Bobby Lashley.........

.........is the future of Smackdown. I don't know who could not be impressed by a guy that gets that kind of a crowd response AND puts on a highly enjoyable match all in five min. He is defiantly something special. All aboard the Bobby Lashley bandwagon! And yes, feel free to mark out now.

Mr. Nerfect 09-24-2005 07:04 PM

Lashley impressed me. If he keeps up what he is doing, they actually let him wrestle, and keep using him, I think he could be huge money down the line.

He sort of reminded me of a cross between Brock Lesnar and Shelton Benjamin. They could probably get away with calling him "The One Man Wrecking Crew" Bobby Lashley.

Destor 09-24-2005 07:40 PM

Any one know where I can get some of his indy matches?

Jaton 09-24-2005 07:54 PM

I thought he was a fusion of Wayne Brady and Monty Brown.

Either way, I was on his bandwagon immediately when I saw him friday. He reminds me of a Brock Lesner with more talent. Plus, he's black so that means more cool points.

Same

Smackdown is on right now cause I'm on the east coast, yes, its a Saturday. I don't feel like watching it. I'll probably watch the second hour.

Destor 09-24-2005 08:25 PM

It was a great show (in comparison to the other shows in recent memory,) watch it.

ThruTheWire 09-24-2005 08:38 PM

Bobby Lashley had a pretty solid match. I was damn impressed.

Someone1001 09-24-2005 10:35 PM

I wasn't too impressed by his...er...wrestling skills...but darn, he won the crowd over fast. People had no idea who he was going in, and by the end of the match, he was getting some loud cheers. Maybe it's only because he was up against Simon Dean. Simon Dean can put someone over with the best of em.

Watson 09-24-2005 11:07 PM

I don't get it. Guys like Bobby Lashley, Ken Kennedy, etc are around for a very short time and already you're saying they're "the future" and you're "jumping on their bandwagon". These guys haven't had much time to prove themselves and already you're proclaiming them to be the "next big thing"? They could be just another flash in the pan like Matt Morgan, Mark Jindrak, etc. Both those guys proved that physique and size don't mean everything. On the subject of Kennedy, everyone keeps saying he's dynamite on the mic but IMO that's bullshit. Just because of that stupid catch phrase, he's not a "masterpiece" on the mic. Not too mention that DANGEROUS finishing move which is probably the main reason so many people are on his bandwagon. I just don't think the guy's all that great. Lashley is physically impressive but so what? Who in the WWE isn't?

Nervous Ferret 09-24-2005 11:09 PM

I do not like Bobby Lashley because he is black. I like Ken Kennedy because he is white.

Corkscrewed 09-25-2005 01:20 AM

Kennedy's finisher is about as dangerous as a Swanton Bomb. Even if he botches it, he's hurting himself, not the other guy.

You are right, it is to early to proclaim him the greatest thing since sliced bread. I was saying the same thing about Masters against the negative rep, and he has been around a great deal longer than Lashley in comparison. But I have been in the ring with many green guys, and just as many in a town on their first night. NONE of them got half the reaction he did.

Maybe it was Dean, and some of it was to be sure, but irregardless, this man is highly charismatic. I'm not marking out for his size, I'm marking out for his charisma, that is (imo) the single most important attribute in all of pro-wrestling, its what puts butts in the seats.

Athletically, he is clearly the real deal. Armature wrestling backgrounds always translate in technical ability (considering pro-wrestling is based on armature wrestling) thus I can put myself under the assumption, irregardless of how dangerous assumptions can be, that this man posses some if not a great deal of technical know-how. He looked aggressive and powerful, and he translated all of this in a five minute match.

The whole reason for the thread, in all my vanity, was to be able to say I told you so when others jump on the bandwagon down the road. And I will.

KingofOldSchool 09-25-2005 02:05 AM

I saw Bobby Lashley at a Raw House show a few months back. At first I thought he was Monty Brown, then when I heard him talk I thought he was Ahmed Johnson.

