Bobby Eaton passes away at 62
:wavesad:
|
2021, you're just being a little bitch, aren't you? RIP
|
RIP. Smooth as silk.
|
Fucking awful. Possibly the greatest tag wrestler ever. I know his wife very recently passed away just 2 months ago and Bobby was suffering from severe memory issues and recently had a fall.

One of my all time favorite wrestling stories involved Bobby Eaton.
Charleston, SC. McCallister Fieldhouse. My Dad, my uncle, and I had front row seats. Bobby Eaton was wrestling Terrence Taylor. One of the big moments in the match saw Taylor going over the guard rail in front of me. A big right hand and Terrence was in the next section. And my dad had to grab me because 10 year old Vastardikai thought it would be a good idea to kick Taylor, who is a lot bigger than he looked on TV. I still remember the Tortilla chip on his back. Eaton won, as he was the TV Champion at the time. Same card featured a street fight with JYD and Ron Simmons vs Angel of Death and someone else. All I remember was Angel of Death bleed. And the cage match between Sid and Barry Windham vs El Gigante and Brian Pillman. Pillman bled a lot in that one. |
Looks like Bobby had been in the hospital for a while with Congestive Heart Failure
|
Very sad news.
|
Bobby Eaton was a staple of my childhood intro to wcw on Saturday night. Of course there are loads of clips on social media as tribute. Guy is criminally underrated.
|
There's a simpleton that comes into my mall and when he leaves he says to you "See you later Bobby" no matter what your name is.
So, as a sign of respect to a great wrestler - See you later Bobby. |
:(
|
Just saw Jericho donated $5000 to Bobby's GoFundMe.
|
I know most people obviously associate Bobby Eaton with the midnight express, but my first exposure to him was the blue bloods, and it is still my favorite part of his career. Those vignettes were tremendous.

Listened to the Bobby Eaton tribute podcast Corny did just there. Corny is inconsolable, weeping and going all high pitched...
Pretty hard to listen to at the start and end. I don’t like hearing somebody that upset. |
I usually put his podcast on before bed but I decided to hold off on this one. Not exactly something I wanna fall asleep to.

The worst part for me, though, was how relatable it was. The way Jim started the podcast was exactly how my dad - a very stoic, stern, and even keeled individual - sounded when he called me to give me the news about mom. It was the sound of defeat; a man's heart breaking. Only in this case, live for the whole world to hear. |
It’s hard to hear somebody so angry so muted

It’s heartbreaking hearing him that cut up. All he does is thank him and tell funny stories. Probably the nicest but most badly produced podcast Jim Cornette will ever do. Brian keeps his mouth shut until asked in too so it’s a stream of Corny sadness for ages. |
In case anyone wondered just how well liked Bobby was, Corny literally sobs during this thing.
You’ll never hear him do that again. No way. |
Prepare yourselves for an hour of nice. The least scandalous wrestling interview of all time. He really was just a lovely guy. R.I.P. Bobby Eaton, the nicest bad guy the world may ever have produced. |
There are parts of that interview that put him entirely into perspective as a man.
I say parts, he is as polite and jovial there as a man who didn’t wrestle in the 80’s. Sort of unbelievable but totally believable at the same time. |
Bobby Eaton officially confirmed as the “heart and soul” of decency in an indecent industry.
No wonder Corny cried so hard. |
an amazing 32 part Best of the Midnight Express set.

Just finished the Experience. Fuck what a heart wrenching listen
|
Yeah that was tough. Worth the listen though.
|
This one hit harder then the others because of all the stories over the years on how he was the nicest guy. It's crazy that his wife died a month or so back, right? 62 just seems so young for a guy that probably didn't party or do heavy drugs or use roids. Just a huge loss for the industry.
|
It was the bumping that did for Bobby.
You can’t fling yourself around like that without rattling your brain and spine a hell of a lot. If they do an autopsy he will 100% definitely have CTE. |
