You won't believe me but there are only 2 real reasons I'm still watching WWE...

1 - The Spirit Squad

2 - Mama Benjamin.

Both are campy and corny as anything WWE has ever produced but they are seriously awesome and funny. Mama Benjamin is a comic genius. I can't remember who bumped into her in the back a few weeks ago (Goldust maybe) but the way she just ab-libbed and tore Shelton a new one with some seriously old school black jazz talk had me rolling over and Shelton had to turn away so he couldn't be caught laughing.

Great matches still rule. Edge is still awesome and Benoit couldn't be anything else if he tried but that's about it. TNA and MMA all the way now. I might even skip Mania since Jannetty is gone again.

The One 03-14-2006 04:13 PM

MMA is the future.

McLegend 03-14-2006 04:55 PM

Yeah I along with a lot of people think MMA is going to overtake wreslting in popularity. I don't think it will be on top for as long as wrestling was, but still it will be on top for a good period of time.

Also I love the Spirit Squad.

Innovator 03-14-2006 05:07 PM

By the end of 2006, MMA gate in the US will overtake boxing. MMA was approved by Cali, and it's only a matter of time before NY follows suit.

NeanderCarl 03-14-2006 10:39 PM

I'm a bit confused by the end of your post, Rob...

you were buying WrestleMania... only for Marty Jannetty??

My God, Jannetty's a draw!

Somewhere out there, Vince McMahon just died a little.

And I think I just climaxed at the thought.

Not watching Mania for Jannety! Now this guy is a real loyal fan.
God Bless...

Vermaat 03-15-2006 04:57 PM

There are more reason then that to watch the WWE.

1. The build up to wrestlemania including the exciting Cena - HHH feud.

2. The MITB match at Wrestlemania

3. the shawn michaels/Vince mcMahon storyline.

4. Mark Henry's new heel character.

5. The cruiserweights.

6. Trish/Mickie storyline :naughty: :naughty: :naughty:

7. Newcomers like Lashley and Finlay.

... there are many more reason. WWE has reached a high point imo that they have not had in a while and I think to miss it now before wrestlemania is a mistake.

1. There has been very little good build for this... Cena's been buried so far

2. This match could be very good... It would be better with Carlito instead of Flair though

3. Vince McMahon should leave it to his wrestlers and take his old ass out of the ring

4. Mark Henry is the 2nd worst wrestler of all time just ahead of Giant Gonzalez

5. The Cruisers would be a lot better if they didn't water them down and actually used them in matches other than 6 person clusterfuck matches

6. Trish/Mickie is the only good build they have for ANY match at Mania, and they better not blow it

7. Lashley and Finlay are also pretty gold to watch right now :y:

So overall this Mania is looking like one of the worst we've seen in awhile, I'd say the worst since 16 (or WM2000 if you prefer)

Vermaat: ARE YOU CRAZY!? This has been one of the best build ups to a main event ever! Man, you are such an idiot.

1. The build up is good, I don't see how cena has been buried. Maybe verbally, but Cena didn't back down to HHH and I think he still has momentum going into this. Of course they could do a better build up like they did with JBL/Cena when Cena had people throw garbage into JBL's hat. That is the kind of thing they need to get in for this build up. I agree, it can be stronger.

3. It should be Shane at mania I agree, but hey, both guys are old so I think it could be a fun little match. Some matches can be just for fun.

4. Mark Henry is pretty good at his role. I don't see how you can call him the worst wrestler since Giant Gonzales, did u see that reversal he did when Mysterio pinned him but he got him up, got up and did his finisher on mysterio out of the pin. That was good. He plays an AWESOME heel, I think too good because you are starting to hate him for real and confuse his character and his person in reality.

5. The 6 way matches are a good way to show off the cruiserweights because it allows them all to chain their moves together.

Cruiserweights are like pieces of dynamite, they make a big bang but only for a short time. They won't work in long matches.

alvarado52 03-15-2006 05:29 PM

i was kinda with you the whole way till you said Edge is awesome

FourFifty 03-15-2006 05:45 PM

SPIRIT SQUAD RULES!!!!!

I totally mark out for these guys... So much I may be forced to change my Goldust motif on this board.

He is for me. Wrestlemania is looking really shitty. There is nothing on that show that is appealing to me. I would have bought it to see Rey Misterio win the world title (which is happening - look at my Rumble predictions if you want to doubt me) but they have buried him to the point where I don't care now. That is seriously a shame because I've watched him since he was 20 years old in AAA.

