All of the Wyatt Family has been released

Loose Cannon 07-31-2021 12:52 PM

Never saw that coming . Really can’t wait to hear the story about what happened to him this past year ever since his quick and puzzling loss at Mania

Bray was easily my favorite character for the past 10 years and he honestly had a hell of a run . His runs were always go/stop, go/stop, go/stop and I wish he had gone over more in a lot of his feuds , but whatever, it’s WWE.

I’m sure we’ll see him show up somewhere soon

owenbrown 07-31-2021 12:52 PM

:fu: WWE

Evil Vito 07-31-2021 12:54 PM

I'm actually not that surprised. It's felt for a while that he was never returning.

Supposedly he'd been a bit of a wreck mentally since Brodie Lee passed, and only came back for the Mania run at the company's request although they were going to allow him to go back on leave again right afterward.

Loose Cannon 07-31-2021 12:55 PM

Apparently he’s in the best shape of his life too , which puzzles me about this even more

Evil Vito 07-31-2021 12:59 PM

Pretty much through Bray's entire run there would be months and months at a time where they were doing nothing with him, both because of injury and also because his character is a very unique one that has to be managed carefully to avoid being "overexposed"

Of course even with the time off they still gave him crap to work with most of the time. Ah well.

slik 07-31-2021 01:01 PM

They usually refer to people's real names when they release them, I wonder why they used his ring name

Loose Cannon 07-31-2021 01:03 PM

Maybe because someone else will play The Fiend now lol. Actually, I can easily see them doing this .

Evil Vito 07-31-2021 01:10 PM

I think they simply moved his entire gimmick to Alexa and for better or worse are going all in with it, The Fiend is dead

Evil Vito 07-31-2021 01:10 PM

As atrocious as I think Alexa is in that role, she's gotten massive pops since crowds returned. It's clear a big portion of the audience eat that shit up. So I don't see it changing.

GD 07-31-2021 01:21 PM

This is very disheartening. For all the questionable booking decisions, Bray Wyatt showed a great deal of promise.

Yeah, this.

When I read the thread title I figured his issues at the moment were just too much.

More time with JoJo now to raise and make more kids.

Like Strowman, idk if he would "fit in" in AEW...

Very boring wrestler imo...

New Dark Order leader?

I'm don't want him in AEW but if he is headed there...

Maluco 07-31-2021 01:28 PM

Really creative guy who was stiffled by baffling booking and never winning a feud.

He came up with two great, memorable characters that really intrigued me (the complete casual they have forced me to become) and this horrendous company can’t capitalize on anyone or anything.

No matter what you think of the characters, Wyatt and Braun got over and should have been stars. The fact that both are released instead shows the complete ineptitude in 2021.

The slide continues

Wyatt could go...he just chose to pace himself for his size.

I see what your saying, but I think if AEW wants to keep growing, they need more of the WWE “characters” that are marketable to another segment of wrestling fans . AEW is known for guys who can wrestle and put on fantastic fast paced matches, but to me they lack the “larger then life personalities and characters,” which someone life Bray can bring to the table .

I think a good wrestling company has a good mix of both styles

All of the Dark Order members have been very vocal about how there will never be another leader. Especially after everyone jumped at the idea of making Black the new leader when he got released. I feel like Bray wouldn't want to be the leader too for the same reason.

He can join the Dark Order. Maybe slowly reveal himself as a heel try to take them over from the inside and turn them evil again, leading to Hangman or someone having to save them. That could be a fun angle without ever making him successfully be the leader.

But I'm ok if he doesn't go to AEW. Not even sure if his heart is still in wrestling honestly, hm getting it great shape might've been more about his own well-being.

My memory could be completely wrong but.... weren't Daniel Bryan and CM Punk teaming up to feud against the Wyatt Family right before Punk left? AEW should sign Bray, Eric Rowan, and Braun Strowman and have them feud with D-Bry and Punk like nothing happened

Damian Rey 2.0 07-31-2021 04:09 PM

Budget cuts Lmaooo. Really sad honestly. He was a great performer who did great character work, and somehow always rose above the shitty booking her constantly received.

erickman 07-31-2021 04:34 PM

put him with rosemary in decay what's wray bright doing in the impact zone.

Sepholio 07-31-2021 04:46 PM

And there it is. There's the thing that made me say F WWE right in their eye holes.

xrodmuc316 07-31-2021 05:17 PM

Yeah cant say I agree with this decision. There is no way that Bray wasnt making WWE way more money then they were paying him.

I was shocked when they released Braun, because former World Champions dont just get released.

Bray is a multi time World Champ. I legit cannot think of a single other time when a multi time World Champion was released by WWE.

Danny Electric 07-31-2021 06:30 PM

Mickie James reaction on twitter

“ I think what you meant to say was: “Thank you so much for coming up with such an incredible gimmick(time & time again)one so cool & over, we really didn’t know how to book it right. So we just gave it to someone else so we can still make ALL the money off of it & let you go”

MORE ON THE BRAY WYATT RELEASE

By Mike Johnson on 2021-07-31 15:19:00

PWInsider.com has confirmed with multiple sources that WWE chose to release Bray Wyatt and that the word going around was that it was a budget-related reason, similar to other big cuts, such as Braun Strowman. It was not a case of Wyatt asking to be released.

We are told that Wyatt was called by John Lauirinaitis (who wasn't even at TV this week as he's in the middle of moving back to Connecticut) and informed it was simply a budgetary decision and not something Wyatt had done.

To say that the reaction within the company was stunned would be a massive understatement given how plugged into licensing the Wyatt character has been in recent years. The Fiend had been a massive hit for t-shirts and action figures.

One source pointed the finger squarely at WWE President Nick Khan and CFO Kristina Salen, stating that they are so "obsessed" with the company not being even one iota in the red on the financial ledgers that even after the most recent financial quarter, there had to have been a push to cut costs where with previous regimes, there would have been more leniency.

Others noted that Wyatt and Vince McMahon's relationship behind the scenes ran very hot and cold at times and that McMahon has given Khan the ability to run things far more than anyone else has historically been able to accomplish, so there was likely less of a push-back over the idea of cutting a big money contract from the ledger.

Another source pointed that Wyatt's 90 days would run out the week before AEW's Full Gear and how Vince McMahon may have been very prophetic about handing AEW other assets during yesterday's media call.

For those who have asked if there are other releases coming today, we have heard nothing that leads me to believe that is the case.

good thing about now are the wrestling companys are all working togather he can do short term with anyone and show up other places. just watch impact you get wrestlers from all brands but wwe.

#1-norm-fan 07-31-2021 09:54 PM

What a fucking waste from day one.

Damian Rey 2.0 07-31-2021 10:11 PM

It amazes me that Bray was on the verge of a breakout going into Mania 30 and not even a decade later, despite constant reinventions that get over, he’s gone.

slik 07-31-2021 10:36 PM

Alexa Bliss had to lock her Twitter account because she's been getting attacked/death threats all day by psychos blaming her for Bray being released

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Poor Alexa having to lock her account. <br><br>So much misdirected energy. <a href="https://t.co/IYYZRNVlfv">pic.twitter.com/IYYZRNVlfv</a></p>&mdash; SoDuTw (@SoDuTw) <a href="https://twitter.com/SoDuTw/status/1421659442232373249?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">August 1, 2021</a></blockquote> <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