I kept yelling for Lashley to Pounce Val Venis.

Chavo Classic 09-25-2005 07:32 AM

Kudos to the WWE for bringing through some exceptional (potentially) talent recently. Burchill and Kennedy are already tearing it up and Lashley looks solid

Destor 09-25-2005 07:45 AM

Yeah, you cant say they are doing anything to improve the product, bringing in (possible) future stars is like bringing in (possible) future ratings.

Destor 09-25-2005 08:06 AM

Funny how Burchill, Kennedy, and Lashley are all on SD! hmmm.....

Chavo Classic 09-25-2005 08:40 AM

what are you trying to say? :shifty:

Destor 09-25-2005 09:02 AM

Well, look at most of RAWs top talent right now (H isn't back yet):
Cena, Angle, Carlito, Benjamin, Edge, (granted a few are being misused *cough Benjamin cough*) but since the brand extension, or their debut respectively, they have been SD! Is the WWE using SD! as their breeding ground for the future RAW stars? (I thought that was what OVW was for.) Think about how many guys have debuted on SD! and compare that to how many guys have debuted on RAW and I bet the numbers will favor SD!

It the above is true, could Mr. Kennedy......... Kennedy, Lashley, or Burchill actually be the future of the WWE (or RAW in their opinion)? Maybe I'm reading to much into the situation, RAW is defiantly their fav show (clearly) and SD! is secondary (clearly) but if thats the case why is all of the young fresh talent, with a few exceptions, going to SD!?

And as far as the hmmmmmmm earlier, I was thinking of a ECW style three way dance in my head. :shifty: or maybe I should

Destor 09-25-2005 09:22 AM

Maybe the :shifty: would have went better with the three way butt sex I was thinking of.

:shifty:

Chavo Classic 09-25-2005 09:27 AM

It's true. SD has been the unofficial breeding ground for Raw, which is the headliner of the two undoubtedly. Cena would be the prime example, along with Benjamin and others.

Cool King 09-25-2005 09:24 PM

I think he kinda looks like The Boogyman, so I think that because he injured himself, The Boogyman couldn’t debut on RAW.

So when he was healed they just used his real name and but him on SmackDown!:-\

Burchill is tearing it up? Since when?

You mean Velocity actually counts?

Yes. Yes it does.

It's true it is to early to truly gage Kennedy, Lashley, etc. but they have actually gotten REACTIONS in the short time they have been around. Chris Masters, Doug Basham, Danny Basham, Rob Conway, etc. as much as I love and respect they have gotten NOTHING compared to Lashley & Kennedy.

Kennedy hasn't even really been given a chance to cut a "promo" yet. He's just riding this gimmick which has sucked people in (me included). He's got the thrive to be recognised, and in the end that should go a long way for him. The guy knows how to express himself really well, and if they have him some meat to actually cut a promo with, he could do that exceptionally well, IMO.

The Lambeau Leap isn't that dangerous. The WWE would have prevented Kennedy from doing it if it was (they almost did, but they reconsidered). The move seems safe in the hands of Mr Kennedy, so I see no reason to cringe everytime Anderson goes up top.

Destor 09-27-2005 03:36 AM

Hell, Lashley has had one match and has already got a better fan reaction than Conway in all of his appearances combined (and thats almost true, sadly.)

Kennedy is getting over extremely quickly in a very big way and I hope his crowd reaction only increases. Kennedy is a hell of a young prospect. Not saying Lashley isn't btw.

Yes, well, I could walk into class, trip and fall, and get a better fan reaction than Conway in all of his appearances combined...

Destor 09-27-2005 05:26 AM

Never the less it supports my argument. If they are going to keep putting Conway on TV, with the fan reaction he garners, they are defiantly keep Lashley on TV. If Comway and/or Masters fan reactions merit being pushed as hard as they get who knows how hard they are going to push Lashley.

he had a good first match but waiting to see what will happen is better then jumping on the banwagon. not that we all haven't jumped on the bandwagon before :shifty:
