Spirit Squad Appreciation Thread

The best thing to happen to Raw in a LONG time especially Mikey who is the funniest thing I've seen in wrestling in ages. Ltes give props to the King of Spirit.

KENNYYYYYY!!!!!!!

JOHNYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!

MITCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

NICKY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

MIKEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Kane Knight 04-04-2006 11:37 AM

I appreciate them giving me something to fast-forward.

loopydate 04-04-2006 11:53 AM

I've been saying for weeks that SS is one of the most entertaining things on RAW. Not only are they skilled, but they play that gimmick to within an inch of its life. I still say Kenny and Johnny, once the SS inevitably splits, will be the next generation's Randy Orton and John Cena (hopefully booked better).

I wonder what it is that Mikey is smoking before he goes out there every week. No one has that kind of energy. Ah, well. Never fails to entertain.

Gone Mad 04-04-2006 12:02 PM

MIIIIIIIKKKKEEEYY!!! RAAAHH!!! That man was hilarious this week.

As for the Squad, it took me awhile to warm up to them but for the past 2 weeks, they are one of few reasons to watch Raw. I mean, for the wacky dancing is reason alone because you gotta love anyone who can wrestle pretty good and taunts with the friggin' Vogue dance or that little Moonwalk thingy.

Maybe if Cena did that, he'd get over. Just a random Electric Slide will get the fans back.

They are definitely entertaining. Hopefully, they'll run well with the Tag Titles.

Anybody Thrilla 04-04-2006 01:27 PM

The trampoline spots are worth the price of admission alone.

Chigg 04-04-2006 01:45 PM

Whichever one of them did the ass-slide UP the entrance ramp after they won the belts deserves some credit. Kid's got spirit.

What Would Kevin Do? 04-04-2006 02:22 PM

Spirt Squad rocks. ALso, I have a feeling they'll all be defending the belts. If you look at the superstars page on WWE, it doesn't say Kenny and Mikey are the champs, it just says "The Spirit Squad" with their logo.

Also, I'm loving Kenny's legdrops.

Destor 04-04-2006 02:29 PM

The Spirit Squaud is fantastic and Kane Knight has poor taste. Thank you for your time.

That would leave Mitch, Nicky, and Mikey.

My magic 8 ball keeps telling me that they'll feud with MNM for some reason. :shifty:

Nah man, Spirit Squad will split into a "Wolf Pac" faction soon. :shifty:

Blitz 04-04-2006 05:08 PM

I approve of the Spirit Squad.

St. Jimmy 04-04-2006 05:27 PM

Their promo material is wee annoying,
but in the ring they're gold.

Their promos are awesome. Just because they aren't your typical wrestling promo, that doesn't make them bad.

And I have to make note again that I was the first person here to officially jump on the Spirit Squad bandwagon.

Mr. Nerfect 04-04-2006 08:12 PM

I'm still not a fan of the gimmick, but the trampoline spots are nice.

Kenny & Mikey would have been my picks for World Tag Team Champions, too. Maybe Johnny & Mikey. Mike Mondo has been front and center of The Spirit Squad and has been entertaining the crap out of me. He deserves a title to keep him afloat. Nicky will be able to get over on his amateur wrestling background, and Mitch is still in training (and coming along nicely from what I've seen). Johnny and Kenny will be the break-out stars, so it makes no sense to give them both titles.

Drafting The Spirit Squad to SmackDown! is still the best way to go, in my opinion. MNM vs. The Spirit Squad vs. Paul London & Brian Kendrick vs. The Mexicools in a TLC Match at Judgment Day to decide the first-ever WWE World Tag Team Champions?

I dunno, Rob. I was there pretty early. You didn't beat me by much.

jindrak 04-04-2006 10:08 PM

I LOVE the Spirit Squad!

Triple A 04-04-2006 10:09 PM

I saw them for the first time when I watched Raw last night and they were hilarious. Best part of the show for me. Great gimmick.

samichna 04-04-2006 10:13 PM

Pritty funny.

