What ever happend to Sharkboy

suing the people who made Sharkboy and Lava girl?

Dorkchop 09-01-2006 12:36 AM

He wrestled on Impact tonight.

Destor 09-01-2006 12:37 AM

Thanks. You really helped.

Xero 09-01-2006 01:48 AM

I don't know, but he'll probably tank because of the sharks that Sony have.

Petethegeekstreet 09-01-2006 05:15 AM

He probably got laughed out of court for showing up in his gear.

Chavo Classic 09-06-2006 05:11 PM

He's been implicated in Steve Irwin's death

Destor 09-06-2006 05:13 PM

You only get half of an :lo smiley. Funny, but with a screen name like that I just cant support you.

Crippla 09-06-2006 06:03 PM

I still say he should get it changed to "Oooh Chavo".

Kane Knight 09-06-2006 10:55 PM

The movie came out, despite the injunction he proposed. After that, they just stopped reporting the news. I don't know, but I'm betting he lost.

...Or he lost the license in a "Shark tank from Hell" match.

--EDIT-- This is what Wikipedia alleges.

"On June 8, 2005 Shark Boy filed a lawsuit against Miramax Films. Having trademarked the name "Shark Boy" in 1999, Shark Boy claimed that Miramax's then-latest release "The Adventures of Shark Boy & Lava Girl" infringed upon his trademark, and demanded any "money, profits and advantages wrongfully gained". In November 2005 it emerged that Miramax had attempted to have the case dismissed, in addition to requesting that the court nullify Shark Boy's trademark on the basis that "Plaintiff is a male whose services are rendered only when he is wearing a costume depicting 'shark-like' attributes." Shark Boy was scheduled to attend a court hearing on January 5, 2006."

Sorry it ain't more.

Disturbed316 09-07-2006 12:14 PM

It would help if Wikipedia was more accurate because I know for a fact Shark Boy trademarked his name in 1997 not 1999.

M-A-G 09-07-2006 11:43 PM

He's jobbing on Impact where he belongs. Who cares about some movie lawsuit?

Destor 09-07-2006 11:44 PM

Can't a guy be curious? Wtf?

M-A-G 09-07-2006 11:57 PM

You can be but be prepared to be ridiculed for it. ;)

M-A-G 09-07-2006 11:58 PM

Sorry, it's more of a Shark Boy insult than a knock on you.

According to US patent and Trademark office:

So Wikipedia's right from the legal stance in this case. He filed it, according to their records, in 1999.

Well done Kane Knight

Crippla 09-08-2006 02:34 PM

I'm sorry, I really was sure it was 1997. I've seen it say 1997 in a lot of places.

I didnt know sharkboy went so big, the first (and last) I heard of him was in some wrestling magazine that had an up and comers section, you know, like "You may want to watch out for: ____" I saw a pic of sharkboy and thought "Ridiculous"

What was he in?

He's claimed the first use of it was in 1997, but that doesn't mean it was trademarked then.