Jannetty coming back is at least something new and it appeals to me big time as I am a self confessed biggest Rockers mark of all time.

Still confused?

McDoogle 03-15-2006 06:15 PM

Why are they giving the title to Rey Rob?

McLegend 03-15-2006 08:05 PM

Even though I'm the biggest HBK mark ever I really want to see Jannety throw HBK through a window.

Then I would like to see them have a match. I really wouldn't care about who would win.

Kane Knight 03-15-2006 08:15 PM

Also, I'm tempted to buy Mania in hopes HHH wins. He's exciting, Cena's not.

But most of the build up is so shitty...

Innovator 03-15-2006 08:16 PM

It'd only be fitting if Heenan came back to commentate for one night

"WHAT A COWARD! HE JUST JUMPED THROUGH THAT WINDOW!"

Innovator 03-15-2006 08:17 PM

Here has been the build up for HHH/Cena in a quick recap

HHH: You're only move is pumping up your shoes. That belt is coming back home.

Cena: Yeah you're right I do suck.

McLegend 03-15-2006 08:19 PM

Cena: You're right I'm not the best athlete

That's the best line ever

Innovator 03-15-2006 08:20 PM

HHH should bury him just for saying that.

Actually, I thought the shit this week was good.

First time I've cared about the WWE championship since...

Fuck, it's been more than 3 months, I can't remember. :shifty:

Innovator 03-15-2006 08:26 PM

Last time I cared was when Edge won the title, I had the sheer hope that they'd build Cena up more/tweak his character before giving it back to him.

Sadly...no

Y3J 03-15-2006 08:31 PM

Cena Sucks

I didn't care then. Actually, my lack of interest in the product was at an all-time high, because Edge blows and I knew they wouldn't actually improve Cena.

Aside from Vince I think you are the only person in the world that thinks that

Kane Knight 03-15-2006 08:46 PM

Yeah, Mark Henry has like no personality, and wow. a 400 lb guy getting up out of a pin on a 120 lb guy and hitting his finisher from that?

Mr. Nerfect 03-16-2006 05:11 AM

The only reason I won't fast-forward Triple H/John Cena is if both guys get the shit booed out of them. Pretty bad storyline so far. Cena CAN wrestle, they don't let him.

And Vermaat, the cruisers can work in long matches. Paul London vs. Brian Kendrick vs. Jamie Noble in a 3-Way Dance, resulting in a 60-Minute Draw would be an MOTMillenium Candidate anyday. The WWE just don't let the cruisers tell stories, because if they are allowed to tell stories, they upstage the upper-card guys having stellar programs like Triple H & Cena.

I actually buy PPVs for the cruisers, not for the main events.

The Spirit Squad are awesome. They need to get some nice wins under their caps and pull off some nice one-on-one performances. I know some people would be against this, but I would move The Spirit Squad to SmackDown! post-WrestleMania and let them work with the cruisers.

And he just is.

So, any word on who he'll drop it to and/or when he'll drop it?

I was only kidding. I was happy to see Jannetty back. Even though he is at least 10 years removed from his prime, he showed he could still go when he had those two matches last year before WrestleMania 21.

It was more a dig at Vince McMahon, who keeps firing the guy over and over.

Vermaat, you're gonna have to specifically explain which parts of the Cena/HHH feud you think is good, because this isn't good buildup, it's average buildup, and it shows. Cena wants to fight with HHH. HHH doesn't want to. Cena triumphs at the end of every show. Yeah... pretty mundane. Plus the fact that he gets noticeably booed (lets not go into the why he gets booed argument again) doesn't really help.

GOOD buildup was HHH vs Batista, or HHH vs Benoit (where Benoit had the buildup of gunning toward his first WWE heavyweight title going for him), or Cena's entire main event push before he got the belt and was then toned down.

Cena vs HHH now? It might be okay for a standard PPV, but not for Wrestlemania, where you gotta bring it up to a higher standard.

Mr. Nerfect 03-21-2006 03:13 PM

I hope the WWE puts John Cena vs. Triple H on first at WrestleMania. Start with a WWE Title Match, close with a World Heavyweight Title Match. The fans will be unpredictable, but I have a feeling they will be into it (even if it's tearing the match apart).
