Let's talk about Jason Jordan.

I think he's great. His matches are always dope, and he's really growing into his current character. After whatever this tag thing is, I'd like to see him with a lengthy Intercontinental title run where he's doing the exact same character that he is now, but on a grander scale. Could even see him in the Universal title picture one day.

Your thoughts?

screech 01-17-2018 03:00 PM

I'm a fan. I feel bad that crowds kinda shit on him, because he's so good in the ring and he seems to be more comfortable in his role now. I'm interested to see where he goes when he's really "on his own."

Read the other day that he'd "be a total flop" if a singles match with Kurt doesn't happen. I'm not sure that's true, though I'd be down for that match.

Ruien 01-17-2018 03:09 PM

Huge fan. He will be a main eventer.

I don't think he'd be a flop at all if another viable contender is created. Moreover, judging from Kurt's most recent outings, it pains me to say it, but I don't need to see him wrestle anymore.

I'd still be down to watch the match, though.

Anybody Thrilla 01-17-2018 03:12 PM

Random thought...

Remember when he was in that jobber tag team with Tye Dillenger?

Bad News Gertner 01-17-2018 03:21 PM

Wasn't he teaming with some dude name Mike Dalton when NXT first started

Anybody Thrilla 01-17-2018 03:23 PM

Wasn't Mike Dalton Tyler Breeze?

Evil Vito 01-17-2018 03:26 PM

Yeah, Mike Dalton is Tyler Breeze

I think it was incredibly daft that American Alpha barely lived long enough to see its first birthday on the main roster. They didn't even scratch the surface with what those two could've done.

Like, I honestly think their initial plan was to have Shelton go to Raw and use his friendship with Kurt to get a push while Alpha would've put on quality matches and eventually turned heel much like Gable and Benjamin have now done. But somewhere along the line they decided to switch up Jordan and Shelton's roles and turn it into a paternity angle.

I don't think the crowd shitting on Jordan was a criticism of Jordan as much as it was the crowd turning on what was a nonsensical storyline. But they've done a good job to pivot and turn it into something that looks like it's going somewhere. Jordan's great as an insufferable douche who has no idea he's being an insufferable douche.

Anybody Thrilla 01-17-2018 03:38 PM

Interesting theory with Shelton, but if you recall, early into the brand split they were advertising Shelton for the blue brand already. Then I guess he got injured and it didn't even seem like he'd be back at all. Maybe they just wanted that "Shelton" character and decided to let Jordan do it, because it also seemed like they were about to give Gable a singles push. It's all a bit perplexing, but I'm on board with both Jason Jordan and the Benjamin/Gable team.

Evil Vito 01-17-2018 03:46 PM

I thought that too, but when Jordan went to Raw they did a segment where Bryan told Gable that he didn't let his partner leave for nothing, and that he had Angle put in a good word to his friend to get Shelton on SmackDown. So they kinda just swept his pre-injury stuff under the table.

I figured any singles stuff Gable was doing was mostly because the Usos had just started what went on to be a 4-5 month saga with the New Day, so they knew there wasn't gonna be a lot for Alpha to do in the interim.

At least it all seems to have worked out at present.

Anybody Thrilla 01-17-2018 03:51 PM

Remember when Gable and Rusev had that dope ass match? I though something was starting there.

Destor 01-17-2018 03:59 PM

Great in the ring, no charisma. His career will go nowhere.

KIRA 01-17-2018 04:02 PM

I said it before as an entitled, whiny clueless, dick who will destroy you in the ring Jordon is killing it glad he found his feet and glad the company didnt just stubbornly push him as a face like some other wrestlers. They saw the tide and rolled with it.

Simple Fan 01-17-2018 04:03 PM

He's great in the ring and can pull off his characters well enough to get over but I think the Daddy storyline will haunt him the rest his career.

TSI 01-17-2018 04:03 PM

I like his character. Hes going to be a great heel assuming they dont hot shot it and fuck everything up .

Funny. Seemed like people saying that Vince being Ken Kennedy's dad was going to skyrocket him.

Honestly, it's easy enough to get out of. Jordan could eventually admit that he staged the whole thing to try and get opportunities. Kurt's feelings get hurt and he challenges him to a match. Jordan goes over. We sweep it under the rug and move on.

Admittedly, that's not IDEAL, but here we are, and that's a way out.

Simple Fan 01-17-2018 04:15 PM

Of course once Kurt is done with WWE and not around anymore it could fade as well.

Mr. Nerfect 01-17-2018 04:57 PM

I like Jason Jordan. Always had him earmarked for something. Good looking kid with skill. Vince was always going to try. I just don't like how quickly and how he's tried. The Kurt Angle's son stuff is stupid, and he doesn't feel "3D" enough yet. American Alpha would have been a great vehicle to get him more time on the main roster and to organically stand out.

But whatever. The WWE can push whoever they want as hard as they want, however they want, and you either have to lap it up or stop watching.

