Heiden-Hype?

OK, come clean. Does anyone else think that this whole Heidenreich thing COULD possibly work? Being serious, yes I think it can. I'd love to see Heidenreich literally no sell everything in the ring, and dominate guys with a powerful finisher (I'm thinking maybe a Stunner performed from various positions like a vertical suplex or Osaka Street Cutter type variant. Maybe even a cobra clutch Osaka Street Cutter), maybe call it something like the Heiden-Hype or Heiden-Swipe.

I'd love to see something done where Heidenreich destroys Michael Cole on SmackDown!, only for someone like Ivory or Dean Malenko to take his place for a few weeks. Then when Michael Cole and Josh Matthews return Cole (and maybe Matthews) really put over Heidenreich as if they were a heel. Matthews (if he stays a face) then feuds with Cole in sort of a Coach/JR/King thing. I could also see Matthews stepping in the ring after this whole ordeal.

Just posts ideas you can see coming from this Heidenreich thing.

ColdwaVer 08-28-2004 10:21 AM

I see him stumbling into a few clumsy feuds and then being sent back to OVW or released. I really don't think even Heyman can save him from that, since even Nathan Jones seemed better suited to a push.

Shaggy 08-28-2004 10:48 AM

I see a few feuds for him....a shirt coming out that says "Its not Hype its Heidenrich" and then I see him going back to OVW. Maybe not all in that order. :)

Favre4Ever 08-28-2004 01:21 PM

I dunno, I thouught he did ok. I'll give him a chance. However, FYI: A man with a tattoo that strategically placed above his nipple will never become WWE champ.

Mayo 08-28-2004 01:37 PM

He reminded me of Gillberg in this pic:

The sooner he goes to OVW, the better

Head 08-28-2004 02:45 PM

He sucks.

He's being built up as a monster, when he doesn't even look impressive compared to guys like Brock, or Batista.

What Would Kevin Do? 08-28-2004 03:25 PM

There's only one way to save this. After failing repeatedly, Heyman turns on Heidenreich. Heyman berates him saying that he isn't a monster, he has no impact, yadda yadda yadda... Later in the night, Luther Reigns turns on Kurt Angle, and Heyman aligns himselg with Luther.

The CyNick 08-28-2004 03:38 PM

Its an odd thing. Paul was really good selling him to the fans. Josh was good at selling his beating and what little Heidenreich had to do he did well.

The problem is that he is not skilled. Eventually he's going to get in with someone who will expose him (probably Holly) and any aura he has will be gone.

As was also pointed out, he's not really that big compared to guys like Batista, Brock, Kane, and others and just wait till Big Show comes back to the same roster stands beside him and dwarfs him. So what we'll be left with is a fairly big dude who sucks in the ring and looks lost most of the time. Seems like a recipe for success to me.

Disturbed316 08-28-2004 06:16 PM

Ooooooooooh big bad Heidenrich beat up an annoucer, oooooooooooooh we all better like him and believe he's not hype ooooooooooooooh big scary man :|

Seriously, sooner he is off Smackdown the better.

Paul Heyman could sell a can of spam as a legitimate threat.

MVP 08-28-2004 06:24 PM

Just consider Heidenreich's run on Smackdown a flurry time that will eventually pass.

Sometimes WWE can recognize poor talent and send them back to OVW, and not bring them back.

Mr. Nerfect 08-28-2004 07:26 PM

I thought the beating Heidenreich gave Josh Matthews was extremely brutal, and the fans where all into it. I don't like the way a guy that can't either do a 450 Splash, or roll around the ground at 45/mph they are immediately labelled as crap. As long as they have him face cruiserweights for a while, and have them sell his moves, and he no selling theirs, he could be a huge asset to the company in the long run.

You don't have to be huge to be a monster, you just need to be big. Heidenreich matches that. He reminds me of a cross between Ken Shamrock and Brock Lesnar at the moment (despite having none of their wrestling ability). All he needs to do is appear psychotic and deranged, along with Heyman continously telling us his surname.

Impact! 08-28-2004 09:44 PM

i watched heidenreight at the return of the deadman tour and its pretty funny cause if u think he doesnt sell your wrong he faced billy gunn and was selling like crazy and he still looked crap he barely beat him, i thought when your supposed to be hyping a monster you make them DESTROY PEOPLE,

but then again it is the wwe :nono:
and if they've made JBL the champion then anythgings possible :shifty:

Fox 08-29-2004 02:23 AM

It could work if it weren't for the fact that I still remember "Little Johnny."

I'm soooo fucking scared of a guy who talks to his penis.

That's exactly what I thought. Not having RAW, last Thursday was the first time I've ever actually seen him. He looks a bit scrawny for the gimmick they're giving him (if he's indeed gonna be the next monster). Matt Morgan has a much better look, for instance.

To be honest, when I saw him, I thought he'd make a great neo-Nazi person. He'd be someone really psycho and evil and sadistic. That could probably suit him better. He wreaks destruction, but in a much more sinister method.

