jbl is a heel. he would suck ASS as a face! like when the wwe royally fucked up Big Papa Pumps heat in wwe by bringing him in as a face when naturally he is not.

His mannerisms and facial expressions riding that stallion to the ring were classic..... chavo classic :y:. But other than that and his promos, the man has no place on my television.

Turning him face would pretty much require an overhaul of his character. The only sufficient method of turning the character face in my opinion would be the comedic approach (a la 2000 Kurt Angle). No-one is going to cheer for a egotistical, greed-driven businessman unless he's making an ass of himself.

The only possible way I could see it, was if he had a situation similar to The Rock circa 1999. When you were supposed to boo him, but he was so over that he got cheered. I don't see JBL as that entertaining or anywhere remotely close that would make people cheer him. His character is the arrogant snob, it only works as a heel. We've seen it work once in the instance I mentioned, unless someone else can come up with another case....?

To get people to cheer him, I think wwe would need to completely redo the character and take him off tv for a good period of time. Something I doubt they'd do.

I'd have to disagree with you there. Angle and Christian, although they are 'snobs', are superior wrestlers and many fans recognise and appreciate their abilities. JBL is not.

Orton, although he is not as talented as the above two, was cheered mostly because his character was changed for his face run. He lost his arrogance et al and became this soggy personification of what the WWE thinks fans like.

Orton received cheers when he was bad at two specific occassions, one - when he was feuding with Foley, and once again the feud was warmly received and appreciate by the fans (albeit not a great technical affair); and two - when his face turn was so obviously imminent that we couldn't help ourselves. He wasn't neccesarily being cheered for being Orton the heel, but for being the Orton who teases a face run.

No. Casual wrestling fans like Christian because he's funny, and he has decent catch phrases.

Not just that. I mean Ken Kennedy is funny and has great catchphrases, as is Nova, but they aren't cheered to the extent that Christian is

Most casual fans still don't know that Simon Dean IS Nova.

You have to remember name value. Kennedy is new, they don't know who he is. Christian has been around for a long time, fans remember his various face runs, title wins, tlc matches, etc. It's not surprising he's cheered.

Honestly, despite the arguments i'm hearing that JBL could be a face, it would hard for me to cheer for him with his current look, charisma, ect.

Appreciate their ability? No offense, these are the fans who need to change their pants after watching Hogan and Austin wrestle... JBL may not be the best technical wrestler, but his style is very suitable for the WWE. He has a decent, high impact style, that can be viewed as legit. It's not about in ring style though. For the most part, it's really about the mic work and mannerisms. I love Christian, but right now, mic wise, he can't touch JBL

The key to turning JBL face would be finding someone the fans hate more, that's it. Foreigners work great for this. I don't see it happening anytime soon, as there's not really a heel on Smackdown who comes close to JBL's level of heelishness ( Don't get me wrong, Orton and Eddy are great heels, especially Eddy. People hate JBL naturally though.)

Since Hassan is gone, the only person I could see JBL having a strong face run against would be HHH, or MAYBE Kurt Angle.


Look at the past few months. How many people have been as consistently good as JBL has been on the mic... Back to the original "It's morning again" victory speech, he's basically been spot on, every time. Even when Kurt Angle had his " I want to have beastiality sex with Booker T's wife" promo, JBL was still golden. I'm not blaming Kurt by any means, but JBL is gold. HHH can't touch him on the mic either.

Yeah, the only way I can see JBL face (not counting turning him back into Bradshaw) would be a feud with Hassan...since even the biggest asshole could get pops talking shit on Muslims right now. No Hassan, no face run. At least, I can't imagine it being possible. WWE could prove me wrong, but until then, I'm set in my ways. It just ain't gonna happen.
