What do you hate about being a smark?

I hate how people always say:

"You know wrestling fake, right?"
-------------
Your turn

LK 11-12-2005 08:26 PM

When people say:

"Christian sucks"

I feel your pain. :'(

Also, when I know that one guy is going to go over another even though I like the losing one better.

Yeah... It's even worse when there aren't any spoilers...

I also hate knowing when certain spots are coming. They can either be wrestler-specific or just general spots. Like when Shawn Michaels is going to flip up the turnbuckles and crotch himself.

Funky Fly 11-12-2005 10:29 PM

That's not totally due to being a smarrk, though. Part of it is WWE's formulaic approach.

Yeah, but I'm sure (or at least HOPE) that Smarks notice it more.

Funky Fly 11-12-2005 10:35 PM

From my experiences, marks notice it too.

I watch RAW with two marks, and they notice it also.

I miss believing that everything was happening at that very moment, not taped a few days ago, or even hours ago.

Well, it isn't that, but the ability to guess what is going to happen, and know what really should have happened, that is a little worse.

But the thing I hate about being a smark is that other smarks assume I have the same problems as them.

After only one month of TNA, my mark friends have figured it out. Either they're reading TPWW behind my back, or they're still "marks."

Gertner 11-14-2005 01:05 AM

i miss not knowing that I can look up the results to smackdown on the internet.

NoRoolz 11-14-2005 12:48 PM

Aside from what has already been mentioned. One thing I hate about being a smark is when marks say to you stupid things like 'Jericho Sucks. Cena is soooo good.' And you get so frustrated and go into a speech explaining how Jericho doesn't suck and how Cena does...or maybe it's just me that does this.

Sadistic 11-14-2005 12:51 PM

"Cena's probably the best wrestler in the WWE right now"

TerranRich 11-14-2005 01:45 PM

"Oh, wrestling is so fake. That's why I watch UFC! It's real!"

Morons. Apples and oranges, anybody?

Old school wrestling was full of predictable spots, wheter in the WWF, WCW, ECW, or any random indy fed. The matches also made sense, at least most of the time.

Is it me or do these things mostly sound more "What I hate about being a fan of wrestling?" Than "What I hate about being a smark."

Yeah, that's what I think about some of these responses.

Arrogance 05-13-2013 02:51 PM

Becoming really cynical about wrestling product. Pretty sure that comes with the smark package deal.

Best in show.

Wishbone 05-13-2013 05:01 PM

I hate that I'm always looking at things from an "inside" perspective now. I used to love actually believing that the guy WWE told me was the best was in fact the best. I also miss actually being surprised when something "big" happened because now I always get tempted and check out the dirt sheets which makes returns like Lesnar's less impactful.

Big Vic 05-13-2013 05:03 PM

The crowd kinda ruined it though with them chanting "We want Lesnar"

But it was true then, and it's true now. Cena>everyone else.

Nice neg from STD.

RiX1024 05-14-2013 02:49 PM

Being too critical of the product and not enjoy it like a mark.

RiX1024 05-14-2013 02:50 PM

Plus staying quiet at a live event instead of cheering, booing and chanting.
