Better late than never: Robert Roode
For a couple years now, I've just been able to sense that Roode could make a perfect champ for TNA, especially as a heel, and I know a lot of you here have the felt the same. Let's say hypothetically Roode manages to beat Angle in an epic match at BFG. Do you think the fans will buy him as the legit champ? Also do think he could help take TNA to a more prominent level in the business? I know if he kept up the intense attitude on screen I would certainly buy it.

They tried Robert Roode as an arogant heel before he was apart of Beer Money. They even had a big deal storyling where he was looking for a manager. He just never rose higher than mid carder and he ended up becomming a part of Beer Money

The only problem I have is the fact that he's been one-half of a tag team (probably the most popular one in TNA right now but still) for a while now and doesn't seem like they've pushed him towards the TNA title much until now.

Robert Roode probably wouldn't be treated that well in WWE. They don't like to put over talents that came over from other companies for the most part. I mean there are exceptions like Rey Mysterio, CM Punk etc, but they usually like to promote their homegrown talent which in some ways is perfectly fine for the company as they made the stars, but if you sign somebody from another company and then decide to do nothing with them, wouldn't that hurt you as well as you still have to pay them before you future endeavor them. I'd like to see Roode in WWE, but in TNA this has been where he has gotten the chance to shine and I hope his stock rises. Beer Money are the best tag team besides Kings of Wrestling and like KOW both guys are good singles wrestlers too.

Back when I watched TNA, I greatly enjoyed Robert Roode's work as a solo heel. Felt he could easily have been elevated to the main events. Same went for James Storm.
When I stopped watching Beer Money had just been formed. I remember thinking it was a shame that they had decided to stick the two fastest rising heel stars together in a midcard team rather than let them rise to the next level. |
Robert Roode is mint

I can see Bobby Roode winning the title at Bound For Glory this year. He deserves it. And down the line, James Storm would turn on him, igniting a feud between the two.
|
I've always seen Roode as more of a solid hand, someone you can depend on for a good mid card feud but lacking some uniqueness/'it' factor for the upper card

I agree that he hadn't been able to rise appropriately in the past, but I think he was booked poorly. He never needed Tracy Brooks and every win he got was tainted which made him look like he couldn't win legit. With no manager and intense matches and clean wins, I believe he could be a better sell.

About time they are pushing this guy.

It's back to Bobby Roode. Robert Roode seemed to be a big failure when he tried to go into singles wrestling before. I guess they decided it was time for his name change back from when he started out.
Lest we forget Robert Roode's first singles push? It was almost WrestleCrap's Gooker (worst gimmick) of the year. <iframe width="420" height="345" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/yviDJc9uk7g" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> <iframe width="420" height="345" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/pud-5xmYcsQ" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> and THIS (embedding disabled) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pud-5...feature=relmfu |
Don't know why, because he was Awesome.

I like Roode just fine and all, but I don't think he should be the champ right now. I actually feel like James Storm will lose his match and then cost Roode his, leading to a Beer Money break-up/feud. I hope that isn't the case, but that's the vibe I got from that Bully Ray/Gunner/Beer Money promo last week. Roode was doing ALL of the talking, and Storm was just...well, drinking beer.

.....wait a minute. Did Bound For Glory already happen?
|
No Surrender was last weekend I believe. BFG is next month.
