Spyware help...

Norton has picked up lycos ss.exe (adware keeval) on my computer. I've attempted to remove it through norton, and attempted to follow their instructions...It tells me to use add/remove programs to remove the file (In safe mode). It's not there, however, leaving me stuck for a result.

Anyone know what to do?

(System: windows 98 SE, I can proviide other details).

Not to be a smartass, but it's not a hidden file is it?

Not to be a smartass, but can you even have a "hidden file" in the add/remove programs settings?

The link doesn't work because it won't show up in my task manager (The site itself says win9X does that).

why not try using ad-aware instead of norton, it helped me get rid of some spyware norton found and coudlnt' get rid of a long time ago, i duno if it'll help or not, or if this is obvious advice, but get it off download.com... ad-aware 6.0 by lavasoft

I had that. It was a bitch to get rid of, but I set Adaware to scan on start up and it got the fucker.

Lycos is stooping pretty low with this.

Ihave it on my computer.

The only reason I was doing it on Norton is because it caught it, whereas AA didn't.

I'm runnin gan updated search since Funk mentioned he got it, so my fingers is crossed.

Yeah, I should mention that McAfee Viruscan picked it up but couldn't remove it. Make sure that you set adaware toscan at startup.

So did it work?

Since Norton's still picking up a threat on my comp, I'm guessing no.
