Arena League Football

So, I was sad that:

A)Saints are no longer playing
B)that's about it

Well, upon hearing that New Orleans is getting an Arena Football team, I felt slightly better.. New Orleans Voodoo..

I watched some the last couple of season (after NFL was over).. They start Feb.8 and I'm prolly going to alot of the games this year.. Sounds like fun...

So, anyone a fan or watch some of the games?? Does your town have a team?? If so, what teams do you like?? Any players to watch out for??

Discuss..

AareDub 01-13-2004 11:34 PM

I watch the games occasionally. I think the team here is the Dallas Desperados or something. I know the mascot is right, not sure if they are Dallas or Texas or whatever. I guess that shows how big of a fan I really am huh? I really just started watching because when I went to the Univ of North Texas I know some chicks from the dance team that were cheerleaders for the team.

I'm just looking forward to having something to entertain me untill NFL preseason...

:o

It looks high paced and high scoring. Maybe vince should have went this direction with his XFL stuff.

I don't follow it myself.

im not a big fan, they tried to move a team to Winnipeg but then they played an exhibition game and they got something like 2000 people to it. needless to say they moved somewhere else.

Watching this is torture. I can make it through afew months without NFL. Ok I lied.

VonErich Lives 01-14-2004 08:27 AM

There's been talk of New England or Boston getting a team for a while, that the Krafts were going to get a team.

I dunno, I've watched it a little... can't say I don't like it, but would rather watch college.

We have the Cincinnati Swarm. Theyre an arena2 team

meaning we get the players not good enough to even make the AFL

Kris P Lettus 01-14-2004 06:35 PM

Damn, I wish some of yall had "real" teams so we could talk shi</>t like during NFL season..

:wavesad:

Supreme Olajuwon 01-14-2004 06:40 PM

I dunno

do you watch Mississippi State stuff cause they pounded Xavier in basketball last week :o

Kris P Lettus 01-14-2004 06:44 PM

They almost beat UK (Kenntucky) last night..

:o

The Outlaw 01-14-2004 07:54 PM

They should have.

Tucky got lucky on that BS shot. :o

Supreme Olajuwon 01-14-2004 07:57 PM

When Pitino was at Kentucky he wouldnt schedule Cincinnati because he didnt want to play Huggins style of defense. Tubby still hasnt scheduled them and Pitino has to play them twice every year now.

I hate UC btw. Xavier all the way

I can pretend to be a Desperados fan and say "those sorry ass (insert your local team name here) are going down beeeyatch!!"

I'm going to make an attempt to be interested in it this year, some good rivalries in the forums might help hehe.

They jsut had a blurb on the AFL on TSN. They've expanded to 19 teams now. John Elway is an owner as well as owners of NFL teams. Bon Jovi bought a franchise for Philly for this year. They've got a NBC TV deal, so hopefully with the extra exposure, I'll get a chance to give it a good look. Me and football are love/hate. Right now I'm getting more in love with it again, so it would be a good time to watch it.

Kris P Lettus 01-17-2004 12:39 AM

They use to show it on NBC (or ABC) the last two seasons...

:-\

Jesus Shuttlesworth 01-17-2004 01:31 AM

I watch it if I see it on or whatever.......I can watch any type of football

I remeber seeing a lot of guys going both ways and all the teams have pretty sick looking helmets haha

The Outlaw 01-17-2004 02:08 AM

Ya know what's good about the AFL?

They have slowly built it up rather than having the first game be in primetime Saturday nights on NBC.

But yeah, it's a good league to have around after the NFL season is over. I watched some of it last year and liked it.

AFL > NFLE

I like the AFL. Sure, it's no competition with the NFL, but it's a worthy temporary replacement
