When performing a cradle piledriver what benefit does the attacker have when he wraps his arms around the victim's leg before piledriving the victim?

Speaking practically, it's probably easier to keep a grip on the guy you're piledriving. In a kayfabe sense, I suppose it exerts extra downward force. That's what it looks like, anyway.

I'd say it's the force. You can push them down after they drop, causing more damage.

He's grabbing the guy's package for extra insult.

It would be to add force to the move as people have said, by interlocking your hands and pushing down even harder than just jumping to the seated position.
