As much as I hate him as a person, his new album is awesome.. I think his douchebaggery helps him..

while this isn't even close to true. it is funny because you idolize a guy who pretty much took his whole shtick from david bowie and alice cooper.

Yeah, there is a difference- he gives them credit for it. Kayne comes off as original when what he's doing isn't that new, it's just hasn't really been incorporated into the mainstream.

Kayne think's he's some music messiah or something. He's wearing stupid spiked leather jackets and trying to be cool BY doing something they think is rebellious like Rihanna (who sucks and looks like a shark fucked ET) and taking taking from other style, while I have no problem with people adapting a look because they like it, their reasons are fake.

Just listen to Saul's album with Trent Reznor. Anything Saul makes is better. Kayne is a good producer or whatever and his new stuff is better, a lot better than his old crap but it's not really something that amazes me.

Kanye has never hid the facts he samples, hisentire career is based off it.. both his solo shit and when he was producing for rocafella

dronepool 07-10-2013 02:26 PM

Has he ever cited his influences though? I mean you have to give credit to samples. I'm not anti-sampling samples or anything. He basically sampled the whole industrial/electro/alternative rap style and people are all over him.

Kris P Lettus 07-10-2013 02:29 PM

Im sure the linear notes give credit to all samples, but I don't know for a fact cause ive neverbought hisalbums..

dronepool 07-10-2013 02:53 PM

I'm sure they have. He'd get sued. They have to ask for copyright permission. Did he ever give credit to artists he got inspired by though?

Kris P Lettus 07-10-2013 02:59 PM

Yes by sampling their music

Kris P Lettus 07-10-2013 03:01 PM

I don't understand what you are saying

If I go see a band and they cover a song by another band, I understand band A is fans of band B, without them stating it out loud..

one that i can think of off the top of my head is the track "otis" which is named after who the song sampled, otis redding. so......yeah, plenty of credit. i think you're just saying shit to say shit.

Wehttam 07-10-2013 04:33 PM

so kanye ripped off saul because they are proud black men who are a bit angry? man, saul williams broke some new ground there.

I'm saying how I feel about a hip hop artist in a hip hop thread.

Listen to The Inevitable Rise and Liberation of NiggyTardust and you'll see what I mean. It's cool that Kayne is doing new stuff in a played out genre in the mainstream but Kayne does not seem that genuine to me. Like he took that whole leather jacket and black clothes thing because it's become trendy to be dark or have some rocker image. 10 years ago most of the typical hip hop fans who like him wouldn't even think of that look as cool.

Now I have ghetto kids giving me compliments on my vest with band patches, which is nice but odd.

Basically I'm saying Kayne is an over hyped artist. This has nothing to do with samples or covers. Kayne took what Saul Williams was doing and people are all over Kayne saying how amazing and innovative he is.

dronepool 07-10-2013 09:03 PM

With that out of the way my final words on this last discussion: Kayne West is a gay fish.

So let's continue the hip hop discussion.

I hope Dr. Dre's Detox finally comes out this year...

i've listened long ago. i actually don't have anything against either, but they aren't 'that similar' at all. just looks like you trying to shoehorn in something less 'mainstream' just to hate on something that is mainstream. boring
