Plans for return being discussed

Quote:

There has been some consideration in creative on how to use Ric Flair if he is to sign some kind of contract with WWE.

The discussion has been for Flair to be used as a manager for Dolph Ziggler.

Right now, the task at hand is to negotiate with Flair a legends contract as well as a talent contract to compensate him for his work for whatever time he would be on television weekly as a manager for Ziggler.

It seems creative is going in the direction of having Ziggler with a manager regardless, potentially if Flair doesn't end up in the role with Ziggler.

One source did say there is also some hesitation among some in WWE as to whether they want to bring Flair in for a weekly role. While Flair is always respected for who he is, his age as well as his history of doing things his way and going off script at times has been brought up as concerns in the discussion.

Again, nothing at the time has been put in place, but this is being entertained as a possibility if all negotiations get finalized.
Ziggler and Flair seems perfect. I just love it. The best in the ring currently and the best in the ring all-time?

Keith 06-05-2012 12:11 AM

Pairing Ziggler with Ric Flair, that's exactly what will get Dolph to the "next" level.

Tazz Dan 06-05-2012 01:51 AM

As long as they don't try to make him all 'Naitchy', I'm all for it.

#1-norm-fan 06-05-2012 02:59 AM

Holy shit, Dolph with Flair as his manager would be incredible... in theory.

Tom Guycott 06-05-2012 03:07 AM

Like TD said, as long as they don't go the route TNA did with AJ Styles.

Flair can basically verbally hand the mantle off to Ziggles, but he doesn't have to literally hand him one of his robes.

Kinda wanna say fuck both of you. Flair is going to overshadow Ziggler by his name. They should let Dolph Ziggler be Dolph Ziggler. He already has the cocky attitude and the bleach blonde hair. He doesn't need the financially wrecked, poorly dressed, 100 year old clone of himself with him.
So how do they get Dolph to the next level? Let him beat up Flair, Brodus Clay, and a guy like Orton (only not suspended for 60 days), and let him do it solo. If they need Flair to return, let him pick up someone else.

#1-norm-fan 06-05-2012 04:03 AM

Flair would be a great full time old school style manager. Putting him with Ziggler would lend credibility to Ziggler actually reaching that next level.

Get out of here with this whole "overshadowing" thing. Do you really think Ric Flair should only manage shitty wrestlers or not manage anyone at all because he might "overshadow" guys? Stop with this.

Tazz Dan 06-05-2012 04:16 AM

I would actually like to see Flair align himself with Ryder. Take a bit of the cartoonish edge of him. The guy can work but needs an obvious character tweek to keep prominent.

Mr. Nerfect 06-05-2012 04:18 AM

I would love to see Flair manage Ziggler. He doesn't need to only manager Ziggler, either. You could have Flair put together a new group or something, and perhaps have guys like Curt Hawkins and Tyler Reks join. Whatever.

Ziggler being joined by Flair would make me interested to see Ziggler vs. Triple H at WrestleMania next year.

dronepool 06-05-2012 05:13 AM

Ziggler and Flair.... I like it. Even the names bounce off each other.

Corporate CockSnogger 06-05-2012 05:19 AM

I'd rather Ziggler just went solo. Flair's an out of breath, slobbering mess on the mic these days.

whiteyford 06-05-2012 05:52 AM

Pretty much what Iggy said, Flairs a cartoon character nowadays, the little of him i saw in TNA was cringe worthy and he'll be a detriment to Ziggler.

Cool King 06-05-2012 07:10 AM

I'm sure if Flair was Ziggler's manager, that the both of them would be mistaken for being/made fun of for looking like a father & son duo.

Cool King 06-05-2012 07:11 AM

Actually no, make that "grandfather and grandson".

Add Billy Gunn in there, then you have "grandpa, dad & son."

whiteyford 06-05-2012 07:14 AM

Iggy will rep you for the Billy Gunn post i'm sure.

Cool King 06-05-2012 07:31 AM

Ah, so that's how it works.

