Music video package choice?

"Hurt" seemed like a poor choice, and the Cash version even moreso. It seems like they're just trying to cross promote with "Walk the Line," or something like that. Anyone else get a little creeped out at this?

I thought it was approaite and actually didn't think about the Johnny Cash movie untill just now.

Also is the nine inch nails version as good or better then Johhny Cash's

It was a terrible choice IMO. Over winter break when I have some time I'm thinking about making an Eddie "My Sacrifice" video ala my Mick Foley one years ago, to see if I can do better.

I think they should have used a different song. And while watching Nip/Tuck tonight, there was a commercial promoting the new season of The Shield, and it had the same "Hurt" song. Using the same song to promote a tv show, and to honor a wrestler may not be the best of choices.

Kapoutman 11-16-2005 12:12 AM

I didn't mind, but I guess there could have been better songs.

NIN version sucks.

Also the way Johnny was signing it, it was if to say sorry for all the bad times to his wife. If they had to uses a Johnny Cash song, or at least one he covered, they could have used 'Danny Boy" (you know the old Irish tune) or "We'll Meet Again." Both on When the Man Comes Around.

But I would have used the old Monty Python standard, Always Look on the Bright Side of Life.

What about it is appropriate for the passing of an electric wrestler?

Yeah, but you don't complain.

Kane Knight 11-16-2005 01:08 AM

The NIN version is better, but then I rarely find a cover I like better than the original.

BlackDawn2024 11-16-2005 01:22 AM

I honestly find both to be annoying.

WWE.com has a new tribute video up using the 3 Doors Down song "Here Without You". The song choice is better, imo, this time.

Time of your Life by Green Day would have fit well I think.

When you say electric do you mean energetic wrestler?

I think it was better to use a sad song. If they were to do a another Eddie Guerrero tribute though and use another song like a more triumphant song I wouldn't mind.

I actually thought of "When I'm Gone."

When I say electric, I mean electric, as has been used in wrestling since the 80s at least.

A different song choice (Even a sad one) would have been better. Hurt very much works in emphasising the negative aspects of Eddie's life. It makes me think of his substance abuse, the demons people keep bringing up. A tribute to his life shouldn't be accompanied by something which is interpretted by most as something so horribly dark.

Regardless of what Trent meant, or Johnny, it still leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