Anybody Thrilla 01-17-2018 05:06 PM

I do agree that American Alpha definitely still had legs. They could have been the ones battling with the Usos instead of New Day. Or battling with New Day. Or having some sort of three team supremacy thing going on. The split really was jarring.

Emperor Smeat 01-17-2018 05:08 PM

Still mixed on him overall.

He's pretty good in the ring and his whinny & oblivious gimmick is pretty interesting but still feel they split the Alphas too early, his "Son of Angle" storyline is terrible, and his rise is being rushed. Wouldn't be surprised at all if he suffers a 2014 Ziggler-like effect once his association with the Shield ends.

Jordan 01-17-2018 05:10 PM

He's great, his character is slowly finding his way. I think he will wear a big belt within two years.

The Usos should have won the Tag Titles out the gate. Build to American Alpha winning them at Mania. The Usos, frustrated, turn heel, go back after the belts. They can trade them again. Call up The Revival and Johnny Gargano & Tommaso Ciampa to SmackDown. Reap the benefits of the greatest tag team division in wrestling.

Jordan 01-17-2018 05:11 PM

He's REALLY solid in the ring.

It was at the time, but in retrospect it was the right move. Shelton can do everything jordan was doing in the role, and now we have jordan in fantastic singles matches so it all worked out for the best.

Mr. Nerfect 01-17-2018 05:12 PM

It's weird, because if my information is correct, they had The Miz talking about him getting booed before he even got booed? I think they've had this earmarked to be terrible. Well, not terrible as in bad, but the way they think Braun Strowman's stuff is well-produced and effective storytelling -- I kind of think this is going exactly according to their plans.

Mr. Nerfect 01-17-2018 05:17 PM

Not sure how I feel about Shelton and Gable as a tag team. On one hand, I do really like Shelton, and I feel the internet has wrongfully abandoned him as one of the best workers WWE has bell-to-bell. And I see lots in Gable. I HATE the idea of Gable just being shoved with another guy that is sort of meant to remind you of Jordan (you know that's what WWE was thinking), but I think they have gelled incredibly well, aesthetically. I like their theme and attire scheme. I don't like them as heels, as they have always been babyfaces in my heart.

It feels...lateral. Completely lateral. I'm sure Gable is learning heaps and it's a blast, but it just doesn't feel right to put Gable in another tag team with a black amateur wrestler with less personality than him. Maybe if there was more of a journey to them as a team? Benjamin plays more of a grizzled vet and that relationship is explained. It just feels like "Not Quite American Alpha." Dunno. Not entirely on board. Have a feeling they are getting the SmackDown Tag Titles though, so good for them.

Anybody Thrilla 01-17-2018 05:38 PM

I had a feeling that Shelton was going to reject Gable as a partner and go heel from the jump when he came back, but that feeling kinda passed quickly. He just had these facial expressions talking to Daniel Bryan like "are you fucking kidding?".

Mr. Nerfect 01-17-2018 05:41 PM

Yeah, I think the plan would have been to have them not get along at first, but then they just dropped it, because they're not good at telling stories.

Fignuts 01-17-2018 07:14 PM

I agree that it was a mistake to turn them heel. Doesn't feel right.

Danny Electric 01-17-2018 07:31 PM

As a heel tag team they just seem like another variation of The Worlds Greatest Tag Team.

Bad News Gertner 01-17-2018 07:51 PM

His finisher is stupid

Fignuts 01-17-2018 09:36 PM

Yeah, not a huge fan of it either.

Those double northern lights are cool though.

Ruien 01-17-2018 10:20 PM

Don't agree with people saying Jason Jordan does not have charisma. He seems like a Mis where he will be an amazing heel but can't be a face for anything. It's in his DNA.

Maybe he grows into being a good face but he's so good st being a heel.

Mr. Nerfect 01-18-2018 01:10 AM

The problem is that Jordan's best in the ring as a babyface. His fire is tremendous.

That's true. Hard to boo that style unless he switches it up a bit and stops appealing to the crowd. At least he doesn't wear straps to tear down anymore.

He'd probably fit his role better if he changed that fire into either cockiness or uber aggression, but I'm not sure he's ALL the way heel yet.

Mr. Nerfect 01-18-2018 01:27 AM

I'd honestly rather see him come through as a babyface. If he gets over, why fuck with it?

Mr. Nerfect 01-18-2018 01:29 AM

People were always going to be too aware to cheer the son gimmick. But time has passed and now he's kind of growing into the position he needs to be in the ring, because the company needs him there, and people slowly seem to be coming around. I don't know if I would just turn him heel because that was always "the plan." Have him save Rollins' ass and cement himself as a babyface. Give them a proper team name (not The Shield) and let them match their attire up. Proper tag team those son of a bitches up.

Anybody Thrilla 01-18-2018 01:32 AM

I guess a face run could be salvaged, but it'd take some serious redirecting from here. There's a chance they don't have a plan anyway though, so that may not be as hard as I'm imagining.
