Jack is Back- Discussion and spoilers about Season 5 of 24

Season 5 Starts this Sunday. I for one am so pumped.

Discuss this show and what you think will happen this season

Disturbed316 01-11-2006 08:39 AM

Recently got Season 4 on dvd so I really need to watch it soon before it comes out over here in the UK.

Almost finished watching Smallville season 4 so I will hopefully start it soon.

AareDub 01-11-2006 12:51 PM

I heard (spoilers in black)

Tony dies in the first episode

I didn't believe it at first, but the ads kinda make it seem that way.

McDoogle 01-11-2006 01:32 PM

They say something UNBELIEVABLE will happen in the first 10 minutes.

CharismaInjection 01-11-2006 04:48 PM

I heard a lot of people die in the first episode, but I don't believe that *person* is one of them Aaredub

AareDub 01-11-2006 07:16 PM

I hope not, but I guess we'll have to wait and see.

loopydate 01-13-2006 12:14 AM

Can't wait. As for what I think will happen, I imagine there will be some catastrophic event that ties into a mysterious incident in Jack's past, and he'll be the only one able to save the world, but only by going outside of his authority and getting on the bad side of the CTU boss du jour (Sean Astin).

I'm envisioning a scene where Jack pulls a gun on someone and yells. Not sure how that'll fit in, though.

:D

Seriously, though, I can't wait. "24" is one of the top five or so shows on TV. The writing, direction, and acting has been top-notch for four years, and this one looks to be excellent, as well.

RP 01-15-2006 09:45 PM

Palmer is dead

McDoogle 01-15-2006 10:06 PM

UNBELIEVEABLE

John la Rock 01-15-2006 10:15 PM

i want to get into this show but that means i'd have to rent seasons 1-4 and glue myself to a tv for about a month. probably won't happen

Splaya 01-15-2006 10:17 PM

Oh man, so glad I recorded this so I can watch it before tommorow night.

Tommorow night, the conclusion to the Season Premiere. Fuck off any other TV show that thinks they have the power to out rating 24

Loose Cannon 01-15-2006 10:31 PM

woah, just woah

Joey Slugs 01-15-2006 10:41 PM

good god. still 22 hours to go.

Crimson 01-15-2006 10:56 PM

I only watched the 1st 2 seasons. But im thinking of getting into this one. Why can't they make more movies like this?!

RoXer 01-15-2006 11:04 PM

So I watched all of season 1 and some of season 2 before I got bored. Decided to watch it tonight and it's not too bad. I wanna kill that dipshit kid though.

McLegend 01-15-2006 11:10 PM

Tonight was the first time I have ever watched 24. It was pretty intense. Gonna try and watch the whole season.

AareDub 01-15-2006 11:25 PM

Good stuff so far. They kinda spoiled things ahead of time by crediting Dennis Haysbert as "special guest appearance" and Reiko Aylesworth as "guest starring."

See but this is what makes 24 "24". You have dipshit people interfering with a God.

I mean I swear, Bauer is better than Bond. I mean they are similair in so many ways

They both have the License to kill mentality.
They both have initials JB.
Both first names begin with JA.

Think about that one for awhile

RP 01-16-2006 12:05 AM

I've only ever watched the first season. Havent seen the others, but i made it a point to watch tonight and i must say, I'm hooked again. I wont miss tommorow night and i'll do my best to catch every episode.

I dont know what happend in the last seasons, but any chance Elisha Cuthbert makes an appearence once she finds out he is actually alive? Or is she dead? I have no clue. I just know what i know from the first season.

When Palmer got shot i was like " Damn killing the black man off already " then remember i missed like 4 seasons.

Boondock Saint 01-16-2006 05:51 PM

Spoiler for later on in the season:

Kim returns later in the season

AareDub 01-16-2006 07:30 PM

I was very disappointed by the return of Wayne Palmer. I couldn't stand his character in Season 3. Hopefully he will fade out of the picture soon.

Boondock Saint 01-16-2006 10:02 PM

THERE'S NO TIME!

Splaya 01-17-2006 09:43 AM

So here's the thing.

The way Fox ran the ad's, the way they ran the promo's was in my opinion, awesome. 24 returned to it's form that has made it a signature for TV shows. I thought last season was a little off, don't get me wrong, it was good, but it wasn't great. Last night and Sunday night restored my faith in 24. You still have so many unanswered questions after last night.

Tony- Is he dead, is he still in surgery? I loved how there was no mention to him whatsoever about his health. It really leaves you wondering.

The Mole which is one of Logan's aide's- I knew going into the season that they would have another mole. I mean it was a given, they've done it for all 4 of the seasons so far, why stop now. But the way that it was done, and who it is, truly shocked me. I would have never have thought it was the President's aide. Never.

