One of the best finishes I've ever seen

I just watched the HBK/Benjamin match on Raw 2 weks ago for the 1st time and that finish was so fucking awesome. Benjamin got tossed over the ropes, but landed on his feet. Then Benjamin leaped off the ropes and HBK caught him with a superkick. god, Benjamin is fricken ridiculous. What an athlete. Awesome match.

So to make this a thread for everyone, post your best finishes you've ever seen to any match.

McLegend 05-11-2005 01:47 PM

Bret Hart rolling Mr. Perfect into the sharpshooter @ SummerSlam.

There are others I have to think about.

John la Rock 05-11-2005 01:48 PM

one that comes to mind (even though it wasn't really a finish) was Brock Lesnar super-plexing Big Show making the ring collapse

also Owen rolling up Bret out of nowhere at WM X

NoRoolz 05-11-2005 01:48 PM

Yeah that finish was amazing, so too was the Benjamin/Y2J finish the night before at Backlash. Benjamin is awesome :D.

McLegend 05-11-2005 01:49 PM

I got another one

Brock made Hogan pass out to the bear hug on SD.

redoneja 05-11-2005 01:58 PM

Low Ki hitting a Phoenix Splash on American Dragon, while American Dragon has Christopher Daniels in Cattle Mutilation, and then hitting the Ki Krusher on Daniels for the pin.

Lesnar reversing the Tombstone into a F-5 at No Mercy 2002

Danny Electric 05-11-2005 02:00 PM

Bret v Austin (Wrestlemania 13?)

When Austin just passed out instead of tapping out.

John la Rock 05-11-2005 02:00 PM

Oh man how can I forget

Shane's Van-Terminator on Vince at WM X-Seven

Loose Cannon 05-11-2005 02:04 PM

I love the quick "out of nowhere" kind of finishes the best. At Slamboree 1993, Dos Hombres (Steamboat and Zenk) went for that tag team move to Austin and Pillman where the one babyface has one heel in one corner and the others are in the other corner. Then Steamboat and Zenk tried to whip Pillman and Austin into each other.

But Pillman reversed it and Zenk went flying into Austin, who caught him with the Stungun out of nowhere and pinned him.

*The Stungun was Austin's finisher at the time where he would catch the guy in like a bear hug and quickly drop the guys neck down on to the top rope.

Bret Hart v. Roddy Piper at Wrestlemania 8, I believe it was.

Piper has Hart in a sleeper hold and it looks to be all but over for the Hitman until he kicks off the top rope, rolling over backwards onto Piper. Piper is caught off guard, with the sleeper hold still locked in, but with his shoulders pinned to the mat. Hart wins via pinfall.

Yea, they did that same finish at Survivor Series 96 with Bret and Austin. Awesome counter.

DaveWadding 05-11-2005 02:08 PM

Bret/Perfect and Bret/Piper as mentioned.

Loose Cannon 05-11-2005 02:10 PM

When Jericho would catch the crusiers in the Walls (the old school one) after they attempted a flying move. Those were great.

redoneja 05-11-2005 02:11 PM

British Bulldog reversing a sunset flip to pin Bret Hart at Summerslam 1992

Bret Hart ducking a chair shot from Shawn Michaels, and Taker getting hit, allowing Bret to pin him for the WWF Championship at Summerslam 1997.

RVD having to hit TWO 5-Star Frog Splashes to pin Jerry Lynn at Hardcore Heaven 1999

Razor Ramon dropping Jeff Jarrett out of the Razor's Edge when his knee gave out(it had been worked on all match) allowing Jarrett to use an inside cradle for the win- IC Championship match at Royal Rumble 1995

Speaking of RR 95, Shawn Michaels skinning the cat and knocking the Bulldog over the ropes to win the Royal Rumble

Damn, I almost forgot about the Hart/Austin match at Survivor Series. I wanna watch it again right now.

Anybody Thrilla 05-11-2005 02:15 PM

Oh, here's one a lot of people probably don't even remember...

It was a Saturday Night's Main Event. The British Bulldog was defending the Intercontinental Championship (the one he won from Bret Hart at Summerslam in Wembley) against Shawn Michaels.

This was the first time I recall seeing the turnbuckle spot, which is to say where a heel removes a turnbuckle to use the exposed steel to his advantage. Earlier in the match, Michaels had Irish whipped Davey Boy into the corner, and the Bulldog sold the back injury during the duration of the match.

