What was the point of EC3 in NXT?
 

Why was he sent to NXT first rather than MR? I think he had appeal which would have made him an instant hit on the main roster if he had started from there or had entered in RR like AJ. I think WWE has wasted a year of his career by having him on NXT.

I agree he probably could have gone straight to the main roster. Not sure if his time in NXT has been a waste though, haven't seen alot of it.

His run on NXT: Redemption as Derrick Bateman was more entertaining.

That awkward overacting when he cuts a promo is soooooo bad. Should have just brought him back as “USA Guy”. An over-the-top comedy character is probably the best use for him.

Though, to be fair, even that was thanks to the fact that Johnny Curtis is a Goddamn legend.

Yeah, I think over-the-top comedy fits him best.... I say that without ever really seeing any of his TNA stuff though, so maybe he will prove me wrong...

That was all on Johnny Curtis. EC3 is just chicks, america and Dixie Carter.

His NXT character seems to be pretty much what it was after Dixie left TNA. Was essentially Authority Randy Orton when he first come in being with Dixie and Spud. He and Spud where pretty good together, he also benefited from guys like Sting, Kurt Angle, and Bully putting him over on their way out. TNA protected him alot and I don't think he'll have that luxury in WWE.

I think they should put Paige with him since she isn't GM now.

This. After Sin Cara, they're probably very careful about who they debut without the NXT treatment.

It's probably got a little to do with hierarchies and talent not just simply coming in with the red carpet.

I still think a large part of that was the dumbass gimmick lighting. Yes, he botched a lot, but why make it harder for a guy in a full face mask to fucking see just for "effect"? I'm sure that was a contributor to his matches being a shitshow when he was supposed to be this great deal from Mexico. It isn't like he was totally green like Eva Marie.

... nor does it help that WWE pretty much just wanted his rat-faced wife back to push her to the moon, and he was collateral damage. And likely he is in the proverbial doghouse for knocking up his own spouse, depriving them of their precious prize.

Maria is pretty hot.

And she gives more of a shit about the business than the vast majority of the Diva Search bimbos. She had a strong comeback as the Sunny to Bennett's Candido.

She could've easily just tried to something else once she left wwe.

Good for her. She is hot and she's worked hard. Doesn't make Mike Bennett interesting though.

It's nice that she's worked hard. It's nice that she could have gone and done something else instead of staying around wrestling. How very Gail Kim of her. I don't agree in the least that she's hot. I never have. But whatever.

Good on her for getting her man a job, because I'm pretty sure if he wasn't a stipulation for getting her back, they wouldn't have bothered. He's like the reverse Marc Mero, and it shows*. When the orginal Kingdom was a thing in ROH, I couldn't really tell the difference between Cole, Taven, and this guy. He does look and move pretty "default", and there's nothing to him. Hell, his WHOLE WWE GIMMICK revolves around being married to Maria, and that should tell you something. And she's not around. So now, his gimmick is like that Chris Masters stint when he was off the gas and noticeably smaller even though his entire deal was his super jacked-up physique.


*Mero's case is that they wanted Johnny B. Badd, and ended up getting Sable by accident and Sable became the bigger star. Maria was already the attraction in this pair, in case anyone needed that clarified.

That is a fair observation on Bennett. An observation even I made. I even joked that you could replace Mike with any random dude and no one outside of Maria herself would notice or care. But I stand by him as Candido rather than reverse Mero.

EC3 is boring as fuck and he looks like a sex offender.
