Hey friendos, we're back at ya with another round of TPWW'S TOP TEN! As always, I’ll give you a category, you give me your Top Ten nominations unranked and in no particular order. We’ll compile the lists and come up with “TPWW’S TOP TEN” for the week. One nomination equals one point. Top Ten nominees win.

For clarity sake, I'm treating a ladder match, TLC, and Money in the Bank as separate entries. I think TLC and MITB are unique enough to be categorized as their own thing.

Battle Royal Fatal Four Way Hell in a Cell Ladder Match Lumberjack Match Royal Rumble Street Fight TLC Match War Games I love normal battle royals and think they deserve their own spot away from the timed entry battle royal (the Rumble, of course the GOAT match) I can't bring myself to consider MITB as different from a ladder match but I can be sold on TLC being something different just because you know other weapons will be involved. That said, TLC and HIAC are both things that WERE great and the high points of those matches warrant inclusion but in the past 12 or so years WWE have driven them into the ground. Lumberjack might be an out there choice but I do like some of the fun stuff you can do with booking those. Ie a heel "handpicks" the lumberjacks and it's heels only clearly being biased. Bonus points if they actually have leather straps to use. Also you always get a token clusterfuck brawl which I pop for. Fatal Four Way is another out there one but I prefer them to triple threats. Triple threats often just turn into "take one guy out of the match, the remaining two do a singles match, third guy returns, another guy gets taken out etc). Fatal four ways don't always fall into that trap. |

- Submission Match - "I Quit" Match - Last Man Standing Match - Steel Cage Match (somehow these feel more special than HIAC these days because you don't really know when one will be) - 1 vs 1 Ladder Match (very rare these days) - Survivor Series Elimination match (even though they are pretty much trash these days, but that is more to do with everything being trash. The concept is still solid) - Gauntlet Match (When booked correctly and actually telling a story with it they can be exciting as heck... pretty much made Kofi Kingston a WM main-eventer a few years back) - Iron Man Match - Falls Count Anywhere (for the fun of seeing where they go) |

I remember the one time in my e-fed, I won the right to book a card.... and being an egomaniac I just legit booked every single match to do with me like...
"Who can pick up my dry cleaning first" match where the opponents raced and fought for the right to pick up my laundry and get it back to the arena. "Who can sell the most of my merch" match where they literally just competed to see who could move the most merch with my face on it. Then there was the straight up "build me a tribute/statue match" where they just built a shrine in my honour that I would judge. And a few others that I forget. People hated it so much. |

Wish I could put HIAC or Ladder on there but I think I might be forever worn out on them.

Last main roster WWE was Andrade vs. Rey Mysterio for the US Title on a RAW January 20, 2020
Last PPVs to have a 1v1 ladder match seem to be the TLC PPV in 2018, 2016.... etc Money in the Bank 2015 had Seth/Dean in a ladder match for the title.... but also had a multi-man ladder match earlier in the night.... There were some 1v1 at Extreme Rules PPV events as well... But the last non-NXT and non-gimmick PPV 1v1 ladder match seems to be No Mercy 2008 Chris Jericho vs Shawn Michaels |
Last one I remember was Kurt Angle vs some jobber where kurt didn't even use the ladder.

I've always been a fan of the 'Loser leaves town' matches.

I would have put that on my list but I didn’t include that or hair vs hair/mask vs mask, etc. because I put them in a different category since they don’t effect the match directly.
Also, when I was a kid, I fucking loved “Manager in a shark cage” matches for some reason. Strongly considered that. |