Audrey Raines- It's obvious that when Jack returns to CTU, she will not show the hatred for him the last time we saw these 2 together. She will be more calmer, but the way they are going to lead it up, it will make it seem like they want her and Jack back together. As long as I get to see more of her though, I'm happy.

CTU in general- The guy that was introduced yesterday (The guy from either DoD or Division) that realized Jack was using old protocol. What truly is this guy's role here. And with him going over Buchanan, what does that mean for Billie Boy.

Martha and President Logan- President Logan, although seemingly trying to get things done, is still going to cower down when it comes to him being the strongest at the worst time. When I saw they were going to play another role of a first lady, I was a little worried. But the way the story is going from her perspective is just awesome. I kinda figured that they had changed the voice recording, but still.

The Nerve Gas- Now I have not done a whole lot of research on it, but obviously it's very deadly. If anyone can add something about this, it would be appreciated.

Jack Bauer- The biggest thing is is that Fox signed on 24 for 2 more years. So this is the first year. But the biggest thing is "Can they really keep Jack alive for one more season". When they killed off Dennis Haysbert and Reiko :(, part of me actually smiled, cause I thought to myself, this could be the last year for 24. Whereas that might make me sad, I want it to end on a good note. And when I say good note, I mean ratings, because let's face it, when they terminate the production of 24, Jack Bauer will have to die as well. But about Jack, Keifer's calmness and his attitude when he's on one of his tirade's is what makes his character Jack. I really can't wait to see where they are going with everything now.

Comments from you guys?

McDoogle 01-17-2006 11:59 AM

Don't forget that everyone knows Jack is alive including Kim so maybe she'll play some part in this season? Maybe a hostage ala Season 1?

Boondock Saint 01-17-2006 05:11 PM

The producers are considering continuing the show without Jack. Also, they are working on a movie. Big article on it in Entertainment Weekly a couple of weeks ago.

I think that Derek kid has dibs on the hostage role for this season.

Is it bad when you are cheering for the terrorist to shoot someone? I wanted Derek dead. :o

AareDub 01-24-2006 12:20 AM

Ok, are they expecting us to believe that the presidential staff people are so thorough that they even take manual logs of the the recorded phone conversations, but they don't have a single freakin security camera to show what happened to the first lady? C'mon now! Also, if the prez and company are just visiting LA, why is there entire archive there?

This season is still interesting, but the President/First Lady storyline is really pissing me off. It's not quite as annoying as Sherry and Wayne in Season 3, but if it goes on like this it might get there.

Also, I don't have a problem with El Hobbit running things so far. It's kinda hard to take him seriously in the role, but the character isn't really a pain in the ass yet.

Boondock Saint 01-24-2006 12:49 AM

This is 24. You have to suspend disbelief...A LOT.

AareDub 01-25-2006 01:33 AM

I'm used to ignoring the impossible things dealing with timeframes, technology, etc, but if they've proved one thing over the years, its that somebody is always watching everything. The not having a camera in the first lady's room thing just bugs me. Especially since they made it a point to show how anal the administration was when it comes to those sorts of things.

I'll drop it though, 24 is still my favorite show :)

loopydate 01-25-2006 12:09 PM

Another thing about 24, is that something early in the season may not pay off right away.

Maybe in ten weeks, we'll find out that someone did have a camera in that room, and that he wasn't alone.

doot DOOT doot DOOT doot DOOT

DAMMIT, THERE'S NO TIME!

McLegend 01-31-2006 08:13 AM

24 was great last night. I like how Cummings a bad guy, but he thought he was the doing the right thing. Love that kinda stuff.

AareDub 01-31-2006 09:16 AM

Last night was the kind of episode that made it painfully obvious that they write the show 6 episodes at a time. It wasn't bad (like season 3) but it was noticeable.

Splaya 01-31-2006 10:20 AM

Yeah but still 24 was the goods last night. I didn't think Cummings would really tell the President what was going on. Anytime you have Jack running around threatning to poke people's eyes out with knives is fun. The big question is, who do you guys think is the person that will step out from under the bed in the Penthouse?

Boondock Saint 01-31-2006 08:03 PM

God I hate Walt Cummings so much.

Where the hell is Tony? Season 3 he got shot in the throat and was walking around CTU in a few hours. GET YOUR ASS IN GEAR MAN.

Boondock Saint 01-31-2006 09:32 PM

Thought last night was another strong episode. When I noticed in the credits that David Fury wrote it (used to write for Lost) I knew it was gonna be pretty kick ass.
