How do I block outside connections from coming in to my wireless network?
My dickhead neighbor is totally leeching my cable connection, and using it to download a bunch of music, and it's making me lag like crazy when I am trying to game online. It's really fucking annoying, I've tried asking him to stop and he denies that he is on my network, but when I open iTunes I can see his fucking network-shared playlist right there, and new songs are constantly being added to it.
:| :| :| :| My router is a linksys something or other, I know they all use the same address (192.168.1.1) to manage, so if someone knows how to password a network that would be awesome, I need to stop this leeching fuck. :| |
There should be a password function on the Linksys router.
Log onto the router setup page and I there is a section somewhere (probably under wireless settings) that allows you to set a WEP. |

first of all, change the name of your wireless network and then do what vietnamese crippler said, MAKE SURE YOU USE SOME TYPE OF PASSWORD/ENCRYPTION METHOD and then when you go to connect on your laptop, you have to type in the password that you used as security on your router |
- Enable WEP at 128 bits-HEX on your router. (That's a 26 characters password, should keep him off)
- Disable SSID Broadcast and change name of the network. (Won't be able to know what he is supposed to connect to.) |
