Movie You Just Watched

Rajah has something like this going. I think it would be a decent idea to let us know which movie you just watched, whether or not you liked it, etc. It's a good way to up your post count and to recommend stuff [or not recommend stuff]. So, I'll start.

A couple days ago I saw Ed Wood for the first time in a while. I still don't know whether or not I liked it. Nothing really happens in it and it's a little boring [and weird as fuck], but the performances are incredible and the movie-making itself is excellent. It's something I can appreciate as a great movie [especially since the story of Ed Wood is pretty hard to make a legitimate film out of], but not something I'd watch over and over again.

Then, last night, I watched The Godfather for the first time in a while. I can't really say anything about The Godfather because if you don't at least understand that it's godly, you should die. It has also inspired me to see The Godfather Part II. It's shameful, and I've been dying to see it for a long time, but I haven't had the opportunity. But my friend's brother just got the trilogy DVD's, so I'm borrowing it from him this week to watch it.

I also think it's just short of stupendous that you people who hate me so much get to post in a thread started by me, House of Pancakes. Well, so long.

I watched Modern Times with Charlie Chaplin last week, and I watched Nosferatu (the 1922 version) yesterday.

Gouda 09-28-2004 07:16 PM

I watched Nosferatu the other day too. In school of course... but nevertheless I still watched it. Loved the way Nosferatu looked.

I like seeing someone your age taking an interest in such classic films. :y:

Just got back from class, watched "Birth of a Nation". lol, most unintentionally funny movie of all time. So ludicrous.

Great movie.

And :y: to those who watched Boondock Saints. :shifty: Haven't seen it in sometime actually.

House of Pancakes 09-29-2004 01:22 AM

This is also shameful, but until this week, I hadn't seen any of the original Star Wars movie since I was little. I also didn't know anybody who had them, so I never really got the opportunity. I watched A New Hope last week and although I understand what it was, I didn't find it too great. But tonight I watched Episodes 5 and 6 and I rekindled my relationship with Star Wars. Great movies.

BCWWF 09-29-2004 01:24 AM

I just watched "I am a Fugitive from a Chain Gang".

Thats because I just got back from my History of Film course, its from 1932, but it was still a pretty badass movie.

Gouda 09-29-2004 01:51 AM

Hell yeah. Film classes rule all.

Kapoutman 09-29-2004 05:47 AM

I saw Demolition Man recently. I used to love this movie when I was young, but it does not seem so good now.

TheNamelessOne 09-29-2004 06:53 AM

The Man Who Knew Too Little. I have no idea why this movie gets bashed so much. I thought it was hilarious.

Dazz 09-30-2004 12:20 AM

Halfway through watching the uncut version of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, pretty good so far, seen it before years ago, but that was the cut version, not that there's been any difference so far. I don't think horror films are scary but they are pretty good to watch, especially uncut versions. Cannibal Holocaust Uncut SHOULD arrive tomorrow :D

Danny Electric 09-30-2004 12:59 AM

The Wild Bunch

Great Western film, Sam Peckinpath is the man.

Cannibal Holocaust is a crap film. I'm sorry that you're putting youself through watching it.
It's just sick.

Dazz 09-30-2004 01:05 AM

Maybe to you, but I like films like that, I've seen parts of it before, and its the kinda film you want in your DVD collection just because the uncut version is ridiculously gory. I haven't seen it all before, but as long as I don't dislike it, its £9 well spent.

I am a massive horror film fan but when I saw it I thought it was just a waste of time but as you said you've already seen soem clips so you know what it's like.
I should have The Hills Have Eyes at my door tomorrow. :)

yianni 09-30-2004 05:20 AM

Watched Kill Bill Volume 2 at a mate's place last night.

Apprentice 09-30-2004 05:45 AM

Re-watched Shawshank Redemption... again.. for the 40th or so time. Lost count.

El Capitano Gatisto 09-30-2004 02:13 PM

The Cooler, on DVD. Pretty good film. William H. Macy and Alec Baldwin are great.

Fox 10-03-2004 03:12 AM

Watched three movies with my girlfriend last night.

Angus - Classic story of the underdog overcoming all odds, in this case, a fat kid who's good at science becoming homecoming king (a plot to embarass him in front of the whole school, planned by the Dawson himself), and how he gets the girl of his dreams. A lot of funny parts, but predictable.

Vacation - This movie is a great family vacation film, and in my opinion the best of the series. Besides, you get a great shot of Beverly D'Angelo's tits in their prime. Chevy Chase is classic, too. "We're gonna have fun! In fact, we're gonna have so much god damn fun we're gonna need surgery to remove our god damn smiles!"

Apocalypse Now - More of a work of art than a movie.

Boondock Saint 10-03-2004 05:57 AM

Just watched Super Size Me.

DaveWadding 10-03-2004 06:39 AM

I watched:

Clerks. (last night)
Fahrenheit 451 (last night as well)

and

Secret Window (just finished)
