TNA is better than WWE AT THIS MOMENT

I don't know how anyone can look at the two companies and find WWE more enjoyable at this point. Not saying TNA is fantastic or anything, cause its not. Still a lot of work to go, but it's at least better than the drivel on wwe week in and week out for the last few months.

3 things I think make this promotion better.

X-division: Obvious one, and this is gonna cause dissagreement with some. Although wwe has done better with their cruiserweight division lately, the bottom line is that TNA respects their cruiserweights a lot more than wwe. And obviously thats gonna make for a better cruiserweight division. Whereas TNA lets their guys go for 20-30 minutes, you're extremely lucky to get 15 out of the smackdown CW.

Tag Division: I think it gets overlooked how good TNA's tag division has been over the years. And lately its been better than ever. There really is no competition in this category, as wwe's tag division has been nonexistent.

Mid-card fueds: WWE's main event fueds are USUALLY better booked than TNA's. But the booking of wwe's midcard has been shit. Fueds are thrown out the window with no explanation. Guys are thrown together in a series of matches for no other reason than to filler. TNA takes the time to at least attempt to make decent storylines, and build up for their midcard fueds.

Thoughts?
Counterpoints?
Ice cream?

The One 12-04-2006 03:14 AM

TNA has Nash...WWE has JBL. I'm so confused. So conflicted.

Fignuts 12-04-2006 03:19 AM

TNA also has Billy Gunn.

The One 12-04-2006 03:20 AM

It's a deal!

TNA > WWE

Jeritron 12-04-2006 03:24 AM

Perhaps TNA is better than any one of the WWE brands. However, if WWE wised up and put them back together, things would be different.

PullMyFinger 12-04-2006 03:26 AM

TNA is better than WWE right now...even if TNA has a ton of problems...its still far more interesting.

The One 12-04-2006 03:27 AM

Nash's TNA promos last about 5 minutes, so I guess that's about 5 more minutes of entertainment than I am getting from WWE right now. :-/

Fignuts 12-04-2006 03:27 AM

They have too many wrestlers to merge. Unless they did mass firings. Even then, they'd probably cut everyone who has talent.

PullMyFinger 12-04-2006 03:27 AM

lol I wonder if Nash's PCS will have controversy like the BCS.

Maybe that's the problem. They're three brands producing shite programming with a bunch of crap wrestlers.

Cut the fat, keep the good wrestlers, and make it one brand again.

The Naitch 12-04-2006 03:29 AM

judging by the shit that was December to remember, I'd say that TNA has some sort of fighting chance

Jeritron 12-04-2006 03:34 AM

You're deriving that assumption that they have a chance from a WWECW ppv though. Its the shortest, lowest rated of the companys 3 shows and is clearly the C-show. It doesnt reflect the whole company neccesarily. They're only as good as their A-show, which is eons behind Raw in ratings and following.

Yeah that's kind of the problem. WWE hasn't been very good at cutting the fat, the past few years. And lately, there is a lot of fat to cut.

Jeritron 12-04-2006 03:49 AM

Another thing is its not neccesarily about the better product. Marks are marks and will keep watching it all regardless. Its all about luring in new viewers and mainstream existence. Whats TNA gonna do? They have a long way to go. Even if they were offering up wrestling classics every week, its not gonna make them the top dog. People aren't lured in by great matches, they're lured in by great characters, storylines and hype. Everyone at some point or another started watching wrestling because of Hogan, or Austin, or Rock or whoever and that only worked because of the overall production value.
Some guy could cut the best promos ever and wrestle 5 stars everynight and its not gonna matter if hes coming out in plastic jackets through a tube with a fog machine and a disco ball at a backlot in orlando.
People need to be drawn in by something that seems like a big deal, and then the quality can keep them watching. I think everyone here would be lying if they said they started watching wrestling to see good timing and no rest holds. People evolve as wrestling fans and turn into smarks but its still a minority.
Even if TNA is putting a product that is a million times better, they need to create a bang, get a makeover, and then run with it.

The Naitch 12-04-2006 03:49 AM

raw and sd are crap too btw

Jeritron 12-04-2006 03:52 AM

They are. I completely agree but they out-rate TNA impact.
People who arent watching already dont care about the things we do.

Fignuts 12-04-2006 03:58 AM

Yeah I'm not saying that TNA has a bigger fan base, or is more popular or anything. Just that the product is better.

Lock Jaw 12-04-2006 04:08 AM

I must concur. While both contain some ridiculous and even crappy storylines and booking, I find myself having more to watch for on TNA than WWE.

