Cargill, who was AEW's longest-reigning TBS champion and appeared on AEW television as recently as two weeks ago, will start with WWE on Tuesday at its Performance Center in Orlando, Florida, officials said.

It remains unclear if Cargill will go straight to the WWE main roster or if she will first perform for its developmental brand, NXT.

Cargill, 31, has been wrestling professionally for only two years. Her in-ring debut came in AEW as part of a high-profile mixed tag team match in March 2021. She teamed with NBA legend Shaquille O'Neal against Cody Rhodes and Red Velvet. Rhodes, one of Cargill's mentors at his Nightmare Factory in Georgia, signed with WWE last year (after helping found AEW in 2019) and headlined WrestleMania 39.

Cargill was the first AEW TBS champion and held the title from Jan. 5, 2022, to May 28, 2023, a span of 508 days.

The Florida native is considered a major future star in pro wrestling and beyond. The 5-foot-10 Cargill was a fitness model before wrestling and has nearly 1 million Instagram followers. She played Division I basketball at Jacksonville University. Her partner is former Cincinnati Reds player Brandon Phillips. Cargill and Phillips are owners of a Women's Professional Fastpitch (WPF) team, the Texas Smoke.

The worst kept secret is now fact. I bet Tiny is telling everyone "It doesn't matter. She won't do anything over there"

GD 09-26-2023 11:41 AM

His comments were surprisingly supportive.

This will be a big nothing burger, as usual.

Helmsphere 09-26-2023 01:23 PM

Wasn't Jade already on the roster and going by the name B-Fab?

Supreme Olajuwon 09-26-2023 01:24 PM

Wooo Brandon Phillips

Good move for her. Obviously much higher visibility in WWE and this will raise her profile for even a post-wrestling career. With her physique and presence she could easily end up in movies if she's got acting chops.

Good for her in-ring career too. Aside from visibility, she always had a ceiling in AEW because Tony Khan really doesn't seem to care about the women's division. 4 years in, they've never gotten away from "we can only have 1 women's match on a card" booking. And outside of PPVs and her final match with Kris, she was only ever in squash matches and you can only develop so much doing the same match over and over again.

I mean if that were the case, he’s probably correct.

Tiny said of Jade:

I just didn't want to renew her contract, because her wrestling just wasn't good enough. Also me and Megah are Brown, and I book Bowens, Caster, Dante, Nyla, Isiah & Marq Quen, Keith Lee, Swerve Strickland, and Prince Nana on my shows every month!!!

LibSuperstar 09-26-2023 04:24 PM

I saw Cargill in WWE but didn't think it would be so soon.

This is undeniably true BUT this also means she’ll have to up her in ring game. There’s a very clear hierarchy in WWE of great women wrestlers and everybody else. It’ll be interesting to see if she’s a Rhea or a Raquel.

Unless it's Do FIXER, I don't want to see any group dance numbers in my rasslin

Sting Fan 09-27-2023 12:48 AM

Its a good outcome for her, bigger company with more media opportunities and they can work on her in ring stuff. I quite enjoyed her AEW run but it was clear they were booking around her weakness in the ring at times ala Goldberg.

If she can ratchet that up a level and WWE get behind her she has a chance to be a big deal in WWE I reckon.

A loss for AEW in the longrun perhaps but early enough in her run that they dont lose a whole lot now and she did the honors for Stat as she left. Kinda nice to see a by the numbers break between a wrestler and company.

Mr. Nerfect 09-27-2023 02:27 AM

Good move for Jade and the WWE. Sucks to be the minor leagues.

Damian Rey 2.0 09-27-2023 01:56 PM

I like Jade but I don’t think this hurts AEW and to honest, WWE has a shit record of actually elevating anybody regardless of talent and ability that it’s unlikely she’ll be anything more than a very tall, ripped and sexy face in the crowd before long. It’s more likely she’ll be fed to Charlotte and then move down the card and do nothing of note for most of her run. I hope that’s not the case because I think Jade has a huge ceiling.

Splaya 09-28-2023 10:55 AM

This 100% hurts AEW especially if WWE does something of note with Jade.

Cody goes back to WWE and is super over

Jade leaves AEW and becomes super over.

While other people will lack the star power of those two, if you can leave and go be successful in WWE, why stay with AEW to hang out with Tiny and his elite troll dolls.

Mr. Nerfect 09-28-2023 01:06 PM

Brian Pillman, Jr is another one. Ricky Starks and Wardlow could be two more. AEW is modern day TNA in more ways than one.

Probably because you’ll be making good money for less dates, having more creative freedom in your matches and potentially getting an opportunity to do things WWE isn’t going to give you.

Also, Cody was very over in AEW until he refused to turn heel while also handicapping himself with a stupid stipulations. He’s been over in WWE but he also isn’t in better a spot on the card there than he was in AEW. Heavily featured, presented as the ultimate babyface, but still not the man even tho he probably should’ve beaten Roman.

I will say from the short promo VT on NXT, Pillman Jr. has never looked better.

WWE did more with his story in that 10 second vignette than AEW did at all.

Mr. Nerfect 09-29-2023 04:47 AM

It wasn’t hard. AEW does not know how to shine a positive light on anyone.

Mr. Nerfect 09-29-2023 04:47 AM

New Japan guys look like shit when they come over for that reason too.

Maybe. I was just pleased not to see him on screen.

Hey Okada, can you make an appearance for us to promote the next show? Oh, and dress like you just got back from a food bank!

Mr. Nerfect 09-29-2023 02:12 PM

At least they threw in a Tony Khan hug for the guy to make it worth his while.

drave 09-29-2023 02:27 PM

You just want him to hug YOU, you big ole AEW Lover

drave 09-29-2023 02:27 PM

Just don't try to lick any coke off him now, k?

Mr. Nerfect 09-29-2023 06:39 PM

I’m surprised you can get that out with your fingers so tightly planted on the guy’s cock. You jerk him as he jerks the dog. If some jizz gets on his boot it’s just seasoning for you, right?

Mr. Nerfect 09-29-2023 06:44 PM

Besides, no one wants to hug Tony Khan. Have you seen the pictures?

They announced her signing on Smackdown and made a pretty big deal out of it. I chuckled when Graves dropped the "SHE IS A GAME CHANGER" line.

XL 09-30-2023 05:05 AM

And how they leaned into the Storm comparison.

Why would you suggest that? Jade Cargill is the best thing to have happened to the women's roster in WWE since Rousey. They should feel lucky that she agreed to sign with them despite the cringe inducing "This is your family now" line. She's one of the greatest pro-wrestlers of this generation and deserves all the fanfare.

Why would I suggest what exactly? Graves taking a shot at AEW calling every signing ever a "game changer" was especially funny because an AEW wrestler signed with WWE, hence why I chuckled.

I feel like Darlene would have understood that.

GD 09-30-2023 01:49 PM

She's truly a game changer. You know it in your heart.

He main evented wrestlemania. Is there a better spot on any card than that?

GD 09-30-2023 02:21 PM

Wondering if CM Punk will finally main event WrestleMania on a Saturday...
