Is it me, or are 99% of the heels in the WWE the "cowardly heel" type?

Almost every heel on the roster seems to be a total chickenshit. It's boring, because almost every heel tactic seems to follow the same MO right about now.

Nark Order 11-08-2005 09:42 PM

I know, pisses me off. Why is Trips the only one that's allowed to be 'super badass dominant megaheel"?

Funky Fly 11-08-2005 09:46 PM

Even he goes chickenshit from time to time.

Kane Knight 11-08-2005 09:46 PM

I think that question was rehtorical.

Anyway, he's not alone, since Angle gets to be pretty badass most of the time. Just almost alone.

Shadow 11-08-2005 09:46 PM

....I never noticed it till now. Wow...

Makes me apperciate TNA even more.

Does TNA have heels? :?:

Shadow 11-08-2005 09:51 PM

It changes every week. But yeah, they got heels.

Destor 11-08-2005 09:53 PM

JBL(kind of,) Reagal, Burchill, and the Mexicools aren't total chicken shit heels. Lame example, but they're the best I can come up with.

Kane Knight 11-08-2005 09:54 PM

The MExicools are still heels? :?:

Coulda fooled me.

Kane Knight 11-08-2005 09:55 PM

And JBL was a great example of a chickenshit heel.

Destor 11-08-2005 09:57 PM

He doesn't run in every confrontation. I have seen him stand and fight/win matches cleanly on several occasions. But yeah, bad example.

Kane Knight 11-08-2005 10:00 PM

JBL's not always a coward, but most of his fights he ran or simply "survived" the fight by evading.

PullMyFinger 11-08-2005 10:05 PM

TNAs heels get terrible cheers...

abyssssssss oooooooooooooooo abyssssssssss

Kane Knight 11-08-2005 10:08 PM

Yeah, seriously, I thought "You suck" and "we want Matt" were unimaginative.

redoneja 11-08-2005 10:26 PM

What about Helms? Challenging a 350 lb man doesnt seem to cowardly.

Kane Knight 11-08-2005 10:37 PM

Challenging a fulltime jobber to a fight? Real ballsy. Hey, wasn't he trying to get out of there during parts of that match?

McLegend 11-08-2005 10:58 PM

At least he didn't grab the tights or the ropes to win.

That's always a good thing... Right?

V 11-08-2005 11:00 PM

yeah it's annoying

i never understood why they challenge for title matches and then run away until the actual match

they made lesnar so afraid of hardcore that he used big show as a body guard :nono:

No doubt, to the smark that it looks like a no brainier, Helms is gonna win. But to a channel surfer seeing this little guy topple the 350 pounder is quite a task.

*edit*

I don't remember seeing him run away, but he did go out to the floor to catch a breather. Wrestlings version of a time out. Not really cowardly, just not sportsman like.

Savio 11-08-2005 11:11 PM

The Cowboys called out the tag champs. IMO they are doing it less now.

Of course, having one match since his heel turn, I don't really find this to be that indicitive of anything yet anyway. Hell, even Hassan had a brave moment once in a while.

Destor 11-08-2005 11:28 PM

True.

So it looks like:

Regal/Burchill
The Mexicools (If you still wanna call them heels)
The Hurricane
and Cade/Murdoch aren't chickenshit heels. If I missed anyone, lemme know (Provided it's not people like JBL, who are).

They're still not exactly a large body of people, all are in relatively new gimmicks, and all of them are undercarders with little exposure. Unless some of them turn into regulars on Raw and continue to be booked as ballsy, I'm not ready to call this trend broken.

Speaking of chickenshit heels...

Is the 'grab ropes pin" just Carlito's new finishing move now? It seems that he wins every match with it.

Destor 11-08-2005 11:34 PM

Thats not likely. He's to small to be a bad ass heel. (to KK)

Savio 11-08-2005 11:36 PM

I haven't watched Smackdown in a while but what about RKO and Kennedy?

Orton is a TOTAL chickenshit heel, who needs his dad to be involved in almost every match. He talks shit, then gets the "limbertail" at a moment's notice.

Kennedy usually got the cheap win, and barely survived the match. I think against S2H was the only time I saw him with a clean, STRONG win, and that was against SCOTTY...A jobber from MAINE...I suppose Jobber was redundant in that case. He's pulled sucker punch, hit and run tactics (Though how he fared with Holly, I don't know...Didn't care about the PPV).

Orton- he only cheats when his when his back is into a corner, so I would say no he is not a chicken shit heel. Generally he starts shit with faces and backs it up.

Kennedy- I don't think I have seen him cheat to win (probably wrong though.) I know he hasn't ran from a fight. Holly beat him down and he slithered away but I don't think that counts as he ran after he lost instead of just running.

I would say both of these count, and should be added to the list.

*side note*

Notice that Helms aside none of these are on RAW? Also note it is too early to decide what kind of heel Helms is going to be. Could this have anything to do with H wanting to be the only 'Bad-ass hell' on his show? Not to cry conspiracy or anything.

*edit*
KK already owned my argument. :(

Taker Fan 11-09-2005 12:23 AM

I'd like it if Orton kept his Evolution heel tactics when he went solo (spitting in face, slaps, and confidence)

I wish he had. One of the things I hate on Smackdown is seeing Orton be a pussy. As a cocky heel, he kicked ass. As the guy who needs dad's help to win matches, and whose mind games fail, he's about as entertaining as sorting through used tampons.

And some of those tampons contain full blown AIDs.

Conisidently...all of them belong to Rhi.

I think a lot of people liked him when he was cocky, and winning matches cleanly. And I think thats the problem. He wasn't getting enough heat, it was kind of mixed (mostly due to his female fan-base.) Pairing him with daddy has made him more hate-able. Unfortunately I find myself wanting more from him as a heel, leaving me un-entertained, but the guy does get some of the best heat on SD!. Chicken-shit or not.

*question*
When writing SD! at the end of a sentence, do you follow it with a period?

Favre4Ever 11-09-2005 01:34 AM

Whats funny is that as soon as Cena goes heel, he'll be ducking out of the ring and running away from fights, and when Orton goes face, he'll always step up to the challenge, over come the odds, blah blah blah. Pick a new fucking system, WWE.

A) It's "coincidently".

2) Rhiannon jokes in the wrestling forum won't fly, sorry.

This is very true. I spoke with Jim Cornett once upon as time and he told me one of the things that annoyed him the most was how guys change the attitude when they do the 'turn'. Whether it be Heel OR Baby. People expect you to really be like this charector you're playing, just because they boo you or cheer you does not mean you should change your attitude, unless there is a stroyline that dictates said change. You can get people to boo or cheer (respectively) the same things they were giving the appropriate response to prior if done correctly. If heel you embellish the things they used to loved and make as if you are doing them to spite the audience. If you baby do the thing you were doing just play to the crowd before you do them. JC is the man to talk to for wrestling knowledge I tells ya. Great guy. The short conversation I had with nearly changed my entire outlook on psychology and how I play the crowd.

PullMyFinger 11-09-2005 02:26 AM

Yeah, I remember when SCSA turned heel. He suddenly turned into a coward?! I was like wtf.

They HAD to there. The crowd was still cheering him (not to mention they started to cheer H and Vince by association.) They had them beat the shit out of the Hardy Boys AND Lita and they popped. A radical change in his character was the only solution to make it work. That,to me, is the only instance that I respected the choice for a radical change in character (that was unprovoked,) it was the only way to get heat. Exceptions to every rule.

That is true. But when I got pissed, it wasn't at SCSA, but I thought it was absurd.
