Samoa Who?

Sorry to go against IWC commandment #3 here guys, but aside from that retarded thumb finisher I been enjoying Umaga a lot more than Samoa Joe lately. It isn't Armando either, I dunno I guess it's cause his gimmick is just over the top. He had a good match with Cena too that the commentators did a good job of putting over (for some reason I liked that line King said about Umaga "never having that look of pain on his face"). I didn't see his match with HBK, but it was HBK in there, I'm pretty sure it was good for a Raw main event. Umaga for WWE Champion!

BigDaddyCool 08-03-2006 11:23 AM

Interesting...I think it is odd how Umaga is billed 100 lbs. heavy than Joe but they appear to be the exact same size, granted I've never seen the 2 side by side.

McLegend 08-03-2006 11:43 AM

Umaga is pretty good in the ring, but he is no Joe.

Well thats the difference between WWE and other promotions. Christian looks pretty tall in TNA but when he was in WWE, he just looked normal. So Umaga would look quite a bit taller, plus theres always the fact that WWE exaggerates the weights as well.

Joe, despite a "fat" appearance, looks in better shape, though, and fat and muscle weight different amounts. While it's possible it's just WWE's normal hyperbole, it's also possible Joe really does weight significantly less.

TNA Joe isn't, either.

I like what I've seen of his RoH/Indy stuff, but appreciation for what he can do doesn't excuse how little he has done.

That being said, I'm enjoying neither of them, but I'd lean to Joe, simply because he doesn't have a retarded handler. People don't love Estrada, they love the catchphrase.

McLegend 08-03-2006 12:18 PM

I have never seen Joe in ROH. Joe in TNA is still better then Umaga.

Stickman 08-03-2006 12:26 PM

I can't believe the Umaga gimmack is still going on. He'll never be a main eventer, he'll never win gold of any sort other than possibly a tag team. He's basically Kamala of 2006. Not a legitimate threat but pushed like one.

As for Joe. I only occassionally watch TNA and he's nothing to cream my pants over.

Innovator 08-03-2006 12:26 PM

Lets see Umaga bust out a top rope tope

Also TNA lists Joe at 280, ROH lists him at 270, he looks about 260.

JH 08-03-2006 01:02 PM

i'm into the umaga character cause he is doing decent in ring but i still have to do this
Samoa Joe > Umaga anyday of the week

Joe in TNA is shit.

BigDaddyCool 08-03-2006 01:21 PM

It would have been sweet if Nash beat Joe for the X title, but that is just because I'm an asshole.

FourFifty 08-03-2006 03:37 PM

Am I the only one who likes Umaga more than Joe?
Maybe it's because I saw this Somoan Submissiom Machine once, and he only used one submission hold, but he strikes me as.... lame. I also don't like his name. Somoa Joe... Whassupwitdat?

Xero 08-03-2006 03:47 PM

No I actually agree with you. I've only seen Joe in TNA and I also think he's dull. I completely agree with the name as well. It'd be like naming Kurt Angle 'American Kurt'

It probably wouldn't have worked so well with American Hussan either.

I don't think they could make him more Indian if they put him on welfare and had him come to the ring drunker than Scot Hall...

He needs to open a casino

Vermaat 08-05-2006 04:37 PM

Samoa joe is very overrated, Umaga has a better character than him. WWE did a good job signing Umaga and with his use.

Now what WWE needs to do is fire Khali and get a proper monster for Smackdown.

Wasn't Umaga in 3 Minute Warning in 2002-03? I think I remember them doing some pretty sick moonsaults and big splashes that were impressive for their size. I don't doubt Umaga's ability to pull off a top rope tope. I just don't think it goes with the gimmick.

I'm gonna admit I only read the first sentence, but I feel the need to once again remind everyone that Joe is over rated.

Thank you for your time.
