New Network Cruiserweight Show '205 Live' Announced

Quote:

A one-hour, in-ring program called 205 Live, showcasing WWE’s new Cruiserweight division, will premiere Tuesday, Nov. 29, at 10 p.m. ET, exclusively on WWE Network. The live weekly show will be called by Mauro Ranallo, the voice of SmackDown LIVE, and Corey Graves, color commentator for Monday Night Raw.

This is right after Smackdown instead of Talking Smack... And talking Smack is on straight after this. Guess they wanted to start taping Talking Smack.

#BROKEN Hasney 11-02-2016 12:42 PM

Like are Smackdown crowds going to stick around for this, or are they just going to be empty?

Evil Vito 11-02-2016 12:43 PM

So much for Monday Night Raw: Exclusive home of the Cruiserweight division.

That being said, this could be fun if the guys are less restricted in the ring and they actually create some semblance of storylines for them.

I have to think they'll either tape it before SmackDown goes live, or it's actually gonna be taped in Florida.

It's 205 LIVE brother, not 205 Taped.

slik 11-02-2016 01:13 PM

No, don't get rid of Talking Smack!

slik 11-02-2016 01:14 PM

I'm glad for the Cruiserweights, even though ANOTHER show with wrestling is the last thing WWE needs (hello, oversaturation anyone)

Black Widow 11-02-2016 01:39 PM

lol,flop

slik 11-02-2016 01:42 PM

I read somewhere else Talking Smack will air after the "205 LIVE" show...why not just air the cruiserweights show on a different night, like Wed or Thurs...

Emperor Smeat 11-02-2016 01:49 PM

Should have done this right when the division debuted instead of having it become a mess on RAW first.

Have the new show as a way to showcase the guys in the division and RAW to continue or create storylines for them.

That's what I said in the OP.

They clearly wanted something live, not sure this will work though.

Jordan 11-02-2016 02:11 PM

I mean they do have a whole network for WWE so over saturation shouldn't be an issue. I don't think WWE expects us to watch all of their programming they are just trying to bring in something for everyone. So good on them, hopefully it is more like the CWC than the division that is floundering on Raw.

The series will debut on Tuesday 11/29. PWInsider.com has confirmed that the plan is for the series to broadcast live on the Network after Smackdown Live goes off the air on the USA Network. "Talking Smack" would follow the Cruiserweight series at 11 PM Eastern.

Unlike the CWC, which was taped at Full Sail Live, "205 Live" will be broadcast live from that week's Smackdown taping, which means that the Cruisers will be working both Raw and Smackdown tapings going forward, making them the only talents to do that on a weekly basis, post-brand split.

It is possible they could tape the Cruiser series before they broadcast Smackdown, but everything we have heard thus far is that the plan is to have a live Cruiser broadcast every week on the WWE Network, 52 weeks a year. The idea here is to create new, original content to make the Network an even more enticing overall package for subscribers. The weekly Cruiser series was among the potential additions to the Network that had its interest tested in recent fan surveys.

Evil Vito 11-02-2016 02:33 PM

I feel like this is just setting the cruisers up to fail. I don't see many people sticking around after SmackDown goes off the air.

because "205 Taped" doesn't rhyme.

Funky Fly is back 11-02-2016 02:55 PM

Will Roman Reigns be on this show? No Roman, No Tape.

Droford 11-02-2016 03:00 PM

People aren't going to hang around after SD to watch the cruiserweights.

205 empty arena live

slik 11-02-2016 03:05 PM

Hardcore fans will stick around for this but casual fans aren't going to hang around to watch a bunch of wrestlers they don't know, especially after they get big names like Dean, AJ, Cena, Orton in the main-events of SD each week.

"Mommy, Daddy, I want to see Drew Gulak, can we stay, can we stay"

Cool King 11-02-2016 03:05 PM

This is just the WWE's sneaky way to make SmackDown three hours just like Raw.

Droford 11-02-2016 03:07 PM

Smackdown cruiserweight champion time

For sure, at first. But if they take the shackles off, it might take off.

It's confirmed its the same roster and same belt. They're working both shows and NXT.

Bad News Gertner 11-02-2016 03:17 PM

If you "take the shackles off" you're going to have half the roster on the Injured list

Triple A 11-02-2016 03:26 PM

Feels like if it's taped at the SmackDown broadcast, it will be shitty, just like the "new ECW" was... Cruiserweight stuff is way better with a smaller crowd that "appreciates" it and stuff...

Also are they still gonna be on Raw too... continuing storylines on both shows? Seems like a mess

slik 11-02-2016 03:34 PM

Wont' be taped, will air LIVE immediately after SD's main-event ends...will air on WWE Network right after SD - from same arena SD was in - instead of Talking Smack, which is getting moved to Wednesday Nights after NXT

Awful

Mr. Nerfect 11-02-2016 03:55 PM

Isn't this dying a death on RAW? It bothers the OCD in the sense that the brand split is already eroding. But I get that they want content for the Network. Going live is going to be expensive though, isn't it? Part of SmackDown's appeal is that it's two hours. Now you've got SmackDown, 205 Live and Talking Smack. It's going to be an even bigger commitment than RAW.

I would have kept things at just the CWC. Make it an annual thing and try to launch one star with every year. TJ Perkins would be fine mixing it up with Dolph Ziggler and The Miz in the IC Title scene on SmackDown, or being an underdog babyface to work with Sheamus on RAW.

Destor 11-02-2016 03:58 PM

They need to pull them off weekly RAW save for a showcase match to plug 205L itself.

Mr. Nerfect 11-02-2016 04:04 PM

That would be the best way to do it. At least its own show will give it a sense of hierarchy. The women would also benefit from this sort of thing in time too.

Probably just bumps up the costs of Tuesdays or Smackdown to whatever RAW is now since those two shows combined would be the same length as RAW.

Maybe a bit cheaper since they won't have to deal with actual tv costs since its Network only but then again probably won't have non-WWE ads for revenue as a trade-off.

Mr. Nerfect 11-02-2016 04:05 PM

But you just know that they are going to stay on RAW. :p

That makes sense. I still think it would be better taped, to be honest. You can splice in a lot of pre-taped stuff that explains who these people are, etc.

Yeah, that's already confirmed

Mr. Nerfect 11-02-2016 05:18 PM

Maybe this will actually enhance their segments on RAW? Maybe more people will check them out on the Network and decide "I really like these guys" and see their segments on RAW as star segments?

Hahahahaha!

The CyNick 11-02-2016 05:45 PM

Its worth a shot. They have the arenas already booked, so the costs are minimal. I think the people that subscribe to the Network will appreciate the CW guys more than the RAW TV audience.

Its all about content. This is another solid move.

Outsider 11-03-2016 06:28 AM

The idea is fine, except with the idea of doing it after Smackdown. Tape it before and show it afterwards would work much better.

Can't help but think a better idea all together would be to combine it with NXT tapings instead though. Although I guess that would mean they would have to double up on the number of tapings held.

If the WCW cruiserweights had their own hour show.

Hnnng

Anybody Thrilla 11-03-2016 12:45 PM

I think this sounds cool. They can at least start feuds on this show and just show highlights on Raw as to not take up more time building for all of those guys. I'll watch it.

Excellent, gives the other half a time to shine.
