-- Quite apparently, the WWE will begin talks with the infamous Bill Goldberg next week about extending his wrestling contract. Word out is that Goldberg has been surprised thus far that he has only been paid his base salary, with bonuses excluded. WWE usually pads a main event level wrestler's (Bill Goldberg) salary with bonuses from strong house show gates, merchandise sales, etc. Goldberg initially started with a high salary, peaking an incredible $1.5 million, and has not been given many bonuses.

I've actually enjoyed him with the belt, for the most part. I wouldn't mind seeing him stick around but I also wouldn't miss him either.

The WWE is really in a tough situation here. They pretty much have to give Goldberg everything he asks for right now, because it would put them in a really bad situation on Raw if the guy that they built up like hell for a year as the world champion that squashes everybody just leaves.

If he were to drop the belt to someone and then put over Lesnar it wouldn't be a big deal to lose him.

Goldberg is a punk if he just leaves like that. 1.5 million is more than enough to roll around in underwear. And he think another promotion can pay him the say with him doing so little work?

Of course he's going to want more money,he's a Jew ain't he?

Just out of curiousity, what does the WWE pay their other top stars like Rock, Austin, Angle, HHH, ect. in comparison Goldberg.

I know its close to the million range for them, but does anybody else make $1.5 million?

Of course, it's not like the WWE is a stranger to wrestlers suddenly leaving, whethey by their own will or not.

Remember, they've had Hogan, Piper, and Jones leave. D'Lo was fired in the middle of a push. etc...

Given those options, I think I would go with Hogan-Austin and Goldberg-Lesnar. I think there's a better story to be told with the most popular guy from the 80s vs the most popular guy from the 90s. The trouble would be convincing one of the guys (Hogan) to do a JOB.

I agree, although you could have the figure head of WWF(E) and WCW during the most turbulent years in pro wrestling competing. Although from purely a WWF/E standpoint, Austin vs Hogan is better.

In case you didn't realize it, Goldberg is REALLY over with the fans right now, and some wrestling fans have begun to warm up to him ever since he got the Title. To drop him NOW would be stupid on the WWE's part. Yeah, he's not that great of a wrestler, bu the guy has pull and gets the crowd involved, something the WWE looks for alot. Plus, the guy IS powerful, no denying THAT!

If this match was being booked for Mania 18, then I would say do Goldberg-Austin, but WCW has been so burried by the WWE since 2001 that I dont think there is any value in bringing up anything to do with WCW.

Put it this way, Rock, Austin (when he wrestled anyway) and HHH all made double what Goldberg makes minimum. Angle makes about the same.
