants is fucking brilliant and Cena is doing the ole Briscoes MAN UP motto for this one it seems. Gonna be huge.

Jordan 07-13-2011 11:11 PM

Also WWE using the Rock to boost Survivor Series PPV sales is a super smart idea with the decline over the past years.... Maybe we'll get a Punk/Cena return match for the title with the Rock as the ref.
