Under-rated Gimmicks
Just watching wrestlemania 14 (i have no idea why), and saw the artist formerly known as Goldust. That was a friggen awesome gimmick. His entrance music kicked ass
What is the most under-rated gimmick? |
Right to Censor could have been powerful, I could have seen it doing well in ECW.
|
"Above Average" Mike Sanders.
Sen O'Haire- Devil's advocate gimmick. Wrath- He was way over, but Kevin Nash killed this gimmick. |
Goldust was awesome.
His theme music was one of the best from the attitude era. |
Gertner Metro-Sexual.

Sub zero...I mean Glacier.

Rico, but he's similar to Goldust. I love the "mind fuck" gimmick.

TOVO Fact: Tovo also enjoyed when Stevie Richards stole gimmicks. |
What is a Tovo? It's bothering me to no end. Not the facts, but just that I don't know what Tovo is.
Also, under-rated gimmick = Kwee-Wee! |
Waylon Mercy.

Goldust and Rico were fantastic gimmicks. What I really liked about Goldust's was that he was a second generation wrestler, son of Dusty Rhodes, yet he chose to hide behind make-up and an odd costume. He had a beautiful wife, yet seemed to swing in the other direction. He seemed to be constantly an outcast, even from himself, which really worked, in my opinion.
Paul London & Brian Kendrick don't really have a gimmick, per se, but I love their image. It just seems theatrical, which seems to fit both guys. I think Viscera is actually a pretty interesting character. I don't know why, but I can really get into the guy. Not the "World's Largest Love Machine", but the dark former slave of The Undertaker. There was something about his identity being ripped from him, and then trying to stick out on his own, that intrigued me. Kevin Thorn and Ariel are underrated, in my opinion. The whole "they're not really vampires, they're just fascinated with them" shtick sticks, in my opinion. The Spirit Squad has so much potential when they debuted. A bunch of young guys called up at the same time, banding together so they have more chance at succeeding. That was gold, it's a shame they went so far with the cheerleading thing. One day, I want to just see a pack of young guys come in, get a push, explained due to their reliance on each other. I guess the Natural Born Thrillers gimmick in WCW would have been like this, but maybe they didn't really get the push they should have. So yeah, I guess that can be called underrated, as well. |
Muhammad Hassan.
He could have been HUGE if WWE had just played their cards right, and not done the whole beheading angle bullshit. |

Two more gimmicks I think are extremely underrated: Carlito and Trevor Murdoch. I guess it's not so much the gimmick, as it is the common underlying intelligence. Carlito and Trevor Murdoch both pretended to be knuckle-headed heels when they started out, but both were secretly cunning. Carlito out-smarted John Cena in his first match, winning the WWE United States Championship, and Trevor Murdoch would trip up guys like The Hurricane, and take them out of matches with DDTs to the floor, and what-not. The whole "wrestling genius pretending to be an idiot" thing is something that could be heavily exploited with the Eugene character.
When he started out, I thought the WWE was going to go in a "spoilt, rich boy" direction with Chris Masters. He was from Los Angeles, and he seemed smarter than most other hosses, and he put his own money up for grabs in The Masterlock Challenge. It was a nice little difference from the usual narcissist character, and it played up Masters' youth. They then made the character into a stumbling idiot, but it was nice while it lasted. |
pepsi man, let me know if this link doesnt work.

Underrated? Plenty of them:
All I can think of for now. |
I don't get how Muhammed Hassan was underrated. If anything he was overrated.
I don't think he was over-rated, but hes a lot closer to being overrated then he is unde-rrated |
This Eugene heel turn. I think it hasnt even started yet. When he got on the mic last night, I expected him to do the I'm special thing, but I wanted to him to just start talking normal eventually. I think we are in line for a Eugene full heel turn/ IC title run.
