Bands like Switched are the reason that I rarely listen to the radio...
...But on the rare occasion I see one of these band's videos or hear their singles, I thank GOD there's such a thing as MP3s...

radio being utter shite is the reason i don't listen to the radio.
MP3s are by far the best thing that ever happened to real music. |

not really, you can't blame the bands, just the turds who sign them and the turds who play them. Not the bands fault they suck and people have no taste
|
I can and I will.
|
ive never heard of Switched, but bands like Foo Fighters and Blink 182 (whiny, hippie bullshit) is the reason i dont listen to the radio much.
|
Foo Fighters and Blink are hippies?
Come on, they're the best examples of corporate rock out there...Well, Blink at least. FF aren't too far behind, what with their embracing copy protection. |

Basically the people I call "emogrrrls" and "Wusscore."
I think it's horribly ironic that people bitch about the liberals being too soft on this shit when Tipper is one of the people most responsible for pushing for a PG (Or PC) world. But really, it's not tipper and folks in thiscase. It's corporate media. It's not an issue of profanity and censorship, or Eminem couldn't get on TV to save his life. It's because corporate media. They market to kids, who control mommy and daddy's wallets these days. It's business, pure and simple. That's why we get corporate pussies. Whining sells well to teens who don't understand that they're not special for going through such hard things as puberty and adolescent social awkwardness. It's not because it's PC, it's because it sells. |

The reason I dont listen to the radio is a few reasons, I cant stand the teen/ pop idols, Rap, R&B and the mutalation of any song/band that i may have begun to like, and hear it blasting on every teeny boppers car radio as they sing the worlds all wrong and try to dance. Makes me want to go home and listen to something depressing :'( to counteract the bright cheerfulness of those big fat phonies. I am now to embarresed to listen to the latest Blink songs (which most i liked) at fear of been branded as one of them, and dragged of to the mall to shop for many unneed items of clothing and pairs of shoes. Squeal at the site of someone you remotly know and running over to hug them, even though just last week you were bitching about them to anyone who would listen. :nono: Oh wait, i forgot the large ammounts of plastic jewllery. The short skirts and the pre ripped shirts saying "im a punk girl" UUUGHhhh, please. :nono: (Try name one band.) They are going to have a hard time changeing their wardrobe, when next season they realise, black is out, and frills are in. Wow, i didnt think i could so many sterotypes into one post... Did get a little side tracked though. :-\ Go me, anyway, i feel better now :D </font> |

The stuff they play is so sickeningly repetitive... |

Well, let me rephrase that. Why let it rule you? (Besides, it's not like Blink is suited to anything other than marketing to teenyboppers. :p) |

The problem is both on the supply and demand sides. |
Foo Fighters don't sound like Blink 182 at all.

Shock and Awe mentioned them as the reasons why he didn't like radio. He then described them the same way, as "whiny, hippie bullshit".

I don't like quoting posts, so that might have confused some of you simpletons. ;)

Rage Against the Machine and Good Charlotte are both guitar-oriented. That doesn't mean I just said they sounded a lot like each other. But I can see where you might be confused. ;) |

I've got a couple of Five songs on my MP3 player. I'm not worried that people will confuse me for a boy band fan. Similarly, I don't worry people will think me a Nu-Metal fan because I have a few Linkin park songs on my MP3 player. I don't worry people will think I'm an emo fan, though I like Coheed and Camrbia's latest (Though I don't know if I like the lyrics, because I don't pay any attention). So that's where I'm coming from. I like what bands I like, regardless of genre or what people might think of me. I can't much see it being a big of a deal anyway. No amount of music could change who I am, and I know who that is, no matter who else does, or what others think of me. So i'm just wondering, what would make it such a big deal. |
KK, did you mean SwitchFOOT?
|
Whatever the Hell they're called. That really bad pop/rock group on TV.
|
They've alwayd been really bad...the crossover to secular music helps none.
"All they did was change the word "Jesus" to "baby."" |
Another "Sell your religion to make it big" act?
There's a shocker. |
Hmm, well there is a band called Switched, but they're not particularly poppy (as third rate nu metal bands go)...