WWE:
Johnny Nitro
Carlito (Practically non-existant now)
Shelton Benjamin (Non-existant now)
Spirit Squad (Mostly Kenny, though)
(Don't even bother watching Smackdown or ECW at all)

TNA:
Christian Cage
Kurt Angle
Samoa Joe
AJ Styles/Christopher Daniels
Chris Sabin
Alex Shelly/Austin Starr/Kevin Nash (as long as Nash isn't wrestling)
LAX

Jeritron 12-04-2006 04:08 AM

I suppose, I just don't think TNA does a good job at all either. They have young talent, and a handful of big names and they don't seem to have an aspirations of cleaning up their act.

PullMyFinger 12-04-2006 04:09 AM

Technically speaking, Impact isn't that far off from WWECW's ratings, and they get 1/3-1/4th of the rating that Raw gets.

Yeah you can say thats shite, but for a new company, it's good. ECW averages 1.5/6 ratings now...TNA is on primetime and has held a steady rating of 1.0 now. They've also hit 1.2 before.

Jeritron 12-04-2006 04:13 AM

I don't think you give the WWE enough credit with that list, what about edge? I'm not saying you have to like him if you like Christian, but I would assume you would

Plus how about someone like Jeff Hardy? If Jeff Hardys in TNA smarks are all pumped up for him, but when hes the same wrestler getting a solid push in WWE suddenly hes just another non-tna guy.

Corkscrewed 12-04-2006 07:32 AM

Arizona Cardinals > TNA > WWE

Or something.

Jeritron 12-04-2006 08:21 AM

edit: fucked up that post, Patriots are greater than the NFL

Impact! 12-04-2006 08:43 AM

GCW>TNA>NFL>WWE>WAR ON IRAQ>D2D

Jeritron 12-04-2006 08:49 AM

The Great Khali and Hulk Hogan as undisputed tag champs and respective holders of all world titles until 2009 > D2D > wwechampion

Dave Youell 12-04-2006 08:53 AM

Anything > D2D

Jeritron 12-04-2006 08:58 AM

Holocaust > D2D

Savio 12-04-2006 09:25 AM

DnD > D2D

X-division: I despise the X-Division and find it all to be a pile of pointless flips with no psychology.

Tag Division: TNA's got plenty of tag teams, sure, but they can't seem to make me care about any of them. They honestly should've done a James Gang/3D feud while it still could've been hot. Sure, they had a match, but come on...

Mid-card fueds: Honestly, I don't find myself caring about most of TNA's midcard either. I HONESTLY don't like their style of wrestling, for the most part, and their booking is ridiculous.

Jeritron 12-04-2006 09:49 AM

Yes, it shocks me that TNA has 2 of the best tag teams of all time on their roster and they've managed not to make anything good of them, or between them.
I'm also not caring about the X-division when I watch.
TNA could benefit from a midcard title analagous to the IC or US titles, because from what I've gathered, they have a world title picture with like 10 guys, and then the Xdivision. Theres no meaningful middle ground.

Even though my TiVo is stubborn and won't record all of iMPACT!, I have to agree. As a die-hard WWE mark, I'm finding it harder and harder to be enterained by WWE programming. I can't just abandon it altogether, but yes, TNA is more entertaining at this point. Not good for Vince.

Kane Knight 12-04-2006 11:25 AM

TNA has ass promos and shit booking. And I know the smarks will come out in force whining about how Nash is the man and VKM is awesome or whatever other retarded shit is supposed to be good about TNA, but honestly, they're ass. I can't stand the bloody show, because between the commentary, the booking, and the promos, TNA actually makes me ponder giving up on wrestling entirely.

...Kinda like ECW.

WWE at its worst is still better than TNA. I'll take DX over any "entertaining" skit TNA pulls, and that's saying something.

Caged Heat18 12-04-2006 12:07 PM

I still favor WWE over TNA. WWE is real bad at this point, but I'd still rather sit through Raw than Impact.

Jeritron 12-04-2006 12:51 PM

I feel the same way, when you're watching WWE, no matter how shitty it might be, its still The WWE.

Stickman 12-04-2006 03:39 PM

Sadly you're right.

Rammsteinmad 12-04-2006 05:08 PM

I'll always love wrestling and WWE, and even though I watch WWE every week and TNA when I can, I'd still say that right now TNA is better.

How can anyone who watched (and paid for) Survivor Series and especially December to Dismember think WWE is better. They expect people to pay for this crap? What happened to "giving the fans what they want"?

If I had paid for ECW D2D I'd probably never watch WWE again.

Skippord 12-04-2006 08:53 PM

I agree

St. Jimmy 12-04-2006 09:39 PM

RAW > TNA > Heat > ECW > Smackdown.
