ECW on Sci-Fi this past Tuesday (Spoliers) Their best show yet

It was easily the best episode yet. Everything came together so well. I'll take it from the top.

-The Build up Promos
  1. Balls promo was OK, decent attempt to get the fans to identify with him. Although Kelly Kelly proved that speaking didn't get her that job.
  2. Rene Dupree being in ECW confuses me. I cant really speak any more on the subject as I fear my head will explode.
  3. Shannon Moore again... When are they going to do something with is or get him off the TV?
  4. The Sabu promo was ridiculous as always

-Punk

CM Punk is developing quite a following and very quickly.Stevie Richards put on a nice performance, you could see him throw a few stiff shots during the match but Punk just took and gave his own. The match was very solid, every week Punks performance is only improving. Punk showed off some new moves for the ECW/WWE audience with a plancha (showing he can do a fair share of flying) and a Eddy style reverse flapjack with a dropkick combo. The Anaconda Vice is such a sweet finish, it ain't no Pepsi Plunge but dammit, its sweet.

-The "In-Ring" debut Matt Striker

I loved this segment. Striker is really gold with the Mic. This is a good feud for the Sandman now that the Heyman/ECW originals program has ended. "Ossified from drinking his giggle water." ROFL

-Van Damn/Holly

They are doing a very good job with this. having RVD start from the bottom is a good way to give Van Damn something to do while they do the Sabu/Big Show program. They put on an entertaining match, and I like these DQ endings from the ECW originals. They cant be contained. Holly might actually be a good fit for ECW after all, even if he does make it feels slightly more like Velocity. Those chair shots were sick.

-The Big Show

Good little promo there. Set up what it needed to. I couldn't help but wander when that was tapped and even if the audience had seen RAW.

-The main event

I had my doubts but this was an excellent match. One of the few matches since the return I thought had that ECW feel. It was total mayhem and I loved it. This sets up quite a bit. First we get the return of Sabu/Van Dam as a tag team clearly. AWESOME. They'll wrestle the Bashams as a road block to getting Heyman and then they can have a Three on two tag with Holly/Show/and Heyman. From there I dunno.

Things are shaping up very well for this "New" ECW. By they're first PPV they are gonna have a hot show on their hands.

And don't forget I, and ECW, are Better Than You.

Yeah, I've been saying the same thing about their first PPV. Their booking is borderline flawless; I really couldn't be happier with ECW. Hardcore Holly being in ECW is kinda weird but I think it will work, and well. As for Dupree, I don't get it either. But it's definitely the best wrestling show on TV.

Volare 08-31-2006 08:16 PM

IMO bringing in Dupree shows another side of him and could give him a clean slate to work with in ECW. Hardcore Holly I think will be alright. I'm hoping now that a lot more talent is in ECW the TV title will be brought back.

Destor 08-31-2006 08:22 PM

A second title with only one hour of TV is a really bad idea. Its not time yet, wait until their first PPV. Perfect time, although I would hold off until even later.

Kane Knight 08-31-2006 08:25 PM

Moore will get fired soon enough, don't you worry. :D

Xero 08-31-2006 08:27 PM

I wouldn't bring the TV titles in until they have at least two months of 2 hour TV. Before that, though, I would definitely bring in a Tag Title. That way you can at least have two titles that aren't the same, while still having a midcard title and establishing a tag division.

Volare 08-31-2006 08:27 PM

WHEN they do go a second hour yes, your right. The question is, would they treat it like a midcard belt, or make it look like it was when RVD had it back in the day, and make it look great.

Juan 08-31-2006 08:28 PM

How about Jeff Hardy wins the IC title and then jumps ship to ECW?

Volare 08-31-2006 08:29 PM

:?: where the fuck....nevermind, I think we found another nominee.....

In WWE's eyes it'll no doubt be a mid card title unless they treat it like, say, the FTW title, where they plan not to have it change hands (Put it on Van Dam), and in the future, if they like the way it's going, start having it bounce around.

I don't know that they have the roster to support a tag division, though.

Destor 08-31-2006 08:41 PM

Or a midcard title. All fueds would have to be either around the TV title or the World title. And that would suck.

All three of these segments were beyond terrible. Dupree was so-so, but I agree with you, he has no buisiness in eCW, thus making this segment pointless.

Punk thinks he can pull out a couple of moves he saw in Japan and win over the crowd. LAME. Punk is a hack, his in ring work is so damn vannilla I've become bored talking about it.

I actually like this. Too bad Matt Striker has to be associated with this C-rate show.

Sparky Plugs. You think Sparky Plugs belongs in ECW? Fuck you.

Big Show needs to reconsider touching the mic again.

Aside for the fact you put a non-wrestler over you serious title contender this was good. Had a real ECW feel a liked. If the whole show could have that vibe I would be on the side of ECW.

So is "hardcore" wrestling.

Fox 09-01-2006 03:15 AM

But this is "EXTREME" wrestling.

I'm kinda pissed I missed this show.
