Things that WCW got (Alex) Wright

I've been watching a lot of WCW from 2000 as I missed it around this period (Nash as commissioner = lol) and got me thinking, we talk about the stupid things to come from WCW towards the end, but what do you think were the things they did get right?

Obvious answers are nWo, Hogan Heel turn, Goldberg, but I'm looking for the often overlooked good things from WCW, like the cruiserweights.

Honestly, I was shocked at how over Sid was after his match with Benoit. Best I've ever seen from Sidney.

Kronik... before their horrible match at Unforgiven

Side note, are we just talking 2000 and up?

I believe that's the idea.

This is just an awesome fuckin match. I remember around this time the lower card guys were half killing themselves in matches (yung dragons, three count, natural born thrillers) and then the main eventers were having 3 minute main events

Rollermacka 05-15-2012 01:06 PM

I remember I would watch the first hour/ hour and a half of Nitro and then switch over to RAW for the main events. I thought WCW had a better undercard, but in the main events... it wasn't even close

Hanso Amore 05-15-2012 02:01 PM

I marked out soooooo hard.

Jericho/Malenko should have been feud of the year.

And double up on Hasney, Lance Storm in WCW made my monday nights. He was a fucking star.

Hanso Amore 05-15-2012 02:04 PM

Malenko was more over in that clip than anyone in the Fatal Four way this sunday....

Razzamajazz 05-15-2012 02:09 PM

i thought the idea of warrior returning was great, but in execution it was utter shit

anything from the WCW undercard was great.....

Ultra Mantis 05-15-2012 03:09 PM

Storm, Kanyon and Kaz Hayashi (w/ Jimmy Wang Yang & Jamie Noble).

Booker T, Steiner, and Benoit's push as champions. WCW finally realized they needed to push new stars for the company even though Benoit's was more of a symbolic push while Steiner's and Booker's came way too late to save the company.

Pretty much this, there were a few decent main event happenings but the undercard was always solid.

I agree about Scott Steiner and Booker T's reign, but in their case, it's better late than never.

I preferred WCW to WWF and I was young and pretty much loved every single thing that was going on from like mid '97 until the end. Haven't seen any of it since, so it's still all good in my mind.
