Randy Orton is a classy guy

- The following comes from Randy Orton's official website, RandyOrton.net

I checked my e-mail like I do every tuesday when i get home off the road, and saw how many of my friends and relatives were questioning whether or not i was legitimatly hurt during my match with Rob last night (1/12/04) on RAW.well, for those who are interested here is what occured. Within 3 mintes into the match RVD threw me into the ring post while on the floor, normally I would get my hands up in time to soften the impact, but if you watch it in slow motion, youll see one hand was too low and one to high. I cracked the top of my forehead on the post, leaving a cut that needed 10 stitches, and lots of sweeling. I have been knocked out before, and I was definitly knocked goofy, but not unconcious. I was however disoriented enough were I had trouble with balance and vision. During the commercial break I was pretty much inoperable but with about 30 seconds before the break was up, I had this sudden adrenaline rush, and with a few deep breaths I started to gain some perception back. Now I would like to comment on RVDs performance . He is the reason that match was able to go on. We had 20 minutes for that match. 3 minutes after the bell rang, I was in a state were I didnt quite know what was going on. Rob showed what a Ring General he was, by talking me threw the rest of the 17 minutes of that match.I hate "exposing" the buisness like this, but I feel that as fans, you should hear this so that you can see how difficult our trade can be, and possibly enjoy and respect it more then you do already.

:y: Props to Orton for praising RVD like that. Maybe/hopefully management noticed it too? Or he at least told them.

Kane Knight 01-16-2004 03:37 AM

Wow. That was awesome of him to give that kind of props to Rob.

Bad Guy 01-16-2004 04:57 AM

Good stuff. Although to be 100% honest, I couldn't really tell during the match.

Corkscrewed 01-16-2004 05:00 AM

Orton praised RVD? Sweet. That's very classy. But damn, there goes his push. :wavesad:

Hired Hitman 01-16-2004 05:02 AM

Orton

loopydate 01-16-2004 10:18 AM

It's strange. I was watching RAW with my roommate, and when it happened, he said "I bet that's real." I just assumed it was an awesome blade job, because the match looked so good afterwards.

Thumbs up to Orton for giving credit where it was due. I honestly had no clue that RVD had to carry that match while he recovered.

Cactus Sid 01-16-2004 10:22 AM

Its good to see this sort of professionalism, especially from someone who is young in the business giving props to someone who is more experienced, well done Orton for both having the class to praise Van Dam, and also for finishing the match in such a state, :y:

Hardkore Kidd J 01-16-2004 10:25 AM

Orton kicks ass. Major respect for Orton giving props to RVD. :y: :y:

Orton is the man

SuperSlim 01-16-2004 01:52 PM

Corkscrewed 01-16-2004 02:08 PM

Guess people like Orton a lot more now, eh? :D

John la Rock 01-16-2004 02:23 PM

Randy is class act. At least somebody in the company is giving RVD the props he deserves :y:

I don't.

I liked him before, so while I think this is really cool, I'm not really gonna elevate my opinion from like to like. ;)

DMI 01-16-2004 02:47 PM

Ive always liked Orton, I think he has alot of potential. By the way, did anyone else hear RVD say "sorry" when he almost had the 3 count on Orton. Thats when I figured Orton was actually hurt.

Sephiroth 01-16-2004 03:32 PM

Good boy Orton, great of him giving the props to RVD :y:

I'm not exactly AMAZED that Orton would talk good about RVD. I'd like to think that the guys in the locker room generally like and respect eachother.

Wt does amaze me though is I couldn't tell Orton was injured. To nearly be knocked out like that and still put on that kind of match says A LOT about who you are. Wow.

Yeah, that's probably why he used so many ground holds.

I don't think it's that he's talking good about people that amazes people. At least for me, I'm impressed that he did it so publicly, especially breaking kayfabe as he did. He could have said something like "Yeah, we had a good match," but the fact that he said "He is the reason the match went on" is incredibly high praise (and really above and beyond what I'd expect from anyone).

But I do agree that I would hope that, with a few exceptions, most everybody gets along and respects each other.

Shows that Orton is a good guy backstage as well as in the ring.

The Ravishing One 01-16-2004 06:45 PM

just watched it, man that was some performance! Massive respect to Orton and Van Dam for carrying on like true pros!!!!

ColdwaVer 01-16-2004 07:43 PM

You know, I hope next time they have a meeting like the recent ones they point to THIS match as an example of how to carry on.

Savio 01-16-2004 08:32 PM

Yes and not a match with Triple H winning

Innovator 01-16-2004 08:48 PM

if they ever point out this match to show how to carry on in a match, HHH will shoot it down, then say RVD's hair is getting too long.

Vega 01-16-2004 09:30 PM

Didn't know it was real, though he just overbladed. I did get the impression that RVD was talking him through the match after that though, props to Rob :y:
