I thought he was rosey at first :$

McLegend 04-04-2006 05:09 PM

It's Jamal

samichna 04-04-2006 05:11 PM

Didn't Jamal get fired a while ago for something? And they bring him back for THIS? :wtf:

Corkscrewed 04-04-2006 08:41 PM

Most casual fans will think it's Rosey repackaged if they make the connection.

Mr. Nerfect 04-04-2006 10:39 PM

I have a feeling this is not going to last. Umaga? What the Hell?

They were gonna bring back 3MW. So they re-hired him. Eric's not coming back (At least, not in the timeframe they had in mind), so they dropped it, and I guess they decided to "make the best of it."

Dorkchop 04-04-2006 10:49 PM

I really like Jamal, but this isn't a good gimmick for him. It could work it he gets all voodoo-ey and teams with the Boogeyman. Boogeyman can't wrestle, but is a great character. Jamal can wrestle, but the character won't last. He'd more than make up for Boogeyman's lack of actual wrestling ability.

Plus, they just released Rosey, so they had to come up with something for him.

So, naturally, the first place Vince's mind goes is "Let's slap war paint on him and give him an African-sounding name."

Mr. Nerfect 04-04-2006 10:51 PM

It would have been so much better if Estrada called out Test, Chuck Palumbo, Sean O'Haire, CM Punk, Brent Albright, Aaron Stevens or anyone else in the WWE's developmental system that can wrestle. I'm not saying Jamal is bad, he's quite good, especially for a man his size, but with the current WWE style, and with his current gimmick, the man is going to go nowhere fast.

Mr. Nerfect 04-04-2006 10:56 PM

The character screams "SmackDown!" as well. On RAW, Jamal is relatively small compared to a lot of the superstars. You can't push him as a beast on RAW. It just won't work.

On SmackDown!, Jamal would have had people like Paul London & Brian Kendrick working with him, bumping like Hell for him. If London & Kendrick were actually allowed to get offense on the big guy, you could set him up as a big man on the rise. Estrada could get into a feud with Funaki over who SmackDown!'s #1 Announcer is, and boom, Jamal wrestles Funaki. The next week, he beats Paul London. The next, Brian Kendrick. The next Super Crazy. Then Psicosis. He ends Tatanka's winning streak, finally defeats The Boogeyman and then he challenges Bobby Lashley. That's eight weeks that practically write themself.

Pretty much. I'm thinking Rosey was only being kept on for 3MW.

John la Rock 04-04-2006 11:05 PM

big disapointment

94 SVT Cobra 04-05-2006 12:41 AM

Personally, it hasnty been done in such a long time, it might just work.....for a while

NeanderCarl 04-05-2006 01:26 AM

I expect the plans to reform 3MW were probably dropped pretty sharpish after their dark match a couple of months back. If they really saw potential in the team, then they would have reformed, Bischoff or no Bischoff.

That Estrada guy seems interesting, though.

WWE's Tag Division is already booked solid with teams of athletic big men, so clearly there was no use for 3MW. :shifty:

domononizuka 04-06-2006 09:31 PM

Honestly i was more excited about seeing Osama Rodriquez finally getting called up.If you havent seen any of his stuff check out youtube,i think a few of his promos are on there.

parkmania 04-07-2006 02:47 PM

I just really hope this gimmick QUICKLY goes the way of GTV and "I still remember".

FourFifty 04-07-2006 03:21 PM

*ahem*
GOD DAMN IT!!!! I was wishing they would bring back 3MW!!!!!

Evolution 04-07-2006 04:02 PM

I've had enough. Can someone PLEASE tell me WTF all this "I Still Remember" crap is all about? I've seen it mentioned in loads of threads and I haven't got a clue as to what it refers.

Also, did you hear that really loud guy in the crowd when Estrada came out?

Estrada: My name...
Guy in crowd: ...is Razor Ramon
Estrada: ...is Rodriguo (or whatever his full name was)

There was a backstage segment a few years back with Booker T, shortly after his team with Goldust dissolved. I don't remember all the details, but it showed him in his locker room, and he had a note.

All it said was "I Still Remember."

And that was the last we ever saw of it.

Speculation was that it was going to be Goldust, returning after his "electrocution" thing with Evolution, but he was released shortly thereafter. It's a running joke, because WWE always books like the fans won't remember anything if they just stop talking about it.

But we still remember.

I think it was a note left to someone.. i forget who..

but that razor ramon thing was fucking hilarious

If they rolled out Test or Palumbo to feud with Flair, I'd turn off immediately.

Evolution 04-07-2006 04:31 PM

Loopy, thank you. As soon as I read it, it all came flooding back to me. That whole electrocution thing really was :wtf:

darkpower 04-10-2006 03:20 AM

I'm sorry, but as far as the manager is concerned:

Couldn't WWE.com find a better bio-minipic of him than this:

Funniest shit EVER!!

Doesn't his complexion remind you a lot of Dan Akroyd in Trading Places? (As in, a white guy who put shoe polish on his face to look like another race.)
