If Chavo was the booker (and he will be once the cWo returns and takes over) this would happen...
Edge and Lita come down to the cage together; Lita offering her support to Edge throughout the match despite Matt taking the early advantage and beating the hell out of Edge. Lita becomes distraught at the beating her man is receiving and at various points tries to intervene. She runs to the door of the cage and tries to scramble inside when Hardy grabs a chair and holds it above edge ready to unleash a brutal chairshot, but referee Charles Robinson holds her back - pulling at her ankles and removing her from the cage.
Finally, Edge hits a surprise spear and has a few moments to climb the cage, but being very battered, his ascent up the cage is slow. Lita begins to climb the exterior of the cage and reaches up to Edge who is hung over the top (torso looking down over the apron and legs inside). Lita tries to grab Edge's hand to pull him down to safety and the victory, but as soon as she does, a rejuvenated Hardy yanks at Edge's dangling legs and pulls Edge down and Lita up the cage.
Lita is now perched on top of the cage whilst Hardy and Edge are trading blows standing on the top rope using the cage wall for balance. Edge tries to escape again and Hardy follows. All 3 are on top of the cage. Hardy fires another shot at Edge. Edge fires one back and Hardy retaliates again. Hardy takes a second advantage and looks certain for victory until a loose fist connects with Lita and knocks her from the top of the cage down onto the mat.
In scenes similar to the 1998 King of the Ring HIAC match, the crowd erupts in amazement and suddenly dies with cautious silence. JR sells this more than he sells his cokbook and subsequent BBQ sauce. Hardy and Edge stare wide-eyed down to the ring as concerned referees and road agents pile into the ring to aid to the fallen diva. Lita is strapped to the guerney and helped out. The match is a no contest and the story takes another twist as both men look shaken, momentarily united in their concern and worry.
There are a hundred and one ways for the story to progress from here, although a reconcilliation between Lita and a devastated and guilty Hardy would be my favourite
