BAM

Schlomey 12-04-2012 02:52 PM

I am more excited for this movie than anything coming up in 2013.

Anyone else see Dark Knight movie poster in this?

Just about every commentary so far has.

Schlomey 12-04-2012 03:07 PM

Well this is my first time seeing the poster. Didn't think I'd be alone in that.

It's pretty damn obvious.

Lock Jaw 12-04-2012 03:08 PM

Captain Kirk Rises

Anyways.... I am glad this is finally coming. Seems like it has been way too long.

The similarities are pretty generic, really.

JimmyMess 12-04-2012 03:37 PM

Either way it's still a pretty epic poster. I'd love to see what other movies new or old would look like with this style of poster. Could be some pretty great/funny/epic ones.

I'm getting off topic.

I'm excited for this movie.

Adder 12-04-2012 04:14 PM

Is there anything anywhere mentioning the plot/story outline?

Kalyx triaD 12-04-2012 04:26 PM

The title is actually "Star Trek Into Darkness", with no subtitle.

Hanso Amore 12-04-2012 04:43 PM

Star Trek Faggots

I grew up watching The Next Generation but I was simply a casual fan. The movie released in 2009 really peaked my interest and now I am watching everything that Netflix has to offer. I am slowly becoming a Trekkie. Not so much the faggot part unless that is Klingon for super awesome guy.

Nobody cares.

Well, you will become a faggot.

It's part of the conversion process.

I can take or leave most of Star Trek, but I kind of grew up on the movies, so they have a certain level of sentimental value to me.

RoXer 12-04-2012 08:22 PM

I said in some other thread that I can't find a long time ago about who I would want to write/direct a new Star Wars trilogy. This was before the announcement obviously. I figured this would take place 15-20 years from now. I would have liked Abrams to direct, Lindelof, Orci, and Kurtzman to have a hand in the writing, and Michael Giachinno to replace the probably dead John Williams.

... and they both have the word "Star" in the title.

... and they're both about space.

Eh, close enough.

SlickyTrickyDamon 12-06-2012 04:27 AM

Gary Mitchell? Khan? Trelane? Garth of Izar? I think it's Garth Of Izar.

Tb1 12-06-2012 05:11 AM

Gary Mitchell, with the Starfleet uniform and all. Also, FUCK SHIT LORDY GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Fignuts 12-06-2012 06:06 AM

So is it Khan? Sounds like Khan.

El Vaquero de Infierno 12-06-2012 07:49 AM

Benedict Cumberbatch = awesomeness

BigDaddyCool 12-06-2012 08:08 AM

Why? Khan is Indian not British. Garth of Izar.

Makes the most sense. Former Starfleet Fleet Commander who goes nuts and now wants revenge on the system who kicked him out. He fits the tone of the poster which echoed the Batman posters. A fallen hero like Harvey Dent. Garth trying to destroy what he helped built: Starfleet and the Federation.

Gary Mitchell was already dealt with in the canon-tie in comic book to the first movie.

Slightly more footage in the Japanese trailer.

Schlomey 12-06-2012 11:48 AM

This looks really awesome.

Tommy Gunn 12-06-2012 12:45 PM

I hope this series goes for longer than a trilogy. The Star Trek universe is so rich, there's almost limitless stories to tell.

Then again, a long running film series with the same cast just doesn't happen anymore.

XCaliber 12-06-2012 12:45 PM

I'd say it looks sick but I really hope it's not Khan and where's The Batman?

Benedict is Batman.

Note the way he took down Klingons, despite their superiority.

Only Batman could do that.

Kane Knight 12-06-2012 01:06 PM

Batman would have beat the Kobiyashi Maru scenario without cheating.

XCaliber 12-06-2012 01:47 PM

After watching this a few times I couldn't help but notice there's no Checkov yet everyone else is featured including Alicia Eve who's likely to be going by her uniform is Nurse Christine Chapel hmmmm.

XCaliber 12-06-2012 02:03 PM

Then again it could be Elizabeth Dehner which supports that Benedict Cumerbatch is playing Gary Mitchell but then again the Japanese Trailer has a scene that parallels a bit Wrath of Khan too fascinating.

There are breakdowns on the web, and I'm surprised none of them I've seen have suggested she was Nurse Chapel. Seemed like a fit.

Kane Knight 12-06-2012 03:53 PM

Batman would have beaten Locutus with ant-Borg Bat-repellent.

Nowhere Man 12-06-2012 05:22 PM

Even if Cumberbatch isn't Khan, that scene with Kirk and Spock putting their hands on the glass is very clearly a callback to Spock's death scene from Wrath of Khan. So it looks like they're at the very least doing some kind of parallel to it.

The Destroyer 12-06-2012 05:47 PM

I really wish I could sound like Benedict Cumberbatch.

GAAAWW!;)

DLVH84 12-06-2012 09:20 PM

Hopefully, for the 3rd and 4th one, whoever plays Spock on the new film series, stars and directs, just like Nimoy.

Or it's a swerve.

I mean, I agree that it looks very much like there will be parallels. I'm just saying that people have predicted Khan to be in this movie since before the first one came out, so maybe they're toying with us on the parallels.

Or maybe it is Khan.

Just saying.

Kalyx triaD 12-06-2012 10:38 PM

...Could be a new villain altogether, or perhaps a mix of two iconic villains. This is an alternate timeline after all.
