Lots of hockey news coming up

Well, just been reading on Yahoo and TSN and other sources, it seems the lockout is all but finished, with both the league and union agreeing on a salary cap (finally), and they just need to iron out the details. Apparently it will be finalized by the end of the month, but maybe that's being too optimistic. Who knows. They're saying the NHL players will be able to play in the Olypmics and whatnot too, which is cool.

In other news, Disney sold the Mighty Ducks. Brian Burke is gonna be their new GM  In other sale news, apparently Lemieux is selling his ownership of the Penguins as well.

I dunno, looks like the NHL is finally getting on track, hopefully they'll get all this shit sorted and the 2005-06 season will be underway in no time.

yeah it only took them a whole season to get where the owners were last summer. Retards.

Oh welllllll, hopefully they'll learn from their mistakes and just put this all behind them. Getting bored with a lack of hockey around

What do you think of Burke going to the Ducks?

MoRcHeEbA 06-14-2005 06:34 PM

it's good for the ducks, he's one of the best money GM's in the league. Turned Vancouver around big time.

MoRcHeEbA 06-14-2005 06:34 PM

and also how long did you hear the deal was for? (about the cba) I've heard 3 years and I've heard 6 years.

Y2Ant 06-14-2005 07:15 PM

Brian Burke

Now all the Ducks need to bring in are some good players :(

road doggy dogg 06-14-2005 10:50 PM

Yeah I heard 3 too. Hopefully it's longer though

It's gonna pretty crazy once everything gets sorted. A bunch of teams have lost a bunch of players and only have a handful under contract still. Like as of right now, the Bruins and Islanders only have 5 players apiece signed still. :| Pretty wild.

MoRcHeEbA 06-14-2005 11:41 PM

maple leafs have 7 players signed adding up to just over 27 million with the 24% rollback. LOL

Hockey has a long way to go to get me to give a shit.

I cant wait until it's finally done and announced. I want to see some movement. I wanna ponder my teams roster and chances etc.

I am itchy for Hockey.

Did anyone catch the logistics of the "Team Salary Cap"? My initial impression is it seems stupid to have a team cap if it will still fuck over the small market teams.

Can't wait for hockey to be back. I'm pissed off, but I still miss it. I hope any new rules they adopt increase the flow of the game. Being a Sens fan it will definitely help our chances of finally knocking out those dreaded Leafs.

lol I wonder if Hasek will play the 05/06 season :o

He mentioned to Ottawa media that he will play in 05/06 if a contract is reached. Can't wait to finally have a goalie I have confidence in going into a big game. He may be old and played pretty crappy with Detroit, but I still think he will have the goods when it matters most. Ottawa will be smart to give him lots of rest during the season and keep him healthy for the playoffs.

It sounds like it will all be done within a matter of days now. As somebody from Minnesota I can't be more happy.

Not only are Wild games cooler then Twins and Wolves games, but honestly this winter college basketball got a little old. I mean I love college ball, but with hockey gone it was on almost every night. I would have liked to see some hockey in there.