Anyway, for the finish...Davey Boy seems to have the match well in hand, about ready to finish it off. He takes Michaels up to the top rope to attempt a superplex, but when he lifts him, his back gives out and Shawn kinda flips over into a crossbody and lands on him, getting the 1-2-3. Shawn Michaels won his first singles title in the WWF.

That match was fucking sweet.

redoneja 05-11-2005 02:18 PM

^ Yeah it was pretty awesome for the time period. I still remeber that, even though I was a little kid at the time.

Loose Cannon 05-11-2005 02:19 PM

yea, I remember that. That's one of the macthes I really want to see again as I only saw it once.

First ROH show, yeah that was amazing

I liked the ending to Samoa Joe/Austin Aries. Joe goes for the muscle buster (cradle suplex/bomb), Aries reverses into a crucifix bomb, then goes on a rampage knocking Joe out (a couple running forearms), he kicks Joe in the knee, then blasts him with a stiff kick to the dome. Joe is close to dream street, Aries picks him up and gives a brainbuster (a move he tried to get 3 or 4 times before in the match). Aries goes to the top, 450, 1-2-3.

Loose Cannon 05-11-2005 02:21 PM

Oh, how could I forget Orton's RKO on Foley at Mania 20.

JR: 'Orton won it in the bottom of the ninth.'

Anybody Thrilla 05-11-2005 02:21 PM

I have the tape of that SNME somewhere, but I can't find it for the life of me. I believe the other matches were Bret Hart v. Papa Shango and The Ultimate Warrior and Randy Savage v. Money Inc.

Speaking of WM XX, Benoit flipping HBK out of the ring on a SCM attempt, HHH going for the Pedigree, CROSSFACE!

Anybody Thrilla 05-11-2005 02:25 PM

I'm surprised nobody's mentioned Hulk Hogan versus Kevin Nash for the WCW championship. :shifty:

Scarface 05-11-2005 02:49 PM

Benoit with Triple H in the crossface on Raw couple of weeks back. Best bit about it was, that I couldnt have predicted Benoit winning that match so I was shouting tap, tap.

Tornado 05-11-2005 02:51 PM

If Orton had pinned Taker after reversing his chokeslam into an RKO, that woul'd have been pretty awesome.

That was contrived, but a HOLY SHIT moment indeed.

PorkSoda 05-11-2005 03:10 PM

I loved the Benjamin/Micheals finish a few weeks ago.

So hard to think....

I liked the Hart/Backlund finish from Survivor Series 1994. When British Bulldog got knocked out and then Backlund got Hart in the Chicken Wing and Hart woulden't submit. Then his mother had to throw in the towel.

redoneja 05-11-2005 03:20 PM

Oh yeah, I can't believe anybody hasn't mentioned some classic ECW finishes like:
Beniot powerbombing Sabu off a table that was straddling the top rope
Bam Bam Bigelow driving Taz through the ring and then pinning him
Tommy Dreamer and Raven trading DDTs back and forth until Dreamer FINALLY pins Raven
Mike Awesome hitting a Super Sit-Out Awesome Bomb(long name huh?) on Masato Tanaka

Savio 05-11-2005 03:23 PM

Austin/Vince St Valentines day Massacure.

Anybody Thrilla 05-11-2005 03:25 PM

The Big Show's debut?

Savio 05-11-2005 03:27 PM

yup

ROFLMAO!!! That might have been one of the funniest things I've ever seen!!

Xero 05-11-2005 04:18 PM

LMAO! The fans' reaction is what got me.

Anyway, my favorite finish has to be WrestleMania 13, Bret vs. Austin. It showed how tough Austin really was.

Corkscrewed 05-11-2005 04:19 PM

"Makes sense... you get more momentum going off the top rope."

(Fans) "HOLY SHIT!! HOLY SHIT!! HOLY SHIT!!"

"Oh my god! All that from an ass punch!!!"

  The chat WAS priceless.

Esoteric 05-11-2005 04:26 PM

hahahhaha the ass punch should be used in the wwe

Hired Hitman 05-11-2005 07:57 PM

When Kurt Angle Angle Slammed Shane McMahon off a wooden board that was on the top rope.

M. Banana 05-11-2005 08:58 PM

When Big Show F-5'd Jordan.. I think it was.