I would not use the old monster push, especially when Big Show is a couple of months from returning.

tazmaster 08-29-2004 07:10 AM

What the hell whas Heidenreich saying as he entered and left the ring? It sounded like, "It's not white boy day!"?!?!

Cruiserweight 3:16 08-29-2004 08:26 AM

Remember when he jobbed two weeks in a row to Rico on Raw???

LK 08-29-2004 01:21 PM

Didn't see Smackdown. What did he do.

And to answer the question I doubt he will work. I don't think even Heyman can save him.

He basically got pissed off at Josh Matthews when Matthews asked Heidenreich if he could live up to the hype. He gave him a stiff looking punch in the stomache, a shoulder breaker (which looked sick), a catapult into the ropes which was followed through by Matthews falling on Heidenreich's knees (which looked even sicker), and finally a cobra clutch that lifted Matthews off his feet above Heidenreich's head for short periods of time. Fans at ringside where really into this, with a few guys chanting "Hype! Hype!' Hype!", and others booin gtheir heads off. I'd honestly say that was candidate for best heat of the night.

All the while our savior (Heyman) was shaking his head repeating "Oh Josh." as if he were disappointed with his decision to piss off Heidenreich.Over all it was a great segment all around. :y:

Take your pick, depending on your modem speed.

<font color=cyan> Aw, come on guys, everyone should get a chance...... now if only I could say that with a stright face.

In all honesty lets give the guy a few weeks before we <strike>send him back to OVW</strike> (ah, sorry, first thing to come to mind) judge him. He could be a <strike>useless hoss</strike> (sorry again) decent heel. Maybe <strike>nothing</strike> (oops, I did it again) Heyman can save 'em? He just might be the biggest <strike>waste of time since the Diva Search</strike> (I'm not going to say sorry for that one) sack of crap <strike>in the world</strike> (damn it, didn't mean to do that!) on SmackDown.

LK 08-30-2004 05:54 AM

Thanks man. That did look brutal.

KillerWolf 09-04-2004 03:15 PM

what's the deal with that guys pecs?

sensai86 09-05-2004 05:59 PM

Let me state for the record that the only reason I'm giving this guy a chance is because of Paul Haymen, that it. He looks a little bit better in the ring, but remember the only people he's destroyed are CWs. Let time go and well see if he has something and if not...there's always "Little Johnny" :wtf:

The CyNick 09-06-2004 12:04 AM

Read the reports of the house shows, he still sucks. Just wait till they want him to go 17 minutes with Taker on a PPV.

Loose Cannon 09-06-2004 12:41 AM

I don't understand why they use Heidenreich when there's a guy named Matt Morgan down there right now. I know Matt needs more time, but come on. If they're calling people up, at least call the guys who are decent.

Volchok 09-06-2004 01:10 AM

like Mordicai?

LK 09-06-2004 05:15 AM

Yeah it's easy to make a guy look impressive when you get him out and to a couple of alright looking moves but when the matches start then he will be exposed once again as a guy with very little talent.

Well, why have him wrestle matches? Why not have the as the psychotic big man that doesn't go down. He wouldn't even be required to take an arm drag if booked right.

Mordecai aka Kevin Fertig is a good wrestler, the gimmick is what killed him.

LK 09-06-2004 12:25 PM

What the hell are you talking about Mega. The character was the good thing about him. I liked him as well but his performances in the ring were not at a sufficient calibre.

Aussie Skier 09-06-2004 12:56 PM

I diasagree

the modecai character was never destiend to succeed IMO.
i mean, it would be a great character 10-15 years ago

however, i think now, due to the breaking of kayfabe, these sorts of characters r no longer viewed as being serious, undertaker excempted

Actually not bringing up Morgan is one of the only signs that someone up there still has some sense. From what Ive heard Morgan is one of the only guys in OVW with a legit future, especially since he has a ton of size. Last year when he was brought up before he was ready, he was exposed and looked kinda dumb. At least with Heidenreich you know he has no potential, so there's no loss in ruining his career by bringing him up before he's ready. He'll get exposed, then squashed by Taker, and likely end up in TNA or something. But with Morgan, there's a future there, so the more time they keep him away form WWE TV the better.

SammyG 09-06-2004 03:45 PM

Maybe he's the person who wrote the I know notes to Booker T... Little Johnny knows...

Chavo Classic 09-07-2004 12:43 PM

NATHAN JONES = HEIDENREICH = SHOE THROWN AT T.V.

Corkscrewed 09-07-2004 05:48 PM

I think he should lose to Taker in a buried alive match.

Except maybe they actually bury him alive? :D

Yeah, that's cruel. Maybe they should kill him first, then bury him. :shifty:

Corkscrewed 09-10-2004 01:33 AM

Oh man, that Heyman/Cole segment was hilarious!!!!

Long: "You're gonna fight a WWE announcer!"
Heyman: "I'm not gonna fight Tazz!!!"

Long: "It's not Tazz!"
Heyman: "Cole? .... that stupid flaming metrosexual...!!!!"

And that whole Heidenreich interference segment was hilarious. Someone should have tripped Cole... he looked like such a pussy. It was classic!