Skippord 04-04-2006 10:23 PM

Kenny is the shit *note Kane Knight will KKK me on this removing the the *

Mr. Nerfect 04-04-2006 10:59 PM

Quick question: Do you think the WWE should give the guys their last names? Kenny Doane, Johnny Jeter, Mikey Mondo, Nicky Nemeth & "Mitch". Nick Mitchell will probably be "too hard" for the fans to distinguish from Nick Nemeth. I'm pretty sure since school started people have known two people with the same first name. The WWE can be silly billies sometimes.

loopydate 04-04-2006 11:22 PM

They probably wouldn't call Kenny "Doane" because they already have a referee named Doan, and we would be confused, thinking that a referee had become a cheerleader.

Gertner 04-04-2006 11:26 PM

Mikey's facial expressions are gold. I loved this gimmick from the start and i'm glad there's others on board

LOL, true. Ken Doane begging Jack Doan to show bias towards The Spirit Squad because they have similiar last names could be comedy gold.

NeanderCarl 04-05-2006 01:34 AM

They are mildly amusing, but the gimmick has a novelty shelf-life of six months- a year at the most- and after that, they'll be lucky to have one or two breakout stars.

No matter how good these guys may be in the ring on their lonesome, they are too small to be taken seriously by Vince McMahon and crew when the time comes to go their seperate ways.

And they will suffer from this total over-push they are receiving right now.

That's my opinion anyway....

Pinnacle Charisma 04-05-2006 02:48 AM

Been a fan of theirs since they started the gimmick in OVW. Just making note.

LK 04-06-2006 05:08 AM

I shall admit that the Spirit Squad have won me over. When they first debuted, I was one of the first people to go "What the Fuck?" - check the thread the night they appeared. However they are excellent. Kenny has a big part in the future to play since out of all of them he is the complete package. Move over Rob and LPD, I'm taking my spot on the bandwagon.

PS I total marked out for them winning the titles on Raw.

Could you just shut up.I know i used to complain a lot but damn, you take this to a whole new level. Its an appreciation thread, can you not read thread titles?Lets not forget that you're the guy that suggested WWE were turning masters face and not carlito.

Anyway, at first i didn't like these guys, but as some have said, in the last few weeks they've been entertaining and actually deserve the tag titles. The tag titles have actually seemed more meaningful lately.

What Would Kevin Do? 04-06-2006 10:13 AM

WWE needs to make them unstoppable :) ( Not because their that good, but because they play the numbers game so well no one can beat them.)

So did I. Seriously aside from Jannetty coming back, this is the only thing on WWE that has really made me want to watch more wrestling. Oh and Mama Benjamin of course.

St. Jimmy 04-06-2006 05:24 PM

plus when it's tired, they'll just shorten the name to "The SS"
and then let trips wear his Nazi Regalia and shorten up his Moustache.
bam. new stable.

Rob 04-06-2006 06:00 PM

The Harris Twins already have that gimmick.

Innovator 04-06-2006 06:06 PM

Cornette called Ken Doane the "next Randy Orton", he called Jeter a "21 century Ricky Morton", and called Mike Mondo the best character player he's seen in a long time.

These guys have talent, but were put in a gimmick that could be career suicide. I like these 3 and hopefully they can get out and grow beyond this.

No I won't shut up. It's a discussion board. Alternative opinions are allowed. I'm hardly going to start a Spirit Squad Anti-Appreciation thread, am I?

And, to clarify, what I actually said was that:
a) I believe Masters will make a great face one day in the future (not neccessarily NOW) and
b) the way the turn was laid out on Monday was certainly a traditional heel turn by Carlito (brutal attack, nailed him from behind etc.) I pointed out that if WWE wanted Carlito to be the face, they got off to the wrong start.

Get it right next time before you lay into me.

No, because he turned on a heel. That "attack from behind turns you heel" works if you're a face. If you're a heel and you attack another heel, you're a face. See: Razor Ramon attacking Ted DiBiase in 1993.

NeanderCarl 04-06-2006 11:06 PM

If you're a heel and you attack another heel: see Money Inc attacking Jimmy Hart in 1993. See Honky Tonk Man attacking Jake Roberts. See Nash and Hall attacking Hogan in 2002 (Hogan was still technically a heel). See Vader attacking Yokozuna.

As a rule the attacker remains the heel, and turns the victim face, for beating somebody up from behind.

Hey, I realise Carlito is (probably) supposed to be the face here. But starting his face run with a cowardly attack from behind isn't the best way to kick-start it, IMO

Gertner 04-06-2006 11:36 PM

lol even watching their titantron video on wwe.com makes me laugh my ass off