Sounds good on paper. But to be honest Flair's stock has decreased a bit since going to TNA.

Ric Flair never overshadowed Triple H, Randy Orton or Batista when they were in Evolution. WWE is not TNA, Flair would have some guidance and direction as to how to act around Ziggler.

It'd be just a veteran, a legend, giving a younger guy "the rub".

exactly..... Ziggler is more than capable of carrying himself on the mic..... I think it would be best to stick Flair with a newbie (I'm thinking Richie Steamboat)..... Flair could start off as a face manager and slowly turn heel by helping Richie win, with his dad eventually taking exception......

What about the casual WWE fans who have no idea what a TNA is?

Corporate CockSnogger 06-05-2012 10:12 AM

Billy Gunn should come in and just be Zigglers friend. He never comes down to the ring, he just stands with him backstage and occasionally stares at the divas buttocks' with him.

He retired, stay retired..... gees.

retired means he doesn't actively compete in the ring you jack ass, and yes we all know that he didn't stick to that after his mania match with HBK. There is a difference in the equation of being an on air personality and an active roster competitor. And regardless, the name Ric Flair is etched in stone with the pro wrestling world. Whether as an on air personality, manager, or wrestler...Flair still has some potential to enhance talent and be a draw as long as he doesn't get in the ring again.

Keith 06-05-2012 07:01 PM

Ric Flair on the mic would do wonders for Ziggler. He'd make him look like the biggest star to ever step into a ring, and that's what Dolph needs.

James Steele 06-05-2012 08:04 PM

3-man commentary team: Booker T., Ric Flair, and William Regal

ziggler allready has vicky, i wish flair would help out another young talent. i wish he could have another moment like last year with jay in there woooo off

Mr. Pierre 06-05-2012 08:57 PM

Ziggler/Flair is a great idea.

Hanso Amore 06-05-2012 09:29 PM

Start a Ziggler versus hhh story. Ziggler is being held back despite ring the best in the ring. Have Ziggler use mason Ryan as his bodyguard. To even the odds natch shows up to help his friend hhh. During a ppv match at summers lam flair in hhhs corner turns on hunter and lets Ziggler win and become number one contender. Flair says hhh left him to rot outside the wwe. Now he's going to do for Ziggler what he did for hhh.

Flair manages Ziggler to a title win over Seamus and forms a new evolution with Ryan and seth Rollins who comes in and becomes ic champ.

Flair does not wrestle. Just takes a few bumps here and there when he gets involved. Ziggler is champ with a legit stable and push and then defends against a returning hhh.

Something like that would be money.

Hanso Amore 06-05-2012 09:31 PM

Forgive typos. New phone

Emperor Smeat 06-05-2012 09:46 PM

Rather see Ziggler go alone for at least the short term to see if he really can succeed without a manager before thinking about pairing him with Flair.

Ziggler is pretty decent on the mic so maybe someone else who is worse could benefit more from Flair's promo quality ability. Maybe as a long shot Ryback could be paired with Flair in a way similar to Heyman's pairing with Lesnar.

James Steele 06-05-2012 10:45 PM

Flair and Ryback would be a guaranteed skullfuck every week.

Flair/Zigger and Ryback. Ziggler and Flair walk together as Ryback walks in front of them at all times during the entrance.

James Steele 06-06-2012 04:01 AM

Just imagine Ric Flair doing his whole crackhead rants on those poor jobbers as Ryback just destroys them. I do not know if my mind could handle such glorious events.

Tazz Dan 06-06-2012 06:23 AM

I just hope he doesn't wrestle. If he comes back of course.

Shisen Kopf 06-06-2012 07:04 AM

Flair should return and HBK should join him and they can complain the whole time about they both lost retirement matches at rasslemania. So they form this sweet tag team called Sexy Woooo. But Johnny Ace won't let them rassle bc they are retired so they go away.

Keith 06-06-2012 08:56 AM
